Purest Café takes great pride in its organic coffee brewed fresh for you, but we thought it tasted pretty bad. I’m not a vegan, but my friend is and has been one for years, and even she thought my rice-milk mocha was gross. Maybe we were just there on a bad day, but I wouldn’t go back.

At the market I ate four Japanese-style crepes(not all at once), and James ate gyros with famous house sauce and legit pita. Purest Café makes the crepes; they use rice and gluten-free flour and fold the crêpe in a triangle shape so you can hold it. I felt mildly concerned for hygiene at the market as the staff did not wear gloves. If you’re allergic to cheese, for instance, there’s cross-over as they grab without washing from prior crêpe batches. It seems the space and demand doesn’t necessarily allow for that. But hey, they’re cheap, tasty, and I ate four of them, so there you go! I like my crepes with a whole avocado, banana, and a strip of whip. Yum!

Delicious Italian sodas with unique combinations! The owner was super nice and gave my friend and I a drink while we waited outside for the Beauty Bar to open. We had the Lavender and Strawberry ! Thumbs Up to this place

This place basically sucks. Is it a good place to hang out and work on something on the laptop? Yes. Generally quiet(except on gamer night — yikes) and nice building although the artwork upstairs is pretty tacky. But if you plan on getting a cup of coffee with some degree of speed, think again. Yeah, it’s great that this guy makes each cup to order. But man, it’s coffee okay. Part of the pleasure of coffee places is the ease of order. If you like waiting a really long time for a cup of coffee then this is your kind of place.

Very disappointed in all the experiences I’ve had here. Slow service, mediocre coffee and inconvenient hours are the reasons for giving this place only one star. It is typically not open before 8:00 am, which is when a lot of people frequent coffee shops. Perhaps this is a better late night spot. Stumptown and Floyds are better options, in my humble opinion.

This is one of the few hands down five star reviews I’ve written. My girlfriend and I were determined to find a coffee shop that was something we hadn’t tried before. Purest Café is exactly what the title suggests. They strive to be organic and as the man who worked there told me, «just make good coffee». Good coffee indeed! I am so in awe of their iced latte. It’s a work of art and you can tell this is a place that the people who run it take great pride in. I only had my debit card with me, and my girlfriend just had a one dollar bill and the man who served us insisted on still making my drink and giving my girlfriend her cookie! He simply said to remember to pay him the rest the next time we were in that part of town. Needless to say, I took a handful of their business cards and plan on handing them out to friends. The back of each business card has a discount on it as well. So please PLEASE give this place a visit and support Purest Café… and after you do, sit down in the peaceful shop and enjoy an amazing beverage and wonderful atmosphere!

Being not much of a coffee drinker I can’t really speak on behalf of anything other than the crepes and the café itself. The café is cozy and quaint, filled with warm colors and on the wall is a hand painted mural of what makes Portland, Portland. The artist of the mural also seems to have a few paintings posted around the café for sale that are quite good. The service is friendly and fast. Although the fact that they only accept cash is a bit of a downside, but they do have an ATM handy inside the café. The idea of organic coffee and other organic beverages are interesting but what I really enjoyed was the Japanese styled crepes and fresh gelato. I got the mixed fruit w/whipped crème and gelato ice cream. Being the most expensive crêpe($ 6.75) it was definitely worth it! They had all kinds of crepes including breakfast ones as well. Excellent presentation in forms of the preparations and cooking. Unlike the crepes made in trucks he really knew what he was doing. Two strawberries a banana and kiwi, covered in whipped crème and a scoop of mango gelato wrapped in cone form and placed in a convenient wrap for holding. I’ve never been a big fan of gelato but my girlfriend wanted it and it worked quite well in the crêpe with the fresh fruits. The crêpe itself was crisp, warm, and soft all at the same time. Bottom line, if you find yourself in this part of downtown, stop by and check it out!

Every drink is made to order. They grind the beans for each drink individually and meticulously clean between orders! I know, we used to run a coffee shop, remember? It’s not slow service either! I love the exposed brick, colorful murals, and loft-like feel the interior offers. They do smoothies, sandwiches, and have some pastries on the counter — but I can only voucher for their drinks so far.

This place just opened up on 9÷9÷09. Great little place, with all the essentials: free WiFi, good coffee and friendly folks behind the counter. One of those folks is Rainbow, a very pleasant woman who gladly served us all free coffee at her Grand Opening. It’s not Stumptown, but the beans aren’t bad and my americano was pretty good. The fact that this place is practically connected to my work makes it my new go-to café when I’m downtown, but I’ll still be taking trips around the corner to Stumptown.
