I’ve never actually had your food but I was in eating pizza on the 16th at sizzle pie. The food looked great and I’ll have eventually have to stop by to try some of it but honestly I’m writing this cause you have a very handsome gentleman that works there haha I was being such a weirdo and kept staring at him so for that I apologize random rude. Uhh. keep up the good work!

Pine State Biscuits is definitely a must when you visit Portland Oregon. The small business has expanded to more locations. But the original location in the South east side and made famous by Guy Fieri and written by «yours truly» has closed down. The new location, which is also not far from my hotel, shares this warehouse spot with a pizza joint at night. On my debut of the new location, it was no surprise that it was busy on a Saturday morning. On my mind going there, I was thinking«The Reggie Deluxe» the entire time. Fried Chicken pieces in a freshly baked biscuit was the definitely the ticket. Instead, I had one of the specials, Grilled Cheese on a grilled Texas toast with a bowl of tomato soup. For $ 8.00, I get melted cheese, grilled onions, apple butter and bacon on thick pieces of grilled bread. It has been a while since I had a grilled cheese sandwich. The tomato soup was very chunky and comforting. The two combine totally hits the spot. For the price, this was a great choice to start my last day in Portland Oregon. The wait definitely takes a while, especially on the weekends. But you are guarantee a good and satisfying grub from here.

One of the best meals Portland has to offer. I split the Reggie Deluxe and Shrimp and Grits and both were super good until the last bite. The grits were very flavorful — creamy, buttery, with a hint of spice, garlic and mushrooms. The garlic and mushrooms really made the grits stand out and I appreciated the added flavor and texture. The shrimp was fresh and succulent. The Reggie was also equally delicious. I’ve never quite tasted such a good gravy with biscuits and Pine State does both these things extremely well. It definitely has the right amount of flavor and is in no way too overwhelming — which happens more so than not. However even with the fried egg, cheese, fried chicken, bacon, biscuit and gravy no flavor outshines the other. It was a symphony of deliciousness in my mouth. The only drawbacks are seating is fairly limited and cramped — but it’s definitely worth it. A must if you’re in Portland.

The most amazing gravy and biscuits place ever! Pine State Biscuits made mine and my fiancé’s visit to Portland even better. We ate their two days in a row. Their biscuits are fluffy, the gravy delightful. The Nitro brew coffee was also delicious. Try the Reggie Deluxe with extra gravy or biscuits with honey and butter. Sitting is a bit hard since the place is small. But they move quickly and the food is well worth the wait.

Our first time visiting Portland and we couldn’t wait to try this place! We saw the awesome Unilocal reviews and had heard about it from people recommending it to us. In short: Very delicious biscuits and great coffee! The Pros: Tasty tasty! Both the biscuits and the coffee. My wife ordered the build your own, and I ordred the Reggie deluxe. Both tasted great. The Cons: The sandwiches weren’t hot! It was a very cold morning and we had been walking around freezing, and I was disappointing when I bit into the sandwich and it wasn’t hot. The taste was great, as well as the coffee, which is why I gave 4 stars. In all a super delicious concept and a very nice biscuit!

I’m surely not a Portland native but when i travel, i like to make sure I’m hitting a town’s must beloved spots. So I did a lot of researching and interviewing. This place was recommended consistently. It did not disappoint. I am a biscuits and gravy girl– easily one of my favorite dishes ever and I know now that if this place where in my hometown, I’d visit it all the time! I had the Reggie. It was week priced and much larger than i expected. Cheese was melty, bacon dispersed well with each bite, meat tender and juicy, gravy was just thick and flavored to perfection, biscuit was soft and buttery and held up very well to all the wet stuff. The husband and i shared a moneyball. It is the best biscuits and gravy dish I’ve ever had. The service at the counter was good. Seating was easily filled, casual, mixed and family friendly. More a place to meet with friends than an intimate one-on-one because this location is shared with another restaurant and the music and many groups gathering and catching up makes it more of a buzzing, lovely atmosphere.

Got a nice tip from our Über driver saying to hit up this location for the shortest wait time :) Outta of all the places on my checklist for my Portland visit, Pine State was up there! And boyyyy… it didn’t disappoint. Fairly basic concept… and it hit the spot! We got a couple items… Reggie — their signature biscuit with fried chicken, cheese, egg, and gravy! comfort food at it’s finest… the gravy was savory but not too salty. The biscuit was moist and buttery. Can’t go wrong with some fried chicken too! Wedgie — biscuit and fried chicken with fried green tomato and iceberg lettuce and drowned in ranch! I liked this dish but didn’t love it! To be honest, the ranch sauce was overwhelming and the biscuit didn’t work well with the concept. However, when i hit this sandwich with the TEXASPETEHOTSAUCE… it saved the day! Tasted like a bone buffalo wing with fried bread Shrimp and Grits — I should’t have ordered this but i did… and no regrets it was my favorite part of the meal. Super simple but delicious… sauteed bacon/onion/mushroom with 5 big shrimps over creamy grits. I honestly wanted to come back again before we left town but we didn’t have time! CHECKITOUT!

