This place is honestly such a joke and I regret ever picking this place to do my eyelash extensions.
I first noticed this place on groupon for having a special of paying $ 73 for a voucher to get a full set of eyelashes worth the normal charge of $ 250 which is BS… if I were to actually pay $ 250 for these I would be even more depressed about the situation. So I called them to see if they could fit my friend and I that day, they said yes without hesitation (my first sign something was up, because every other eyelash salon was booked that day). I had mentioned the groupon deal they had posted and the lady on the phone expressed how we should pay them directly and they would honor the deal. Obviously, they don’t want to give groupon a percentage of the profits that they deserve for advertising this companies ‘deals’.
When we got there, we received help relatively fast and were directed to pay for the service before we actually received it (me giving the lady a $ 10 tip I even regret that). They then told us to go into a small room in the back. Let me tell you this room looked dank as hell… literally random storage boxes shoved in a loft like area in the wall and two small uncomfortable beds (which I’m sure are never cleaned). The lady doing my extensions asked my how long and curved I liked them as well as the volume. That was pretty much the last thing mentioned; nothing about prepping and cleaning the area or aftercare (this was my first time getting eyelash extensions, I know how unfortunate). The first thing I thought that was odd was how she poured out all of the lashes onto a cover on the pillow my head was resting on. Next I heard her squeeze out some nasty smelling superglue next to the lash pieces. Oh and I never mentioned how she never washed her hands and I would have noticed if she did, because there was a sink right next to the room I was in. The entire process took about 30 minutes and when I was done I heard her throw the utensils she used on me into a bin other miscellaneous items so again THIS PLACE IS NOT CLEAN. She then told me to go over to the couch to wait for my friend, because another client wanting lash extensions need to be served. Again the sheet to the bed I was just laying on we’re not changed out and I the lady’s hand remain unwashed. I’m honestly anticipating an eye infection or that my lashes are going to fall out within the next couple of days. Three hours after the appointment I had 5 lashes already fall out. I would highly recommend that you do your research and do not go to this place. Honestly what experience do these people have? I definitely should have read reviews before making the terrible decision of going to this establishment.
I also forgot to mention the terrible quality of the lashes used. They feel like hard plastic and look like cheap fake eyelashes. Don’t be deceived by the pictures up on Unilocal; they look 10X better in the pictures than they do in person.

I get my lashes done here on a regular basis – both Cindy and Deanne are skilled technicians who conduct themselves with swift professionalism and great respect for their clients. I initially came to Portland’s Hottest Nails having purchased a Groupon. A brief word regarding purchasing a Groupon for this service: it’s not saving you much (if any) money for a full set of lashes. This practice ends up financially shorting the technician significantly for her time (about $ 20-​$ 25) – while you still pay approximately the same amount had you booked an appointment without a Groupon. I didn’t like the idea of someone carefully performing a highly detailed service for half the money. It just seems like it devalues their skill and time.
The services I’ve received here have been wonderful – Cindy and Deanne are kind and highly accommodating. I always leave feeling so pleased with how much larger and brighter my eyes look when one of these lovely ladies has carefully framed them with lash extensions. The only time I’ve ever had an experience where the glue happened to bond poorly, I called the salon (it had been 2 days) and they made sure to invest the extra time (at no cost to me) to address the issue. After each appointment, they ask for their clients’ approval with the intent of receiving honest feedback – because not only do they care about their work, but they genuinely care about the satisfaction of their clients. On the few occasions I’ve wanted something tweaked, they’ve been completely amenable to fulfilling my requests without issue.
Cindy and Deanne are tremendously skilled and they each do wonderful work – I’m sure they’re eager to exceed your expectations just as they have exceeded mine.

After coming to Portland’s Hottest Nails for years, I am sorry to say I will never be coming back.
Yesterday I went in for a pedicure and shellac mani and was cut so deeply on my toe that it has continued to hurt to walk on all day. The woman doing my toes offered no apology, just tried to stuff cotton into the cut and soak it in the unsanitary water.
When we got to my nails, she filed them so roughly and unevenly that I got up and left in the middle and went to a different place. Still had to pay $ 35 for the worst pedicure I have ever gotten. Thankfully Envy nails right down the street finished up for me and did an amazing job.
I will never come back here again.

