Planned Parenthood

Horrible!!! Last time I went in waited 2.2 hours to get called back, so I was there a total of 3.5 hours. Then this week I needed an Emergency refill until apt, I had to call 4 days in a row with each time them telling me it would be taken care of that day.

I arrived 15m early for a 9:50 appointment, and didn’t actually see the doc until 11:30. Everyone who works here is super nice and gave me great service other than the waiting. I also qualified for free birth control which was awesome. It took 2 hours from start to finish just to get birth control with no exam or tests; so be prepared to wait and plan ahead to be there a while. Other than that the place seemed great. They also were very welcoming to trans, requested pronoun use, etc… Cool!

I’m torn between giving them a 3 or 4. That wait time, being unexpected, was a killer!

Updating this to five stars. Had another appt with PP and they were so great to work with. Convenient location, great prices, quality staff, very minimal wait time. Love!

I made an appointment for routine STD testing. I arrived 10 minutes before my scheduled time and waited in the lobby for 1 hour and 40 minutes. When my name finally got called I expressed my concern that I had less than an hour left due to another appointment. Once in the treatment room the assistant spent 40 minutes digitizing my health history while another tech drew my blood, then left me to wait for the clinician who never came. When I could wait no longer (due to my other appt) I got up to leave and they demanded I wait for an exit interview with the clinician, as in physically blocked me from exiting the building… I finally got out 3+ hours after my scheduled appointment with only half the tests completed, I was late to my other appt, and then I still had to return to finish the testing… all in all over 4 and ½ hours wasted on a simple series of tests that should have taken less than 30 minutes.
I appreciate what planned parenthood does and the services they provide to the community, but their complete lack of respect for my time is totally unacceptable.

I was going to be late for my appointment at the SE location & when I called their office, they rescheduled me for the same day– only 1.5 hours after my scheduled appointment– in NE. I was very grateful since I thought I had to come another day.
The exam was very through. I felt like we communicated very well and I appreciated all the take home information about my prescription (it’s a whole sheet!).
The wait was long but not unusual for a doctor’s visit (I went on Monday afternoon), but cut them some slack. I read a magazine and was called in no time.

Super nice and helpful staff!
Next Choice costs half the price here versus any other pharmacy, with the added bonus of not having to deal with a judgmental pharmacist giving you a raised eyebrow.
Not a fan of the whole being closed at 4:30 thing, but it is what it is.

Thank all that is good and wonderful for Planned Parenthood! No judgment, no tired attitudes just some amazing and heartfelt practitioners who seem truly dedicated to making my sex life a little easier.

I’m reviewing Planned Parenthood tonight because I don’t have any extra cash to donate, and today I had to drive by people protesting abortion for the millionth time. Usually I try to practice empathy, but today I was tired and grumpy and flipped them off. Unfortunately I don’t think they saw me. Thank god I didn’t honk and flip them off like originally planned, because some tricky bastard had a «Honk for Life» sign.
It’s true that I felt a little judged at this Planned Parenthood when I asked my practitioner if I could have anal sex while I had a yeast infection. But she still hooked me up with some extra antibiotics just in case.
I like the NE location a little more than the one in SE, because it’s smaller and less crowded. Also, when I’m done I can go right next door and nurse my wounds with a fancy treat from Whole Foods.

Planned parenthood is a WONDERFUL resource for family planning and sexually transmitted disease prevention for both men and women. They’re friendly, professional, and won’t turn you away if you have no money. I’ve been going to them for 10 years for my birth control. Bring a good book because you may have to wait awhile but in my experience, it’s mostly never over an hour-​depending on how busy they are.

Definitely useful for all the reasons mentioned in other reviews – cheap, convenient, friendly to the insurance-​challenged, and all those free condoms – but be sure to schedule a huge window of time around your trip to PPH. I went in on a Tuesday at 12:10 for a 12:20 appointment, had all my paperwork filled out by 12:15… and waited until frickin’ 1:10 before my name was finally called. WTF? It’s not like the place was particularly crowded, either. Then I was taken back to the room, took off all my clothes and covered up in paper as usual… only to inexplicably wait another 20 minutes until the RNs came in and did their thing. Argh.
The exam itself was just fine, and all the staff were incredibly friendly and professional, but between all the waiting for a 10-​minute exam and then the post-​exam waiting for checkout and then checkout itself, I didn’t get out of there until 10 to 2. Seriously, an annual exam shouldn’t take two hours, 90% of it waiting! And I booked the appointment a month ahead, too.
On the plus side, my NuvaRing script ended up costing 15 bucks less at PPH than at the ob-​gyn… but for those who are insured, this place isn’t worth the cheap factor. TWO. HOURS. I gave it three stars because I love PPH and everything it stands for – and the staff is truly top-​notch – but just because the place is subsidized doesn’t mean the concept of booked appointments should hold no meaning. Yeeeesh.

Planned Parenthood mails me my Birth Control prescription. Plus
They include enough condoms to make me wonder a) how they can afford so many condoms to mail off for everyone that must receive BC in the mail AND b) just who is getting laid that much?
PP aren’t assholes when I talk to them on the phone. .. Triple Plus
PP doesn’t up charge my broke and insurance less ass 400 dollars for a check-​up. .. Infinity Plus.

I lack insurance at the moment, and besides that, like many ladies, when I was insured I had some pretty crummy experiences at the OB/GYN’s office.
Which is why it’s pretty terrific to live within walking distance of a Planned Parenthood clinic. (This clinic is in a set of offices upstairs from Wild Oats, and is therefore kinda hidden.) PP provides gynecological and family planning services to everybody, including the uninsured. And if your income level is low enough, you can likely get FPEP (federally funded) coverage for all the care you receive there. Since this is a federal program, it applies at other clinics as well, but many aren’t as good at making people aware of it. My advice, if you think you might qualify for PFEP, is to bring your birth certificate (thanks to dumb immigration laws) to the clinic for your first visit, and also your checkbook, so you can make a small donation to PP even if your visit costs you nothing.
