Rarely am I so disappointed with a service that I become disgusted.
Looking to grab a shirt for my dad for Father’s Day, I wander in and talk to the gentleman behind the counter. I show him what I’d like the shirt to look like (from a picture on my phone), and he sketches out an image on a notepad. The image says «This is what an awesome dad looks like» with 2 thumbs-​up. I asked him if he’d like for me to email him a copy of the image to his email, and he shrugs it off and says «finding it online will be no problem.» Simple enough. He jots down my name and number on the notepad, along with the size and sketch, and I hand him $ 25. He didn’t print out a receipt or anything, but just said he’d give me a call when it was finished (1 – 2 days).
Days pass and I receive no call. The day before Father’s Day, I go in to ask what’s up. The guy acts surprised and says «I thought you’d show up the next day.» «Well… You never called.» «Sorry,» he says in the most insincere manner, «must’ve lost your number.» He pulls out the shirt and it says «This what an awesome dad looks like.» First off, what?! Dude, do you even proofread stuff before printing it?! Second, it was a HIDEOUS font and looked nothing like the original image. I point it out to the gentleman, and he says «Oh. That’s weird.» After some silence, I ask «Can you redo it???» and he gives me this dirty look and says «If you want to, I guess.» He then walks off and another employee comes up to me and says «You want us to redo it?» «Yes, it’s spelled wrong…» What kind of place is this? The story continues… Just wait.
I go back the next day to get the new version of the shirt. The gentleman looks unhappy to see me and goes to the back and brings the shirt. I give it a quick scan — the grammar is correct, but the font is still gnarly. Then I notice… The size is wrong. He printed it on a large, rather than a medium. I tell the gentleman, once more, and he says «you wanted a large.» And I remind him that he wrote down «medium» on his notepad, like I had asked. He says «well I lost that paper.» I just sit there and stare at him, keeping calm the whole time, waiting for him to offer to redo the shirt. He slowly folds up the shirt and waits, and I realize that he’s not going to redo it. «You know,» he says, «I think the last shirt was a large, too.» He walks up to the display rack and pulls the faulty shirt off the rack. YES, they were selling the «this what an awesome dad looks like» shirt. He brings me the shirt in the most snarky manner and shows me the «large» label. «Yes, but I had said I wanted a medium. I didn’t notice the size on that last one because I was too focused on the terrible grammar.» He goes «Well, I lost that note. Sorry.» I reply «That’s not my fault. That’s your fault.» Again, he just stares at me. «Fine, I’ll take the shirt.» $ 25 wasted.
I wouldn’t be nearly as upset if they were actually kind about the whole thing, rather than feeling the need to try and prove their customers wrong. My word. They lost the receipt, and it’s all MY fault? I should’ve known better than to trust that they would do their work, and do it well. Plus, who tries to sell a faulty shirt?!
What a scummy place. Avoid it at all costs. You’re better off with a t-​shirt, paper, and hot glue gun.
