Pittman Addition HydroPark

Oh how I love this little park. Or «HydroPark» rather. Per
a HydroPark is a «Portland Water Bureau facility that now serves as a neighborhood greenspace.»
It’s misleading to call Pittman Addition a park because… it’s not much of one. It is more of a neighborhood addition, as the name suggests, turned art museum. All over the park there are art sculpture made by local artists and they are truly spectacular. Even more fun is that now and then a new one will pop up! I’ve lived in this neighborhood a little over a year at this point and have watched as the park has evolve.
This isn’t the type of park I’d bring a lunch to enjoy. For one thing it’s right next to Going, separated only by a wall. It can be a bit loud with the traffic coupled with the noise from the neighboring Plaid Pantry and Max stop. It’s just a little magical refuge in the middle of a busy area. It seems like a little secret. Another not so wonderful thing is that is it a favored hang out for transient folk. Which hey why not, they’re not bugging anyone. They are always friendly and non menacing but it doesn’t exactly make me wanna cool my heals and stay awhile.
Pittman Addition is very Portlandia. It’s just a special HydroPark where wonderful local art will randomly appear for your enjoyment! I very much recommend strolling by if you’re in the area.
