24 hour grocery store that is conveniently located…

I shop here a lot. In my pajamas, and worse. I mean, its no people of walmart or any of that shady shite, but its easy going. I like that its close to home, they have lots of my favorite things, and thus far the lighting and all the choices have yet to send me into full blown panic attack.
Hey, I’d prefer to shop at New Seasons or WF all the time but I can’t. The peoples I live with, they eat and eat and eat again… So, despite the fact I can’t have grain fed cattle that always slept in at least 800 thread count Egyptian cotton in a room with a view, there are still organic choices to be had, and most of all, the people that work here are great, helpful, and they seem to genuinely care when they ask how you are. I wish they carried my favorite pickles, I wish they didn’t have waxy lemons, but a girl has to choose wisely when she’s got locusts at home biting at her ankles. Thanks for always being open QFC, and I’m grateful that you save me from going to the FM place because that place is nuts.

Maybe QFC is trying to expand they’re organic selection? Maybe???
It would be great if they are, but it seems like there’s only so many of those products they’re planning on stocking. The thing about QFC is… why would I shop here when I can shop at New Seasons across the street? Well, I’ll tell you. I had some coupons for some free ‘Chobani Flip’ yogurt. New seasons doesn’t carry these things, and I honestly wouldn’t expect them to. But… QFC does! So… in that since… it was great to be able to walk over there and obtain my free, mass-​marketed, 19 grams of sugar, conventional ingredient yogurt.
The cashiers were friendly, although a bit slow about figuring out how to ring up my coupons.
Not much else to say. It’s clean. The employees are fine. They sell food… but it’s still a QFC.

The staff are always super sweet and helpful. I love that it’s 24 hours, I’ve been a few times in the middle of the night and have always been so thankful!

This neighborhood store has a lot of history. Ramona Quimby got her boots stuck in the mud during it’s construction in Beverly Cleary’s beloved 1950’s children’s novel Ramona the Pest. There has been a store on this lot since the 1910s, despite the sign outside saying it’s been a neighborhood store since 1940.
The problem is this store is showing it’s age, and it’s even more apparent now that a shiny new New Season’s Market has opened up a block away. I’m the first to admit I LOVE New Seasons. But, I also love history which is why I stopped by to get lunch from QFC the deli last week.
I wanted one piece of chicken and a small container of kale salad from the deli, a quick and easy order. There were three people working behind the counter and no other customers. One woman said it would «be a while» because they had a big order of salads. I waited about 5 – 8 minutes and she said again that it would be a while. Well, I was hungry, it was lunch time, and I didn’t have time to go elsewhere. You don’t ignore a customer standing before you because you have to make some salads. Finally, she called someone over from the coffee bar and she spent about a minute getting my two items. There is NO EXCUSE for 1) the lady at the coffee bar not to have been called over immediately if the THREE people working in the deli couldn’t manage to help me or 2) Someone actually assigned to the deli helping me in the first place. Don’t accept an order that’s so huge you can’t fill it without ignoring other customers. They should have told whoever ordered it that they had 3 people working, 1 would need to be dedicated to helping walk up customers which means they need X amount of time to fill the order. But seriously, the minute (literally, minute) it took to fill my request would not have made any difference in the salad making process, especially with two other people also working on the order as well.
One other issue I consistently run into (and have for at least a year) is the bike parking. There is a rack on the right hand side of the store that holds about 4 bikes. The problem is it is frequently blocked. Once it was blocked by a pallet of fertilizer. Another time by several employees out on a smoke break. They seemed annoyed when I needed them to move so I could park my bike. Another time it was blocked by giant bags of empty pop cans. It’s always something. If that space is needed for other things, then perhaps they should move the bike rack to another location.
The service at New Seasons is top notch and if this QFC wants to stay in business, they’ll have to step up their game an give top notch service in order to compete. The prices at New Seasons are comparable and in many cases better, so QFC needs to find a way to compete so they can survive. There’s room for both stores (plus the Fred Meyer 3 blocks away) but the lousy service I received could be the death knell for this store if other customers are treated the same way I was.

I love that QFC has Boars Head meats and cheeses! It’s my absolute favorite. The woman working at the deli meat counter was SO friendly. She gave us samples of each meat we ordered and checked with us on the thickness of the slices. She was so helpful and made us feel so welcomed! I love that.
The also have a club card that you can sign up for for free to receive special sale prices on certain items. Definitely worth it to sign up for that.

I don’t shop @ QFC very happy often. I used to shop at this store location ocadsionally, but it’s been t few years since last time I was here.
Today, I need to pick up a few last minute items for a company picnic. I was in/​out in less than 10 mins. YAY!
The cashier was very friendly, fast and efficient.
Trying to exit the parking lot onto NE 33^rd can be quite challenging, but that’s the only thing I dislike about this location.