Finding a good nail salon is always a challenge. It’s a whole system of trial and error that involves bleeding cuticles and varying degrees of feeling like you’re enduring medieval torture, all in the name of having your cuticles kept at bay and having a bit of color on your phalanges. First World Problems, I know.
About 4 years ago, I moved to NE Portland and wandered into this place, because it was right across the street from where I pick up dog food.
Happenstance ended up being unbelievably fortuitous. The name might not suggest that your nails will end up looking awesome (similar to staying at a motel called «America’s Best Value Inn»), but don’t be fooled. This place is clean, the staff is skilled and nice, the TV is always tuned to something you actually want to watch, and the nail color selection is mighty. Also… The prices. You don’t have to sacrifice your expensive-​bottle-​of-​wine-​for-​dinner (just me? Probably not) just to meet the bare minimum of corporate appearance metrics.
Then… Recently, this little nail salon gem added eyelash extensions to their repertoire. It’s not something I had really considered because all of my friends who get eyelash extensions pay $ 120-​$ 200 for the initial set and between $ 80-​$ 120 for the fill!!! Jeeeeezzzzzzuuuuussssss. No thank you.
This place charges $ 80 for the initial set and around $ 40 for a fill… Which is affordable. And it’s worth mentioning that DEANNE does a FANTASTIC job! I’m complimented constantly on my lashes!
Tip: Make an appointment for eyelash extensions
Also, have a cocktail or two beforehand and you will basically just take a lovely nap and wake up with a new face.

Very mediocre gel manicure and a painful pedicure — won’t be coming back.
I usually go to Healthy Nails Salon out in Sellwood to get my nails done (they do an AMAZING shellac manicure, with OPI shellac), but I didn’t have time last week to drive out from NE Portland to Sellwood for a manicure, so I tried this place. The lady who did my nails was nice, but she gave me a very painful pedicure — digging way too far into my toes and was very unapologetic when I told her she was hurting me. And the gel manicure was not good at all — she clipped my nails unevenly, and did not fix them the way I asked her too. The polish is peeling less than a week later.
I’ve heard a lot of people say they love this place for acrylics, but I wouldn’t really recommend this place for anything else.

Deanne did my first lash extensions, and I loved it. She really listened to what I wanted, and they came out very natural and complimenting of my face. The next time I went I asked for them to be fuller, and they were perfect! I recommend bringing a picture, and she will do a great job of making them look just like you want!

I started going to Portland’s Hottest Nails a little over 5 years ago and have been hooked ever since! I’ve had almost everything done here from my nails and toes, to eyebrow waxing and tinting and just recently I got eyelash extensions! Which I absolutely LOVE! They didn’t take too long, didn’t hurt at all and I cant even feel them! They look great and I don’t even have to wear mascara! (I think I’m addicted LOL)
I never go anywhere else to get my nails done because nobody is as good as Deanne! She is great with creative designs and even simple french tips! Not to mention the fact that shes super friendly & funny!
They are also great with large parties. I took my sisters whole bridal party here for manis and pedis the day before her wedding and they were so accommodating! We had a blast and all of us left happy and pampered!
I highly recommend Deanne, Brian, TK, Cindy & all of the staff at Portland’s Hottest Nails!

Not impressed. The pedicure was marginal with a nonexistent foot massage. The chairs are outdated and do not work very well. The ventilation is very poor, so you are breathing fumes the entire time. Will not be coming back.

