If you care about your bike, its VERYIMPORTANT to ensure that whom-ever works on your bike knows what they’re doing. I typically will screen a place before having work done. I can tell by walking in a place, or spot checking the mechanics… And I knew right away when coming here that this was the place for me. They’re real nice people here. And they do excellent work at reasonable rates. If you care about your bikes, bring them here. **take a look at the other reviews — all of them are very good except for 01. that 01 review is not credible.**

Favorite bike shop ever :-) Friendly staff and love talking about bikes! I like to ask a lot of questions and these guys don’t mind. Port city does a great job saving a girl money with used parts when possible and if you’re a regular bike commuter they prioritize your bike since they know you need it for work, which is a huge help! Thanks!

My daughter’s bike broke today while in Portland. I called around looking to find someone who could fix it on short notice. Gorham bike and ski told me that they were backed up several weeks but Port City bike was willing to help us out. They fixed the bike, put my daughter’s artwork on and their Facebook page, and charged a reasonable rate. We still had time to bike the Back Cove! This could have been a ruined trip to Portland to go biking but Port City bike saved the day!

I bought a used bike, originally from the ‘70s. After some more research, the bike was much more expensive than other bikes of this type go for. I liked the bike at the time, and ended up dealing with the cost anticipating that I was paying for a whole, functional bicycle for myself. Shortly after the purchase, the pedals and gears were creaky, and the chains were skipping during gear shifts. The brakes were also a bit loose. I had to take it back for tune-ups. After getting it fine-tuned again, the same problems started to come back. The owner was very kind, and the bike is functional. I’d like to like this shop more, but I just don’t feel that the product I purchased was worth the price. I would consider this shop again for minor repairs and tune-ups, but would not make another large purchase or go for important work.

If you are looking for smart nice people, and are not a titanium bling nerd, stop in here and talk about practical, needs-based biking. Solid and helpful. Will go back!

Just popped in a couple days and Peter is, in fact, one of the friendliest guys around. Bought a tire pump and helmet for much less than i expected! Yay! I can ride again.

One of the best discoveries I’ve made since moving to Portland. Peter is the nicest guy and he delivers where a lot of shops fall flat. If you’re looking for a bike and want to save some money go to this shop and have a conversation with him. Can’t wait to get started on my pet project!

If you’re looking for an honest, reliable bike shop without the glitz and inflated prices of some of the other bike shops in town, this is the place for you. For an extremely reasonable price, the owner will custom-make a used bike for you that can perfectly suit your needs. Great to have someone in town whose commitment is to enabling all kinds of bicycling(recreational and functional) for all kinds of people, instead of putting money in the pockets of big name bicycle manufacturers.
