Dollar Tree

First off I think dollar tree is a great store chain.
Everyone always looks at me strange when I say it’s one of my favorite stores.
I needed to get some cookie tins and storage bins so I looked for the closest dollar tree near me.
This one came up but there were so many bad reviews that I was skeptical to come here.
I came anyway.
It was pouring rain and the store had tons of folks milling around.
I walked in and saw the lockers that everyone spoke about but there were no store employees forcing folks to lock up their items.
I walked around with my pocket book and reusable shopping bags.
This is a huge dollar tree.
Well organized and had tons of random things you may not think you need but you get anyway.
They had a much bigger food and cards section than any dollar tree I have been to
This is a great store for seasonal holidays. They always have a ton of decorations and things that go along with that holiday.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
I’ll for sure come back to this location.

The staff here has always been so helpful and friendly. I got a broom for one dollar! I also got a jar for one dollar. I got 8 balloons for 8 dollars. I got 3 packs of sponges for 3 dollars! I got a candy bar for a dollar. I got 11 pregnancy tests for 11 dollars, but only used one because turns out I was pregnant.

You know, you’d think this location would get the hint that people don’t like to PAY to lock up their belongings before shopping at a DOLLAR TREE. No. Not Nordstroms. Not at a high end store. DOLLAR TREE. Not only does that not make sense, it scares away customers and offends people.
Can I also say that this is Portland? You know, that city where they banned plastic? And it’s residents are known for bringing their reusable bags. So why ask them to lock up their bags?
Aside from that, the guy at the door is rude, items are well stocked, I found what I needed, and then left to never return again.
Get rid of your bag policy, please. If many people don’t like it, take a hint.

I’m not a thief, and I don’t appreciate being treated like one as soon as I walk into the store, thank you very much. This is the only dollar tree I’ve ever been to that’s done this. Not everyone, especially plastic oriented shoppers like myself have quarters on them. Hadn’t somebody left their quarter behind, I wouldn’t have been able to put my backpack into a locker. I just call out their system to be crap. I don’t care how general they require everyone to put up any bags they may have, there’s no other stores that I’ve ever been to that do this. Not shopping here again.

So here I am writing a review for a Dollar Tree. Why is that? It’s because I’ve rarely seen a Dollar Tree of this vintage.
As far as Dollar Tree goes, this is «as good as it gets,» but I can’t give this place 5 stars. That’s because the max I’d give any Dollar Tree is 4 stars, with some coming in at 1, 2, or 3 stars, depending on the location and who is working there when you ask for things or are at the checkout stand.
Back to this Dollar Tree, it is huge. It is in a «cool» part of town, at least to those who live there. I like the hinterlands, but I will gladly stop here if in «the 97 232.» While it’s not in the enclosed part of Lloyd Center, it’s right across the street from it and an overhead structure as you cross that street, probably Halsey itself, will keep you dry. Also, the neighborhood must be «cool,» with all the trendy pubs, eateries, and «old Portland» homes that will zap you with some sticker shock.
Some people buy many things at Dollar Tree. I rarely exceed spending $ 10 when I go in there. For me, it’s about toiletries, travel sizes, batteries, small electrical items, and maybe, just maybe, an impulse purchase.
This Dollar Tree feels more like a supermarket than it does a Dollar Tree slotted into a strip mall, as most are. Not only that, the selection within each category appears to be more vast. This store is kept in tidy and orderly condition. There is even a fairly large area for food and frozen goods, which is atypically large for Dollar Trees. Also, there is a parking deck that has several levels, and serves other merchants such as LA Fitness (Signature Club), right next door. And it’s free. If needing to do a Dollar Tree stop and in or around Lloyd Center, be sure to stop at this one.

This Dollar Tree is awesome. Not awesome as far as stores go, but definitely awesome as far as Dollar Tree store locations go. Everything in the store is $ 1, and of course that means that most of it you can get at a super market for less than a $ 1 (especially when taking scale into account), but some of the stuff they have is genuinely a good deal. What’s more, is that despite its location next to dodgy Lloyd Mall, they keep the store in good order. Plus, this location has a good selection of merchandise and keeps their shelves stocked pretty well.
Beware of shopping at any «everything’s a dollar» store and know that a lot of the stuff there isn’t worth $ 1. However, if you know what you’re doing and you want to shop at Dollar Tree, this is the location for you.
* Tip — this location has an EXCELLENT assortment of winter gloves, hats, and scarves for $ 1 and as of the time of this review, they haven’t sold out.

Who doesn’t love dollar tree?
Obviously, it’s a great deal, even if the selection varies way to fast. The service here is great. There is a greeter at the door, lockers to store your heavy mall purchases, quick and friendly checkout. And a HUGE selection. This is the biggest dollar tree I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen at least a hundred of them.)
I’ll let you in on my dollar tree secrets, and it wont even cost you a dollar.
The single pack of toilet tissue lasts longer than the four pack. ;-)
They take food stamps for most food items.
Don’t waste your money on the K-​cups. They don’t work well and taste HORRIBLE.
If you see something you know you like, buy them all. You will never find them there again.