DO NOT GET LASHES HERE! No matter what special they run, it’s not worth it. I’ve had lash extensions many times and never had a worse experience than here.
Where to start… I got a groupon for Deanne, made an appointment and showed up at my time to a crowded waiting area and several pedi chairs occupied. They acted surprised when I said I was there for lashes, and 35 minutes after my appointment time I was finally led back to the waxing room in back, with less than 5 words spoken to me the entire time. I was not offered a beverage while I waited.
When I got back to the room, the door was left open with the room noise flooding in, and she told me to lay down on the table. No explanation of what she was doing, no questions, no forms to fill out. No mention of care or upkeep. no handwashing or prepping the room. I had to stop her and ask what kind of lashes, what curve (she only offers C or D curve, and I was told on the phone they had J which is what Id asked for) and what length. She then told me that other lengths are a $ 5 up charge, and another curve was a $ 5 charge as well, because it wasn’t covered in the groupon (which isnt listed anywhere in the terms). She then told me she changes the deal every month and there was no consistent pricing – and quoted me less than the groupon price for a walk in!
She would not mix different lengths of lashes for a natural look (shorter inner corners, longer outer edges, varied in the middle) unless i paid an upcharge, so ii declined and then she told me that lengths vary from package to package anyway — when the mm length was early indicated on the bag of lashes in her hand. Blatant lie. I should have just left, but I’d already paid. I figured even if they weren’t great, they’d be ok. I was WRONG.
She laid me down, dumped a pile of lashes beside my head, squirted the black superglue onto a business card (wtf) and taped my lower lashes out of the way. No comfortable gel eye pads like other places… This was basically masking tape. After about 5 minutes of gluing and talking to someone in the other room, she told me not to move and then proceeded to bring ANOTHER customer into the room for a wax with me still laying on the table!!! The other customer seemed disturbed when she saw me – mid application – in the room she was to be waxed in. «Uh… theres… uhm… someone in here already…»
Deanne threw my jacket and purse onto my legs without a word and waxed the other woman. She did not wash her hands between touching implements or customers, and again, I should have walked out right then. I didn’t. For the sake of cheap, and slight disbelief that this was actually happening… I stuck it out.
It couldn’t be this bad.
The total set was applied in less than an hour, and I’d never seen a full set happen so fast. Here’s why: she glued CLUMPS of lashes not only to my lashes, but to my actual EYELIDS. She did not clean the area, did not seperate lashes when gluing, didnt even bother combing them straight. She did not sanitize the instruments she used. The glue was globbed on several lashes at a time, the lashes looked chunky and unnatural – worse than if I’d used a cheap halloween strip lash. They felt hard and crunchy, and they were very uncomfortable. The worst part? 3 days later they were PAINFUL. As my natural lashes were growing – this pulled on the clumps of overlapping and crossed glued lash extensions — which proceeded to rip off skin from my eyelids as well as some of my natural lashes! It was painful to blink, to close my eyes, to even put my head on the pillow to sleep. At this point I couldn’t take it and had to go to another (pleasantly sanitary, polite, informative) lash place to have the lashes professionally removed and what was left of my natural lashes salvaged. This was by far the most UNPROFESSIONAL, UNSANITARY, UNPLEASANT, and UNHEALTHY experience I’ve ever had in a salon. I’m shocked I didn’t get a serious eye infection.
Aside from poor technique and shitty outcome, they have an unsanitary and unsafe process for lash extensions. The health code should look into them!
Also, check the photos of the clumpy shitty lashes that were glued to my eyelids instead of my lashes!

Deanne took such great care of me! I had a full set of solar acrylics (done at another salon) that needed a fill as they were lifting way too earlier. As it turns out, they needed more than a fill, they had to be replaced. Even though I ‘d only scheduled time for a fill she made time for a whole new set. They turned out so well as she’d taken extra care when I told her I had engagement photos scheduled 2 days from then. I’m looking forward to returning for all my nail needs!

Don’t get your legs waxed here. They missed spots and my legs are not smooth. Their waxing room was booked so she waxed my legs on the chair. I don’t have much hair on my legs so she skipped back altogether. Pedicure was good though.

this is the longest lasting pedicure I’ve ever had. it’s been a month and still no chipping. the staff is very friendly; it’s a nice place. I’ll definitely be coming back. it wasn’t the longest foot massage ever but I actually prefer that — I don’t need someone to rub my feet for an hour. I just want my feet cleaned up real good. which is exactly what I got. minus one star for the so-​so manicure and they need to vacuum the rugs in the front.