QFC is an offshoot of Fred Meyer and Kroger food stores. My guess would be that the chain is trying to bring one back to the days before the supermarket and megasupermarkets invaded our landscape.
It is a nice store with people who are friendly and ready to lend assistance. The prices are on par but sometimes a bit higher that the other stores, which doesn’t make much sense being they are the same company. Then again, does much make sense anymore? I am still able to find what I need whether it be tuna skewers or coconut flakes or a pretty decent bottle of wine.
The produce section is small but it has all the essentials and organic items as well. The beer and wine options are enough, even for picky folks and you can get a good cut of beef or pork in the back of the store. No problems and you can be in and out in a whole lot less time than at Fred Meyer.
Like all stores, there are good and bad. This is close by and I have had no issues here and that works for me.

The QFC on 33^rd is a very excellent place to go to. I found it by accident while searching for a Fred Meyer. It is cheaper than Fred Meyer and the staff went out of their way to help me. There was one woman who showed me where the pie crusts were and procured a food cart for me. Then there was the deli where the person behind the counter helped me pick out a quick lunch (cheap and filling!). Even the store manager helped me out by giving me a store card. I will gladly come again if I am ever in the area.

For a QFC this is a decent place to go. The employees are friendly and it is always nice to see familiar faces. Manager, if you are reading this, pls encourage your check-​out people to clean the sensors /​check-​out area regularly. It is so so gross having my food swiped on that filthy thing. The clean-​up /​wipe-​down should be part of the training.

We went for some basic groceries. I had to use the restroom. It was the most wretched disgusting rancid bathroom I’ve seen since visiting a 3^rd world country. I quickly turned the other way. We got the heck out of there never to return again. The person who cleaned it deserves a raise!

Good: because it’s close (NE Broadway and 33^rd), open 24 hours, and who hasn’t had a middle-​of-​the-​night craving for ice cream?
Bad: I don’t love the way the store is organized, it doesn’t feel logical to me. The frozen area is somewhat segregated, it’s not easy to tell what part of the store your stuff will be located.
Bad: I also don’t love that every time I go to the produce area, it’s swarming with flies, and fruit flies (year-​round). Sure, it happens, but that to me says things aren’t cleaned up, or worse are over-​ripe/​rotten. This may not be the case, but that is what an abundance of flies tells this shopper.
Neutral: There is a little bit of natural foods available, definitely not like the larger organic stores such as Whole Food/​New Seasons; however, when in a bind for time (and if the other guys are closed) this is a decent option.
Neutral: Parking can be a little challenging. Not the actual finding of one’s parking space, but getting IN to the parking lot can be challenging at rush hour. The traffic-​light looking thing at the intersection is actually a cross-​walk. Don’t expect it to change for you unless there’s some pedestrians around.

I have to update my review on this since they’ve drastically changed recently.
I go in this store (or used to) about 3 – 4 times a week. The last 5 times they have gone from having a full and complete hot-​deli case, to virtually nothing. They used to have fresh fried chicken and lots of other offerings at almost all times.
No more. Not even at peak lunch and dinner times.
I asked them about it and was told it was part of some new business model they are trying.
Well, in that case, I’ll be changing my shopping pattern to switching those 3 – 4 times I visited a week to a different store.
The freshness and variety of the hot case was a large part of what kept me coming in here.
I think I’ve now probably gone in here for the last time.
Too bad.

WOW! That’s all I have to say! I was looking at prices of florists for my wedding and getting really nervous and then I had this though… what about the grocery stores? They have a floral department. Well, that thought saved me about about $ 1000.
I used the QFC on 33^rd AVE in NE Portland and worked with Kat in the floral department. We did everything by phone and I told her I trusted her judgement. She did such and amazing job! I order 2 large bouquets for the front of the church, 2 smaller ones for the head table, one bridal bouquet, 2 bridesmaids bouquets, 6 boutonnieres, 3 corsages and the total was $ 288! There were so pretty and beautiful! Everyone was saying how nice they were and how much I must have spent on them. I can say for sure that it was the most I got out of any $ 288 I spent on the whole wedding!

