We had an extremely complicated move. We moved from Portland to the Big Island of Hawaii. That entailed getting a shipping container delivered to our street, packing up the house, loading the container, having the container taken to the port in Seattle and placed on the ship, shipped across the Pacific, trucked to our house in Hawaii, and unloaded here.
We had several options of how to undertake this colossal move: 1. Hiring a full service moving company for $ 20,000-$ 25,000 and letting them to everything. 2. Doing everything ourselves. 3. A happy medium of ordering the container ourselves and hiring movers to pack the house and container while organizing transport of the container ourselves and hiring movers on the other end. We chose option 3.
Jordan came in as the lowest bid, BY FAR, of anyone I spoke to, which made me nervous, but he was also the only person I felt was being honest with me. He itemized his costs on his quote (the only company to do that) and was completely candid in any question I asked. I decided to go with Prime after talking to several larger, more experienced moving companies. I’m very happy we did. He and his guys came out and packed up our house over two and half days. There is now a small forest moon of Endor missing its forest because of the amount of packing paper used, but not a single item (that we have opened so far) broke in the shipping. They spent another day packing our container.
It was packed so well that the company we hired in Hawaii, who unpack containers every single day, commented on how well it was packed. High praise on the island.
I recommend Prime Relocation Services without reservations. Use these guys. They are nice. They are honest. They will do a good job. Don’t forget to tip them!
