Perfect Look Salon

December 9, 2013 My grandmother who is 87 years old stated she would like her hair cut. We normally go around the corner from us but they were very busy so I went to Perfect Look in the Fred Meyers parking lot because I had seen it many times before. we walked in and a 3 ladies were standing around talking. They asked what we would like I stated My grandmother would like a hair hut. A lady whose name I do have (not sure if I should post on here) said I can help you. she said how would you like it cut? I stated she likes it short around the ears like boys wear it, off the nape of the neck and longer on top so she can feather it. I am protective over my grandmother because she is hard of hearing so I stood near since there was no where close to sit. The lady started in on my grandmothers hair. we arrived at about 1:30pm it was well after 2:30 pm when I noticed that my grandmothers hair kept getting shorter and shorter. I then asked the lady why my grandmothers hair was so short and she was still not done chopping on it. she said you said you wanted her to look like a boy. I gasped! I said sternly in a low mannered voice I said no such thing. I stated again I want it short around the ears like boys wear it, off the nape of the neck and longer on top so she can feather it. The lady looked at me and so you want it shorter, picked up clippers and took them up the right side of my grandmothers head behind her ear. I was shaking at that point and said what the heck are you doing get away from my grandmother right now. I stated I want to speak to someone in charge. a lady who was dieing her own hair said I’m the manager how can I help you as if she never heard one word. I stated everything over again and stated I did not want that woman near my grandmother again. she asked if I would her to try and fix the hair I said yes please make it even. she did her best. I have pictures of before and after only because I had taken a picture a week earlier. I started writing down the information so i would not forget it and asked who i contact to make a report about the butcher job done on my 87 year old grandmother. I was given a web site and I reported it right after we got home. It took 5 days to get anything back and the message is asking me what store so that they can direct me to the person to talk to. I stated I reported it to the manager, gave them the information of the store and asked if they wanted to know the name or what happened. I did not get a reply until today. I need to talk to the manager. wow OK so this lady is slaughtering elderly peoples hair.

It was clear they didn’t want me there the moment I walked in. «May we HELP you with something?» Why does someone usually walk in to a walk-​in salon? I am slightly ethnic looking and have long hair. A white, professional looking man walked in and they called him ahead of me. Then they called another walk in ahead of me. I know there are appointments — but I saw these people sign in as they walked in the door. Rude, b****y ladies who deserve these reviews.

I like to try different hair salons every time I need a haircut and I always have the same cut request: Just an inch trimmed off.
I’ve never had a «bad haircut» before and didn’t know it was even possible for me until I got my hair cut here. I had shoulder length hair and just wanted a trim. The stylist literally cut straight across in a horizontal line (on dry hair) and was finished in less than five minutes! She did not cut small strands of my hair at a time; she just cut through all of my thick hair in one motion.
The result was uneven, choppy ends. My hair looked like an eight year old could have cut it. Needless to say, I am never coming back!

I’m sitting in this salon hoping that my son’s haircut turns out. I’m not feeling hopeful. First of all, this a business like many in Portland where the customer servers (that’s right you people — you are PAID to actually SERVE your customers — that’s why it’s called «Customer Service» — I feel fine saying this since I too have worked and still do in customer service) seem to think that they are doing you a favor by doing their job. Second, there will be no smiling or friendly welcomes here. Third, when I explained precisely how I wanted his hair cut, my explanation was met with a blank stare and her repeatedly saying, «So you want an inch off?». When I explained again what I wanted and asked her if she understood me (English IS her first language, by the way), she again asked if I wanted an inch off. Fourth, I asked the other stylist who was doing nothing if I could use the bathroom and she shook her head and actually DID offer me a smile and told me, «No». That certain head nod and smile told me that she felt much pleasure in denying me something that would please me (a toilet). First salon I’ve been to that does not allow their customers to potty.
So his cut is done, they don’t have any strong gel to hold up the full faded faux-​halk I asked for. I will likely have to pay someone else to get this job done right. I’ll try to post a photo and you can be the judge.

A couple of months ago, I went to get my haircut. I was hoping my friend will do it, but she was perming and I didn’t want to wait until she’s done. I went ahead & put my name down, so I can be next in line to the next available hairstylist there. I waited, & and I waited, while others come & go. The two other hairstylist who was busy with customers thought I was waiting for my friend to do my hair. Finally, I got up, to see how far along my name was, and it turned out I’ve been skipped WITHOUT ASKING me, if I was waiting for my friend. I said no, I wasn’t. «Oh, I thought you were!»
Anys ho, the next available stylist sat me down. I told her exactly what I wanted, and that I DON’T WANT my hair layered. It’s down to my knees, I just want 4″ cut all even around. So, she started sectioning off my hair, pinning the top section up, and I know where she was going with that. .. I wasn’t born yesterday. Again, I repeated, «I don’t want it layered.» «Oh, I know, I heard you the first time». So, I let her do her thing. I’m just a paying customer who obviously don’t KNOW a thing about hair! When she was done, I got up, grab the back of my hair to do a pony. Guess what! It was NOT STRAIGHT and they’re zig-​gagging. Should I just have left? No, of course not! I again, told her, «you need to recut it because as you can see, it’s not straight.» showing her the ‘choppy’ evidence.
She put my cape back on. This time, I told her HOW TO CUT MY HAIR, again. I stood up on a stool, so she didn’t have to bend very low to cut the bottom part of my hair, so she try to cut them evenly. By the time I was satisfied, she cut a total of 7″ off my hair. Instead of my hair up to my thigh area, it’s now down to my buttocks! I told her, to go ahead & sweep my hair off the floor and put them in an envelope or a bag, I’m taking them home. When I measured the longest hair she had cut, it was a total of 7″.
Remind me again, what beauty salons do? They go to school to cut hair? Perfect Look should have been perfect the first time I told her what I want done. I forgive her, because not everyone is as perfect as I am. When my mom does my hair, it took 10 mins. to cut my hair, who never went to school to learn how to cut hair, but she KNOWS how to use a pair of scissors! When my friend does my hair she takes the same amount as my mom. So, why do they NEED TO LAYER HAIR when all I want is to cut them straight 4″ all around? How hard is that to do? My mistake was to give her a tip, but that’s the last time I will have my hair cut there or anywhere. It’s no wonder, my hair keeps growing & growing &. .. .
Oh, BTW, while there, the other girls said to me: «hair that long is never healthy but yours is and it’s beautiful!» Thank you!