I never thought I would give QFC four stars, ever. I’ve always been a bit frustrated by the chain’s apparent strategy to mark up the same Kroger-​provided groceries that Fred Meyer sells at a premium. The excuse that a spokeswoman reported to a Seattle newspaper years ago was «well, they can make up margin on other items, we don’t have that luxury.» Take that with a grain of salt I guess.
QFC is the dominant grocery chain along the Puget Sound and only started moving into Portland before Fred Meyer saw it as an apparent threat and bought it in 1997 (then Fred Meyer Inc. was promptly purchased by Kroger). There are around five locations, all open ²⁴⁄₇. This store is small and has no pharmacy as it is a former Kienow’s Market. (try this link

I went in this week after glancing a little harder than normal at the mailed QFC flyer. I was surprised to see some reasonably priced advertised specials (sadly, all with QFC «Advantage» Card). I popped in and remembered that while I still wish QFC carried more store-​brand items and still is priced a bit higher than others in the market, they do have well-​lit, logically organized, clean stores. All the full-​service departments have their hours clearly posted — I’ve not seen that in a store for YEARS — so you actually know when the bakery/​espresso bar is open, the deli, or the meat and seafood counter. The bakery also carries a lot of Schwartz Bros. items, which is a great Seattle-​based bakery. They used to be providing pastries and other items to Starbucks, wouldn’t surprise me to learn they still do. QFC also carries lots of other northwest products, from Silver Hills Bread (British Columbia) to Rub with Love spice and sauce mixes (Tom Douglas, prominent Seattle restauranteur).
If you live in the neighborhood, it’s nice to have an alternative to the nearby Fred Meyer store both in terms of get-​in, get out possibility as well as bottle return. I’ve never seen a store with such a clearly marked location and lack of customers.

I’d never been to a QFC store before today. I was in the neighborhood and needed a couple basics that I couldn’t find at Trader Joe’s. The store was smaller than I expected, but clean with a good selection. Parking is ample, but getting out of the lot onto 33^rd is a bit tricky due to the steady stream of traffic. I was in and out pretty quickly since I only needed 3 or 4 items, but I was able to walk right up to the check-​out line with no waiting. Not bad for a Saturday afternoon.

Well, more accurately, the QFC on 33^rd, which is not the QFC three blocks from my house, makes for a pretty unexpected twist for me. It’s not one that would really impress Ron Serling very much, but I’m so attached to my local QFC branch that I’m surprised I haven’t asked them to cater my funeral reception yet. But when you’re out and about, you have to go with what’s available in the neighborhood.
Quick digression: How amazing would it be to have a fridge that miraculously generates cold, delicious beer without buying and setting any in there yourself? You’d have the most sough-​after kitchen in the state. Of course, the joke would be on you and every beer aficionado who’s tapped into your source when it’s discovered that your self-​generating beer turns its drinkers into zombies.
I somewhat expected the employees at this store to be carbon copies of the familiar faces at my neighborhood QFC, but with small changes, like beards where there was no hair before, in insidious pointy shapes. Instead, there were just a handful of people working. The 33^rd location is smaller and close to deserted on a random weekday night around 9:00, so it’s a lot quieter, but also has that unevenly lit atmosphere that makes a place look gloomy. No beards, at least not that I noticed.
Otherwise, it’s the same song and dance, minus the Starbucks kiosk. Produce, snacks, beverages, stuff, junk, and things, all for slightly more than Fred Meyers because you have access to it 24 hours a day. Be advised that the beer section is in the northwest corner of this QFC. And if you tell people that you swore it was two aisles over from the vegetables, they will look at you quizzically and inform you that the beer has never existed there. Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo.. .

The only supermarket choices I have within a reasonable distance are New Seasons and QFC. I could almost blow a whole paycheck shopping at New Seasons, so stocking up on the staples there is beyond my current budgetary constraints.
The prices at QFC aren’t necessarily low, but they have plenty of «Advantage» card savings on things we regularly buy. My tab for today’s shopping trip went from $ 54 to $ 45 as soon as the checker swiped my card. They had a deal on soda last week: four twelve packs for the price of two. That’s some decent savings.
The beer selection is respectable. They have a pretty nice collection of craft brew bombers. Produce and meat sections are a-​okay. All in all, a nice supermarket.

One **VERY** important piece of advice about QFC:
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING HERE…
If you don’t have a membership card. Seriously, you will get had. It seems at any given time 25−50% of the things I want here are «on special», but you only get these if you have a lame-​o card. Yeah, I hate ‘em too… but it’s required for here. A fool and his money are soon parted, don’t take chances son.
That said, I like this place quite alright. The produce selection is decent, as is the beer. Prices, when on sale, are competitive. The non-​sale prices… not so much. My eating habits often fluctuate with what’s on sale so… it’s not a huge deal for me.
The best feature is that it’s open ALL THE TIME, FOREVER. I have a bizarro work schedule, and it’s nice to be able to go grocery shopping at 2am and not have to weave my big barge of a shopping cart through narrow estuaries created by rampant sticky-​fingered kids begging mom to get the quad-​pumped chocolate chunk Pop Tarts and geriatrics debating if they want low-​sodium or regular Campbell’s for dinner.
Oh and one more thing, you’ll probably have to bag your own crap if you come in here when I do.
