Funny story I just read, because i have just received an air conditioner that had the same problem, but I also had 2 broken wheels, a broken vent, and it didn’t cool the room at all. Started the return process, but I had to go through hurdles. They asked to take pictures of the box, which I did. Then the next day they said it wasn’t clear enough, even though an 8MP camera took the pictures clearly. So, I did. They wanted to put the blame on Fed Ex, which they did of course, to not lose the money, since the AC was a Chinese piece of crap that they probably can’t get refunded from the manufacturer for. So, they made the appointment for Fed Ex to pick it up and said I would get refunded as soon as they have confirmation that it was picked up for return delivery. It was picked up and I still have not been refunded. If they do not refund by tomorrow, it will become a dispute. I did not know this was such a cheaply made model for roughly $ 350. My mistake. Bought another from BJ’s for $ 500 and didn’t make that mistake twice. Never again will I buy from this company! NEVER. STAYAWAYFROMTHESEPEOPLE. HORRIBLE!

I received a new but defect(not cooling) expensive portable air conditioner from Quality Matters to deal with the 100+ degree temps here. When I called the manufacturer(American Comfort) for technical support they put me through to a voice mail and that voice mail never called back. Then I called Quality Matters, their socalled Technical support. Well, there is no such thing as technical support at Quality Matters. The only thing they do is call the TS of the manufacturer for you and they did not get any response there right away either. They promised to call back but did not. Then I called TS at the manufacturer and was put on hold indefinitely by an automated system with music. Next I call TS at Quality Matters and they can only tell me that there is an ‘open ticket’ and that they have an email of the manufacturer asking them if the ticket is still open!!! Sounds like a circular situation to me, where no one does anything. QM did not want to commit to having the faulty AC picked up. So I have a useless device here and may only hope that it gets resolved in the coming days. These two companies are fraudulent, because they really have no technical support at the phone they gave although they advertise that they do. They just give people the run around. Also note that the QM company has a lot of similar complaints online. This is no accident. They operate like a ‘fly by night’. If you encounter the same situation, make sure to immediately do a card chargeback, before these guys go bust. I will. And better do it quick because their ‘refund policy is nasty’. They can even charge you serious money although an item they send is defective and is returned! See their policy: «Defective Item Returns: — For a defective return/exchange within 30 days of purchase the customer must contact the manufacturer to determine that the merchandise is, in fact, defective. Once the manufacturer has confirmed the merchandise is defective and needs to be exchange please contact us to obtain a call tag for pick up and a replacement will be shipped. For defective items outside of the 30 day time frame please contact the manufacturer for warranty service. For Amcor &SPT defective returns if a replacement is not taken return shipping costs will not be refunded & a restocking fee will be incurred. Returns that are inspected or tested and found to be in good working order will not have the shipping charges and restocking fees waived.
