Friendly, gentle and loving with my dogs. You can definitely count on LeRae in a pinch. In addition to LeRae providing excellent care for dogs, she is doing an amazing job of being the spokesperson (and organizer) of the group responsible for Friends of the Fields (dog park NOW slated to be added to the Pearl’s newest park. If it weren’t for LeRae those of us who have dogs in the neighborhood would be sorely «out of luck» for an off leash dog park. Thank you LeRae for your countless volunteer hours.

Just to be clear: my complaint is regarding LeRae’s lack of ethics, *not* her lack of expertise in dealing with special-​needs/​medically-​challenged pets. Although my dog does not require highly specialized care (just a calm person with common sense), I definitely agree that anyone whose pet needs the care of a vet tech should seek one out.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with deciding a client has too high a level of need. There is, however, something egregiously wrong with knowing exactly what needs the animal has, then canceling an agreement made a month prior at the very last minute, for higher profits.
LeRae explicitly stated that to me herself– that she was canceling because she could make more money doing individual walks — before changing her story to the special-​needs line.
The most important things to know about Recess in the Pearl, and LeRae, are:
1. LeRae’s website *still* states a rate for 24-​hour overnights, yet she double-​books walks for this time.
2. LeRae sent me a «disclaimer» after canceling which is *still* absent from her website, basically stating that she may cancel at any time, for any reason, without notice. Although this is not actually effective as a disclaimer after the fact, she believes it is, so don’t book LeRae if you can’t get out of your plans.
3. LeRae has stated that she believes that this decision to screw one client in order to make more money with others was the correct decision to make.
I never received anything even slightly resembling an apology for this fiasco. LeRae doesn’t believe that what she did was wrong or unethical in the slightest.
Yes, it may have been a terrible, but momentary, lapse of judgment. It may also be typical. Going to the source IS the only way to find out, true. But do you really want to take the risk?
