Qube is whack. Almost didn’t let me in because I was wearing a chain? The bouncer finally let me in if I tuck in my chain under my shirt. wtf? Fail. We came here on a Friday night and I guess it was Latin Night. It was mostly all guys and NO pretty girls. Fail. They charge us $ 10 each for cover for this whack experience. The music was okay. It was strange when the cops keep coming in and out. Must be a lot of fights here. The floors was sticky and the drinks was water down. We only stay for one drink and got the f out of here since it was a dude and cop fest. Don’t waste your money, go to Club 205 instead.

Went there on a Friday night — it was Latin night, so the music was fairly decent. Unfortunately there were a lot of fights with security rushing through the crowd tossing out the offenders. The police were also inside the club several times. Didn’t feel all that safe at this club, after all the security guy at the door is wearing a bullet proof vest — but on the plus side his vest matched his shoes so at least fashion didn’t take a hit. Oh yes, a $ 10 cover charge is usually a sign that club goers don’t stay that long, especially after paying $ 7 for a Corona!

Came here awhile back after a couple months hiatus from the dance club scene, and it’s still a lame place with rude owners. The décor is subpar quality, the space and flow is terrible, and the crowd is just pathetic. The Asian owners just bring in their young underage girls and their network to follow, which just makes it even more of portland’s worst places to go downtown. And let’s not forget, sushi is terrible here. The tuna I had was probably a few days expired and super fishy. I’m never coming back or recommending this place to anyone. Stay away from qube.

The last time I was at Qube was like a year ago. Me and some girlfriends took a girls trip out to PDX and decided to head to Qube, just because I remember going there … $ 10.00 at the door, right when we walked in, HECKSNO! I am NOT going back to this place, even if they paid me. We had our drinks then left and went to Aura.

This is the first club I’ve been to, and I wasn’t too impressed. The music was okay and the drinks tasted really good but were quite expensive. There was a $ 10 cover charge to get in, which was definitely not worth paying. Not a horrible night, but I wouldn’t go back.

Came here randomly after the Departure Lounge and it was definitely very crowded… because it was LATINONIGHT!!! Haha, it was a very interesting night actually. It was a very mixed crowd but of course, mostly Latinos and the music was pretty good but the floor was very dirty and slippery. Drunk people spilling left and right and body odor filling up the air was not very pleasant… but it was still very interesting to observe! The drinks were pretty strong, I ordered my usual vodka cranberry and it was in a large plastic cup and heavily liquored; my kind of well drink. The club itself is pretty huge but I didn’t bother to venture towards the stage and back because I didn’t want to get lost… but there’s a $ 10 cover charge after a certain time on Friday and I would have been upset if I had to pay for that… luckily one of our friends is a regular and hooked it up for us.

I’ve been here once and had the worst time. It was GHETTO, like a street scene from the bad parts of Asia(I can say this, I’m Korean). Though I’m only 24, the kids in there looked like they were barely 19, I felt old. Horrible drinks. I literally felt like my class dropped to an all time low just by being there. As I yanked myself and 7 girls out of the door, 4 police cars were pulling up and unloading at 11PM. Don’t go here. It’s AWFUL.

Came back the following week to give this place another chance. Showed up around 11 and the place was hustling and bustling. Got in for free again(yay!) So what redeemed this place from the previous week? 1. Better DJ(he even took song requests from my friends who were drunk to dance) — my opinion the DJ had better music transitions than the previous week. 2. Better service at the bar. Had a shot of patron. They were going to just give it straight up and my friend asked if we could have it chilled instead before the tequila was poured into the shot glasses. The bartender was so cool enough to do that for her(this was the bartender who spilled his drink while making it the previous week). 3. Water — when requested, they were prompt to give a glass or two. 4. Accommodating — my friend requested to hold a party and the owner was more than welcome to honor her guest list(even though it was last minute) Good place, good vibes. Since NV is closed and sometimes you can get tired of going to Aura every week, Qube is a good place to go for the nightlife in downtown Portland.

2.5 stars I’m a bit torn as to how to review this place. Should I review it relative to what is available in Portland or should I review it based on where I’ve been? S’pose I can do both. Portlanders, this place is pretty cool for the bunch that we have. Its a single floor venue, but the floor is wide open. Decent music and decent crowd of people. I personally did not order anything whilst there, but judging from what my friends say… its a no go. The coolest thing I think are all the windows and the open airy feeling of the place. All the good things about this place work against it as well. As cool as the boxed shaped seats are(Qubes, hehehe), it eats up into the dance floor. As open as the dance floor is, its crowds up rather quickly. There is no escape from the dance floor because the seats would inevitably be occupied by other clubbers. The music was decent and could use some help. The vibe I get is like a wannabe trendy place that tries just a little too hard. It’s close, but not quite there. This place is decent for a Portland venue. It does not compare to any other big city clubs. I’ll definitely give this place another shot, especially during the day. But as a nightclub/lounge, I have a few other places I’d rather hang out.

There wasn’t too much special at the Qube. It was pretty crowded when my party got there(10:30PM on a Friday night, which is good for the people who like to get on the dance floor. The dance floor was small but a good size for small groups. They have booth seating and VIP seating on the sides. What really stood out is the lighting. There are neon light columns throughout the lounge. Music was the typical downtown hip hop scene: latest hits and club bangers.

Best to describe my experience here is in lists of pros and cons: Pros: 1) Excellent atmosphere– spacious floor, high ceiling– so no claustrophobia, very fun/funky lighting 2) Lined with comfy booths– unbelievably comfy and I liked the variation in styles. Quite classy. :) 3) Good crowd– Beautiful people galore, older 20’s crowd– no teeny boppers w/fake ID’s or early 20-somethings, no unwarranted advances or «saying hello with my pelvis to your butt» attempts while dancing 4) Fun dancing– music was more of a con than a pro. I danced because I love to dance– if I was depending on the music I may not have left my booth. However, the dancing is great as far as space to move and(as stated previously) not being assaulted. 5) GOOD sushi! And well-priced! My friends were there for Happy Hour so their sushi was $ 2 and $ 3. I arrived after and my plate of shrimp tempura roll(YUM!) was still only $ 6. Two hearty thumbs up! :) Cons: 1) EXPENSIVE drinks. :(Oh my! We were r*ped by that! The 5 of us averaged 3 drinks each and our bill was $ 200. :(We did get sushi– but the sushi was very inexpensive. So, they obviously get you on the drinks. :( 2) Music– ok, not excellent. I think any one of us in that room had a better mix on our iPods, which was a bummer. But like I said, the dancing was fun– music, eh. 3) The Line to get in– while I didn’t experience this(we got there for Happy Hour and stayed for dancing) when I was leaving it was LOOOOOONG. A guy we spoke to had been waiting for over an hour!?! No way! If you can’t get in early or get VIP– bundle up! You’ll be waiting. All in all, I liked Qube. So far, it’s the better of Portland night clubs I’ve been to and I really hope the crowd stays the same.