Sad that I have to downgrade this place. The reason is – the service is still the same great service etc. UNLESS you get the one tech who cuts you. The last two times I have been there I got cut it was very painful. There were two different ways I got cut — first time she was too quick with the cuticle scissors. Second time, she filed so fast and so hard and didn’t lift her nail file above my finger high enough so she actually sawed into my finger. I complained at checkout but they didn’t offer any kind of discount or refund, only an apology. Oh well. So if you go, try to get a male nail tech, or ask for one of the younger ladies. The gal who cut me is the oldest of the bunch. Sorry grandma, no disrespect for your age, but I just really can’t stand to get cut up again. I think this place could be great if you get the right nail tech, and if they moved folks who aren’t very good at nails into other jobs.

So I found this place last minute by searching eye lash extensions on Groupon. SO glad I went! Deanne was so friendly and made my first treatment a breeze. I know its only eyelashes, but it was my first time… So yes, I was nervous! She talked to me the whole time and made me very comfortable and aware of everything she did. I cannot wait to go back for a fill, and will be suggesting her to everyone I know!

This place was clean, polite, quick without making me feel like they were rushing, and incredibly accurate! I didn’t have to point out a single spot where they painted my cuticles! I have a perfect shellac manicure, definitely the best I have ever had in Portland! Count me in as a regular customer!

Very happy. I went here yesterday for an acrylic full set and they did an awesome job! I didn’t have an appointment and I only had to wait about 10 minutes. (Unlike Lotus Nails next door who very brashly told me they didn’t have time for me and that I should have made an appointment) It was a steal at $ 25 and she really accommodated to my needs. I brought in a picture of short pointed nails and was kind of nervous since it’s not something commonly asked for, but she kept checking with me to make sure it was looking how I wanted it to. Something I really look for in salons is that they cater to what I want and they definitely made sure I left happy. I love my nails! They were also very nice and personable. Parking was pretty easy to find as well.
Next time I will dish out the extra $ 10 for the Shellac Polish since sleeping left some impressions on these.
Will definitely be going back.

I have been coming to this place for a long time. I go to Sue every time and she is fantastic. She is careful, caring and friendly. The place is clean, and you are greeted the second you walk in the door. And now you can get coffee, tea or wine while waiting. :)

I’ve been a regular pedicure customer here since I can’t remember when. I have strayed to other nail salons where the atmosphere is more spa-​like, and the prices match the mood, but I always come back to The Hotness.
I never have an appointment and I go exclusively on weekends, late morning or early afternoon. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes. The place is clean, they’ve recently remodeled, and they bought a fleet of new massage chairs which really do knead and smush all those tension points in my back, instead of just shaking me around during the pedicure.
This is a family business, and most everyone is very friendly. I do agree with some reviewers’ assessments that the foot massage can vary in length and intensity, based upon your nail tech, but I’ve never been disappointed or felt short-changed…er, rubbed.
The color selection is great, lots of OPI and China Glaze. They’re very attentive about the water temperature, and when all is said and done, my toenails shine like all get out, and that shine lasts for weeks.

There are the nail places that you go in, sit down, get your nails all fixed up and pretty and leave with a feeling of: nice nails, but was it worth putting up with the consistent «I feel like I’m being talked about.» feeling while you wince at the nail drill’s burning into flesh sensation?
This place was out of the ordinary, so far above the normal level of service fantastic that I will actually make appointments ahead of time instead of being the acrylic nail fill slut that I usually am!
I had the pleasure of being treated to a smart, funny, and talented nail tech by the name (I believe) of Wei. He was conscientious about my sensitive nails and asked some very specific nail questions before he got started in an effort to provide the very best possible customer service.
I will continuously update this review as I see necessary but, as of the second week from my last fill (with still pretty nails!!), I’m a loyal customer. Highly recommend!