This is the biggest dollar tree I’ve seen, with lots of space to move around. As far as dollar store go, this is one I highly recommend. They have all sorts of things, from coming utensils, cleaning supplies, party decorations, food, and pet toys.
The setup in this store is great, because the actual aisles are not tall, in fact they’re very short, which means you can see the entire store from anywhere inside. You can also reach everything if you’re short or in a wheelchair. It Also makes it convenient if you go in with someone else and you’re looking for them.
The store is also very clean and organized, and the shelves are well stocked. There were employees nearby at all times, making it convenient to find them in case I had a question.
Best part is that everything is $ 1, no exception. I’ve been to many «dollar stores» and only a few items are a dollar. Not here. No price check necessary. It’s all the same price, and that’s a wonderful thing…

I do admit I love the dollar store. It’s always been on of my fav little quick one stop places that I sometimes find actual name brand stuff there which is always a plus! Downfall to this location the fact that its so ghetto they make you lock your items in lockers that YOU have to pay for. Granted it’s only $.25 but seriously, it’s that bad that people need to pay to leave their bag/​shopping bags/​purses in a locker when really 90% of people more than likely are not going to steal stuff, so because of that 10% or less we have to be unconvinced and we have to pay to lock up our purses and bags? To me, and I think I can speak for a lot of people, that’s a joke. I do not and will not be forced to leave my purse in attended in a locker. MY PURSE people… That alone makes me never want to go back to this location which is quite upsetting since this is probably the largest location in the metro area that I’ve personally been to anyways. I also won’t be sending my business from the hotel since you basically make them feel like a criminal from the get-​go as soon as someone walks in your doors.

I wish I could give ZERO stars!
This store will not allow you to carry an empty reusable shopping bag into the store to place your items for purchase in. AND the rude asshole at the door must think he is Mr. DollarTree. I will NEVER return.

People legitimately shop for their weekly groceries here. I never knew that happened at the $ tree. Who knew?
I was surprised to have to put my purse and purchases in a locker. If someone steals from the Dollar Tree, they’re desperate. I mean, it’s all $ 1 items. Who cares? I hate feeling uncomfortable from the get-​go.
The one redeeming thing about this place is that it does have more than most every other Dollar Tree. I went to get little tiny trash cans and ended up finding solar lights for outside. They ended up being better than the more expensive ones I bought elsewhere.

Look, if you are going to play retail cop and think I’m pulling a fast one on you, you might want to consider where this fast one is being pulled off. It’s the Dollar Tree. Items cost a dollar. I doubt anyone will be entering this establishment and bring wares from other stores and attempt to exchange them! Seriously.
And you might want to drop the stank attitude especially when the «policy» that you are quoting me is wrong.
Typically, I haven’t had an issue going into this store, but for some reason the guy who I had this encounter with was just a phenomenal doucheknocker. Unhelpful, condescending and just plain wrong. When the manager came out and helped me, she told me that I could leave the items at a register and continue shopping. I made sure to let her know that I was going to the other cashier because she was nicer.

I have to admit it: I love the dollar store. This particular one is next to my gym so I stop in on a regular basis. There are certain things I never pay full price for anymore: lighters, greeting cards, gift bags and holiday-​themed decorations. Why bother? The dollar store has them all for ONE dollar!
My roommate and I throw a few parties a year and always make it a point to swing by the dollar store for decorating ideas. We’ve bought things for raffle prizes, decorations, themed cups and more. It’s pretty easy to throw a good party on a budget when everything is a dollar. Thank you, dollar store, for making our yellow party a success. Yellow cups, yellow crayons, yellow tablecloth, yellow candles, yellow bowls, yellow everything! It was pretty awesome.
If you’re like me, you’re always scrambling to get a birthday card at the last minute when invited to a party or in time to pop it in the mail. Now I go to the dollar store and buy 10 cards at once so I always have one available in a pinch. I’m pretty smart. I also stock up on gift bags, including wine gift bags, cuz I always have wine at the house so all I gotta do is throw one in a gift bag, write «Happy Something!» and boom, I’m showing up with a gift. So great.
My roommate and I have close to 100 candles in the house (really) so those long lighters come in handy. $ 3 at a grocery store? No thanks; I’d rather pay $ 1.
I don’t know why others are complaining about the service, I’ve always been greeted enthusiastically (the greeter is hilarious) and had helpful service from employees and the manager.
Oh! And they have Big League Chew! That’s worth 5 stars right there. It makes the best bubbles! I’m all about the old school candy and paying $ 1 for it makes me downright giddy. I love my dollar store.

