What a cool little pace. We were needing a major caffeine pick me up and walked into this place after going to marcys diner. The gal at the register was super friendly. I had the green tea which was refreshing. Very quaint and attached to a drugstore.

Main points: — Garage parking(all spots are for Intermed, Perx-U-Up, or the Apothecary) — Has WiFi — No outlets/plugs available — Not a ton of seats but not that crowded so doesn’t matter — Coffee/tea has choice of cow, soy, or almond milk — Loyalty program: 10 cups = 1 free drink, 10% off Apothecary stuff(they’re combined) — No free refills — they are large price minus 25 cents — Iced chai is pretty good — Staff is pleasant

I was here on vacation, but needed to answer a few work emails and make some calls while my mom visited with friends in South Portland. I needed a spot with free parking, free wi fi, good coffee and didn’t want a Starbucks. I went into Trader Joe’s to get some green tea mints for my mom and spotted this place across the street. Bingo! They serve Coffee By Design Coffee(my favorite) and I had a scone and settled into a spot looking out a window. The selection of food included gluten free, Vegan and Vegetarian and was a nice mix of protein and carbs and indulgences. I was there around an hour and half. Nice spot, very friendly people. There is an apothecary attached(sorta like the vitamin section of a Whole Foods) that I looked through as I left.

The advertising caught my attention as my friend and I drove by(en route to Trader Joe’s right across the street). Very interesting to see pills being poured into a coffee cup, and I have never seen an apothecary connected to a café before so we had to check it out. I loved their selection of coffees and teas. They even tell you the calories which was nice to know(and surprising to find out a chai has more than a latte!). I browsed the apothecary’s merchandise as I waited for my white chocolate latte and liked the items, but they were a little too pricey for my tastes. I think it’s a very cool concept. I also thought some of their food sounded delicious and I’ll make it a point to try something out the next time I’m in the area!

This is a lovely small café with on street and free garage parking. The coffee by design coffee is delicious and the lattes are perfectly made. Foamy rich and flavorful. The staff remembers names and orders so you get a «hi john. The usual double latte?» when you walk in. Baked goods are delectable(try the cookies) and the soups make a wholesome lunch Good veg/vegan choices. Visit!
