Pretty good coffee, wonderful pastries. And the rudest, most arrogant owners imaginable. A couple weeks ago they yelled down an entire table of people having a business meeting. One of those people did apparently walk in with coffee from somewhere else, which understandably, is a big no-no. But the rest of the group seemed to have purchased their beverages on site. At any rate, what was astonishing was the venom that each owner, in turn, unleashed on that table. Enough to curdle a latte. No amount of apologizing by the people, none of their offers to buy more food or drink, was good enough. Bottom line, their tantrum was more important than their customers. Creepy as could be.

This place is great. A plethora of different home made syrups to make flavorful lattes, 3 different milk alternatives(almond, coconut, and soy), and home made pastries that are to die for. My favorite would be the marionberry muffin. The service is awesome. It’s got a cute, old style ambience. The coffee– out of this world. Definitely give this place a try if you have not already!

Seriously, my favorite coffee place in the city! Always greeted with a smile and she makes the best coffee! They also have amazing baguettes and cookies that they make.

Just really great coffee and atmosphere. They make all their own pastries and sandwiches and they are amazing. My favorite coffee shop in the city. Plus, they are so friendly :)

Absolute worst costumer service I have ever received. The lady working the store was the rudest person I have ever met. Awful to the customers. We were so upset that we walked out without buying anything. We love to go to local places but we would never support a place that treats their customers like crap to get off on some power trip for themselves. Never again.

Cute spot that also caters to those that look to work from a coffee shop. Simple design with that clean loft feel. Upstairs has the space for those looking to work and focus, downstairs comfortable for conversation. The back space pours into the building lobby that also is good for conversation and drinks. I had the bottled Kombucha here to change things up a bit. You’ll need a code for the bathroom.

Really good! Lauren makes her own syrups and they’re more flavorful than sweet. She also bakes fresh muffins and cro-nuts and they always smell amazing.

Cute spot! Fresh roses on the table, fun décor and a nice loft. Cool place to hang with a friend or dive in to a good book. The ice pour over coffee was delicious.

Our group of 7(5 adults and 2 kids) stopped in after a tour of downtown yesterday. The barista that was working was charming and helpful. She helped each of us decide what we wanted and even helped to make some of their specialty hot drinks into cooler options since it was so hot outside. My salted carmel iced latte was absolutely delicious! My kids ordered the lemonade, and I was completely blown away when the barista spend the next several minute HANDSQUEEZING lemons! Really.. . I’m serious. It was fresh squeezed. She added extra sweetener for my kids, and left my husband’s tart, just how he likes it. The rest of the group ordered a mixture of iced coffee/lattes, and iced tea lattes. Every single one was delicious!

This place is by one of one the coolest little treasures I’ve ever seen. Everyone that walks in is treated like a well known friend. And the caramel and muffins… I don’t know where to begin, but my mouth waters at the thought! A little extra info: Free wifi that doesn’t boot you off =D, calm and quiet environment, a lot of seating(some on a loft, some below, some in a cool open area), and they have a good grilled cheese and soup for lunch!

I visit this place at least twice a week. I’m ready to admit that I spend a good chunk of my paycheck on iced salted caramel lattes and americanos at Simple. Local. Coffee. The homemade syrups are superb. The muffins are even better. Every time they introduce a new muffin, I have to try it! Seriously, I’ve never had a better muffin. You will get decent prices, excellent service, delicious treats, and strong, glorious coffee. The ambience is perfect. This beautiful business will be booming soon enough!

I love this place!!! It’s become one of my favorite coffee shops. Thanks to my workfrom friend Darren Buckner for introducing me to Simple Local Coffee. Besides having great Chai tea, pastries and homemade soup it just has incredible atmosphere. SFC has lots of space(including a loft w/dartboards), plenty of seating options, good WiFi, good distribution of outlets, very comfortable space and welcoming owners. Lauren is very friendly and just an all around great host!

Get here in the morning for the warm, fresh out of the oven pastries. The marionberry was particularly good. Espresso was excellent, as was the service. I would highly recommend this place over the other more well known shops in the area. Will be back for lunch for sure.

I stumbled into Simple by accident, but what a delicious surprise it was! Outstanding coffee complimented by great pastries and an inviting space – what’s not to love?

Delicious coffee, beautiful space and wonderful staff. Home made flavored sauces are their specialty such as lavender or salted caramel to add to your latte. I only knocked a star because I wish they had at least one, healthy, non pastry type food to eat, although their pastries looked amazing! This place is a hidden treasure downtown that you must check out!

Simple. Local. Coffee. More like, Simply. Awesome. Coffee. This is a fantastic location for great coffee and baked goods in a great space. The always friendly staff makes it warm and welcoming. When you walk in, you’re greeted by the endorphin-releasing scents of freshly baked muffins, cro-nuts, and other assorted goodies, woven amidst the aromas of rich coffee in a sensory tapestry that, like a favorite quilt, envelopes you completely as soon as you take that first sip of one of their many drink offerings or that first bite of a muffin, still warm from the oven. Their house-made caramel sauces must be explored, either by themselves or mixed. My personal favorite is the Salted Caramel mixed with Hazelnut Caramel in a latte that’s paired with one of the amazing apple muffins, which also happen to be drizzled with a bit of that hazelnut caramel. The only downside for me is that I no longer work downtown and so can only visit this gem on rare occasions. While that’s probably good for my waistline, it’s not so great for my caffeine cravings and I’m completely spoiled for mainstream coffees now. If you’re downtown for work or Saturday Market, or don’t mind taking a slight detour, stop in to see Lauren and crew at Simple Local Coffee. You won’t be disappointed, unless, of course, you’re from out of town and unable to enjoy this gem again and again.

Homemade pastries, great coffee, great cocoa. Friendly staff. Comfy and warm. What more do you need? Lauren uses local ingredients as much as possible, and you can tell when you taste her pastries and beverages. She pays attention to the little details. Her muffins, cronuts(yes, you have to try one), and other goodies are so much better than what you find at other coffee places. Oh, and a beautiful space with free wifi. Nice place to hang out away from the busy downtown bustle. Close to waterfront.