I stopped by the Lloyd Center store today and had a bad experience. I needed one item and from the time I walked into the store until I was in the check out line was less than one minute.
I live in a neighborhood that is very walkable, and I do not have a car so I walk everywhere I need to go, including the Lloyd Center store. It’s about 5 blocks from my house. Portlanders in general try to walk more and drive less and I am no exception.
The Lloyd Center store was the last stop on my way home and I had one shopping bag with me which I intended to use for my dollar tree purchase as well. I got into the store and to the aisle that had the item I needed when someone kept saying excuse me over and over. I had no idea who he was talking to and continued to the check out lane.
After I got to the front of line (there were 3 people ahead of me) he told me I had to lock up the bag I came in with. I told him no, I wouldn’t do that and he told me not to come back unless I was going to lock up my bag.
I have numerous issues with this. 1. I shouldn’t have to pay to use a locker in order to shop at your store. 2. If the company is going to do business in my neighborhood then they need to embrace the culture and vibe of my neighborhood. They are our guest. They are asking us to support them and in turn neighbors who need jobs. They do not get to treat me like a thief in my own neighborhood while I am trying to support my neighbors. 3. the lockers are so tiny that if I had been wearing my back pack today it would not have fit in the locker. 4. They need to realize that their store is situated in a neighborhood where most people walk to do their errands and most people are going to have parcels with them. It’s a fact. Get used to it and adjust their practices accordingly. 5. The city of Portland has banned plastic bags in most larger stores which means most customers are going to bring their own bags. People will flat out be coming into the store with back packs and shopping bags because other stores require you to bring your own. 6. The fact they still use plastic bags in their stores underscores how insensitive their company is toward the needs and wants of its customers in this particular area.
I won’t be back. It’s so not worth the hassle. There is nothing in there I can’t get on amazon.

I was at the Lloyd Center Dollar Tree a few days ago to pick up my special order that I placed online for 4 cases of vases. I regularly order online and have the shipment delivered to a nearby store. In the past, I’ve gotten excellent customer service at the Beaverton Dollar Tree on Walker Rd.
I was shocked that the few employees I dealt with at the Lloyd Center location were seemingly unwilling to help. They made it seem like I was a big hassle and they didn’t offer to help me get my boxes to my car (which the Beaverton store always did, with a handtruck). In fact, the Lloyd Center people just rolled out my boxes to the counter and told me that I can’t use the cart. I asked for help and after the 3^rd time asking, one employee reluctantly agreed to help me. She haphazardly piled the boxes into a crappy shopping cart and rolled it out to my car and then abandoned me with it (while I had another box and bag in my arms). Unfortunately there was a slope in the parking garage, making it hard for me to handle all the boxes of fragile glassware.
Long story short, if you’re going to order online, you might consider paying the extra shipping/​handling costs to not deal with bad customer service.

I shopped at Dollar Tree store at Lloyd Center recently. I used a locker with a key using a quarter to put my Macy’s shopping bag away, and when I finished shopping, my son (seven-​year old) got the bag from the locker and the quarter back. There was an African American man at the entrance greeting shoppers, and he told my son to give him the quarter. When this happened, I was 10 feet away from him helping my
other son to empty his shopping basket, but overheard this. Later, I asked my son what happened to the quarter he got back from the locker, and he told me he gave it to the man who told him to give it to him. I was shocked and outraged to hear this, but we had to leave the store right away since
we had to go to someplace else. My son was also shocked and disappointed because he was going to put the quarter in his bank at home. This experience spoiled the rest of our day and I am really disappointed that this store employs a man who would take money from a child. Be careful when you use their locker next time!

Likes the Dollar tree, has always had good luck there but is annoyed that when you walk in there now you have to have a quarter to put your bags in a locker. I am the person who NEVER carries change so when I walk in there to grab a few things and am told I need to have the quarter or just leave my stuff sitting on the ledge while I run in is ridiculous. I am sorry if there are stupid people out there who decide they need to steal from the Dollar Tree but shit dude, seriously? WHen I was told this instead of setting my items down, I just left and thought screw it. I still love the dollar tree and the items I can get there.

I love every products in this store and it’s the better Dollar Store in Portland.

Three things you may not know about your friendly Lloyd Center-​area Dollar Tree:
They sell pregnancy tests. Real-​live PREGNANCY TESTS. Somewhere, Diablo Cody just started cracking up. I rarely resort to the Internet-​sanctioned shorthand that the kids like to use but Oh. Em. Gee. Of course, I can’t attest to the accuracy of these tests. If I’m ever in a position to let you know, then you know I’ve spent too much time Unilocaling and not enough time working.
They have their own Dollar Tree radio network. It played the Boogie Shoes song while I was there. I really wanted a spontaneous dance fever to catch throughout the store that made all the shoppers shake it 70’s-style up and down the aisles, but it never happened.
They carry Yardley London Oatmeal and Almond Pumiced Soap. We are big believers in soap with pumice action in our household and will be stocking up for our lathering needs here from now on, so you can’t knock the DT for usefulness. There are also books, baby foods, wrapping paper, scrapbooking materials, massive Arizona Green Tea bottles — all that stuff you kinda wanted to buy but were always like, «But what about beer money?»