Observations– Crowded for a New Years Eve brunch. Minimal seating. Shares a dining room with Sizzle Pie. You’ve got to be a hawk to find a seat. The line was at the door when we arrived, so you know it’s good. The sandwiches are huge! The Reggie is at the top of the menu for a reason. Although it’s a sandwich it definitely may require a fork and knife to to truly appreciate the savory goodness happening. The Wedgie and Cajun fries are also amazing. The Mimosa, though small, is delicious. The Bloody Mary is better than any other in town.

the reggie — little biscuit with generous fried chicken and gravy. not too heavy and will fill you up. thought it was overhyped. yes, it’s very good, but not better than a good biscuit and good fried chicken — nothing was spectacular /unique. something with this many calories and butter is gonna be good. would go back, but would not go out of my way for it. probably not the best if you’re looking for fast-fast food. there were 3 – 4 sandwiches in front of me and i waited 20 – 25 minutes

Fiona and I looked at the Unilocal reviews, being are first stay in Portland, looked good, was a short walk from our hotel. What a great little place, biscuits are amazing and fresh, I had the eggs and sausage in my biscuit with a fried green tomato on the side, the sausage is. Add in house and tasted amazing, sweet note with a nice spicy kick at the end, eggs cooked well, and the fried tomato was fantastic. Fiona had the Mcisley it was amazing, honey mustard sauce, pickles, fried chicken and a wheat biscuit, all worked well great combination of flavours. The coffee is also very good, get here early the full up fast and there was a line to the door for take outs.

Searching where to eat while staying at Crown Plaza Portland Downtown, this place was 4minute walk from the hotel. Easy to find, small but very lively atmosphere. Sunday past 2 pm, and seats were all taken. Seats are shared with Sizzle Pie, pizza place located in inside the same building. I don’t like heavy taste like gravy, so I chose the one with apple butter. Crispy chicken, thick bacon, melted cheese, biscuits combined with apple sauce made amazing experience in my mouth. I also had cajun fries, but too much seasoning and couldn’t finish it, thus giving this place 4 stars.

This place was walking distance from where I was staying, and after reading the reviews on Unilocal I thought I it’s probably worth the try. The larger sign in the front of the building(which was the sign I saw first) says Pizza Biscuit. I was confused because the name did not match the name on Unilocal, but it was the same location. It is interesting the kitchen is exposed to outdoor garage door. Boy oh boy, we tried a little bit of everything, and nothing seem to disappoint except the collard greens. I was really impressed with the quality, and flavor of the food. For a moment, I thought maybe the chefs were creole it was so much love and flavor in every bite. The dining area is so small, it may only hold approximately 15 people or so. Also, the space is shared with a pizza parlor inside the restaurant, which seemed a little odd to me. My only regret is that I was not able to return before the end of my trip. I must say, this was the best breakfast food I’ve had in a very long time from a restaurant.

Wow! The lines on a weekday morning and weekend are out the door, and moves quickly. Limited indoor seating with minimalist décor. Variety of menu items to delight your eyes. I ordered a chicken biscuit and found it over cooked and spices overtook the natural flavor. HOWEVER, they make amazing apple butter which tasted wonderful on my biscuit and on its own! Definitely will give this another go.

If I ever want fried chicken and biscuits, I crave the Reggie. The fried chicken, cheese, and bacon combination is AMAZING, and the gravy ties it all together. The gravy is delicious and helps soften the crispy biscuit. My sister order the Chatfield and loved the apple butter/fried chicken combo. She said she’d prefer it with gravy though, since it became a bit dry. So next time we go, we’re probably gonna order her the Chatfield with a side of apple butter: P The Hashbrowns are amazing — very strong butter flavor, and very crispy. Order a side to share with friends.

We have«breakfast club» Friday’s at work, and yesterday I had the opportunity to embrace my inner southern belle. Well… I wasn’t very proper while eating the Reggie that was smothered in gravy goodness, but I did destroy the buttery biscuit in a matter of minutes. How I have gone so long without this delicacy … The world will never know. I am now ready to stand in rain, snow, or overcast to explore more items on the menu!

[Visit on Sept 26th, 2015] OMG. Shut up and take my money!!! Came here with my friends April and Mark. We only had 24 hours to really spend in PDX(flew in Friday night, flew out Sunday morning), so Pine State Biscuits was on our Must Visit List. The last time I had visited PDX we had no time to stop by and so I knew I had to make a point of it the third time around. A ordered the Reggie Deluxe, and the Hash Up with Steak for us to share. M had the McIsley, and I had the Shrimp n Grits and ordered Biscuits w/Sausage Gravy on the side. The Hash Up was a little bland but I think it could easily be fixed with some ketchup or salt. Everything else was SO tasty and flavorful, absolutely decadent. The biscuits were fresh tasting and so fluffy, even when topped with that amazing sausage gravy. The Shrimp and Grits had 5 jumbo shrimp in there, bacon bits, and mushrooms and onions… OMG suuuper delish. We rolled up out of there extremely full but continued onto the next stop ;) The show must go on! Pro Tip: If you find yourself in PDX, go to this location instead of the more reviewed branches because this one had an extremely short wait. Not just a to-go business, there are actual tables/seating inside as well for dining in :)

BEST breakfast I had in Portland hands down and one of the top breakfasts I’ve had in my life. Reggie deluxe with an egg and a side of apple butter: a crispy fried chicken topped with bacon, egg, and cheese and smothered in gravy in between 2 large fluffy biscuits. The apple butter was very flavorful and sorta helped balance the richness of the rest of the dish. Everything here was delicious. My other friends got the potatoes and shrimp and grits and they all said it was very good. There was barely a line on Tuesday morning at 10 am, but if I’m ever back in portland. I will be here for sure.

I am a huge fan of mouth watering scrumptious biscuits. If I could give an award to for that I would present it to pine state biscuits. The biscuits are made in house and you can see the kitchen staff in the back making these gourmet biscuits. The texture is perfect. Not too hard, not too soft and had the extra oomph crunch on the outer edges. From biscuits to gravy and even to the breakfast sandwich, this place is the place to get your biscuit dance on! Of course, everything just makes it even better with a side of warm Stumptown coffee. Bön appetite!
