This place sucks balls. You won’t like it. Stay away. This is not the dive bar you are looking for.

I’m not sure how you can dislike this bar unless you’re looking for a pretentious, hipster fu*k you bar. They have happy hour from open till seven and icebergs. Service is always friendly and the crowd is usually pretty laid back.

The«Beervana» is so overwhelming and… functioning, that I suspect it’s not vintage. Still pleasing though.

I wish this place had been here when I used to frequent this neighborhood. The drinks are very reasonable. I think the people that were with me were enjoying PBRs for really cheap. As I am not a beer fan I was drinking cider. They had two different options to choose from: Strongbow Gold Apple and Crispin. I went with the Crispin because I do not enjoy the new direction Strongbow has taken with their cider.(What the hell happened to the original dry tallboy cans?) Anyways, the cider was only $ 3.50 so I was happy. There were four pinball machines and a fantastic jukebox. This place is really roomy so it serves as an excellent place to bring a large group of people.

How did I not know about this place until now? Great little neighborhood dive bar. Great beers on tap, with multiple IPAs. Lower than average beer prices, but the service is good, even when it’s crazy busy. The crowd is somewhere in the range of a rough, dive-bar, hipster, but in a good way. The jukebox has played great music every time I’ve been in there, and it’s just an all around decent place to grab a few drinks.

No reviews for this place in a while — no matter, Bullwinkle will cover it. Good sized dive bar. Booths and tables as well as bar seats. Pinball machines. Funky divey atmosphere. Good music when I was in. They have groovy nights like psychedelic bingo. Bathroom is covered with graffiti. Bartenders were nice and drinks were big. Don’t order food. Extra points for the giants sticker and the rip on the Dodgers. There is one TV so you can watch the game but this is not a sports bar. What this is is a dive bar thoroughly populated with hipsters. That said, it’s technically not a hipster bar and the drinks are s.t.i.f.f. so it makes the list.

There are some things I like about this bar, but the crowd is what is making this star system. Drinks are average priced, I’m not much a PBR guy so despite the $ 1 price I’m not into it, though I love some shitty lagers, so it’s not beer snobbery talking. Some good pinball. Non gendered bathrooms. The average clientele are the too cool crowd and I have had some rough experiences trying to be in there in my normal people clothes or whatever the issue is. I try it every now and again and the last time some random guy wanted to fight my friend because their backpack grazed them in a crowded bar, and that’s not the first oddly entitled agro behavior I’ve experienced there. If you want to hang with the«coolest people in town» and don’t mind pretentious, entitled behavior I’m sure you won’t be as offended as I have been.

Red Flag is pretty great. 1. Simpsons Pinball 2. T. Rex on their juke box 3. Not too busy 4. Good tap list 5. Whiskey Diet I’ve always had friendly service, even when I complained to the bartender/owner that there were no signs with the bar’s name and he politely pointed out that their name is on several windows and a GIANT mural on the side of the building. It gets a little loud, but I don’t mind. They watch good movies on the bar TV, as well. There are so many things I like about this place. Enjoy.

Good to see a local bar can evolve with the neighborhood. When Red Flag opened around five years ago, it was like the«He-Man Woman Haters Club» right out of the Little Rascals series of the 1930’s; you almost had to beg women to go there. It was small, claustrophobic little hallway with a bar in it. Now, its expanded and some of the coolest people in town are there on any given night of the week. One of the best bartenders in Portland works at Red Flag, too. Give ‘em another shot! They just hired a slew of new bartenders and they are good people. Don’t ask anyone to make food there, however. They don’t want to do it and will discourage you from ordering. Red Flag views itself as the place you go to after having had a late-lunch or dinner. Go easy on the ‘tenders, they just want to mix drink right now. Across the way, Spints makes a life-changing chicken pot-pie!

a bit dark, a bit divey, a bit AWESOME. nice sized pours, $ 1 pbr’s until 7pm on the daily. comfortable seating inside, and the patio is along 28th ave so its a good«people watching» set of seats. bartenders are always awesome to me and my crew! get 4 friends, get there around 5pm, cash in $ 5 in quarters, hit $ 1 pbr’s and get down any of the 4 pinball machines. total blast and awesome way to spend a rainy or cold day. SECRET: in the top south east corner of the bar, above the pin ball machines, might be the sweetest snoop dog and lando calrissian cut outs!!! total hidden gem hahaha.

Would you call this a dive bar? Is that what other people have called it?(I haven’t read the reviews). Maybe? But it’s pretty clean, and not full of sketchy folk. Anyways, this is just a neighborhood bar, with relatively cheap drinks, and good happy hour, some nice sidewalk seating for the summer time. The bartenders I’ve come across have been pleasant, the music fine. Basically, it’s just a bar. But it’s a good one.

That’s it! I’ve been to Red Flag about a dozen times over the years, mostly out of pure convenience as it’s central and a convenient meeting spot. Great place to go if you want to sit in the most uncomfortable booths ever and be shunned by the WORSTBARTENDERONTHEFACEOFTHEEARTH. She clearly hates her job and hates almost every single person that walks into the bar and has no problem making it known by rolling her eyes at every simple order and answering all questions with snotty disgust. It takes a lot for me to leave a 1 star review but after last night(Friday) I was left with no choice. Want to leave another star for the great jukebox but it’s just not worth it. Sorry Red Flag, I won’t be back.

Heyooo hipster peoples. Stiff drinks, okay prices. Outdoor seating, YES! Good location for crawling to a couple bars throughout the evening. Not my favorite place in Portland, but I don’t see why I wouldn’t hang there from time-to-time.

When a bar has a sign that says, «If you were born after this day in 1991 or are a Kardashian we will not serve you», it must be a good bar. Right? Right. Let me tell you a little bit more about this place. Upon walking inside for the first time, rumpus room immediately came to mind. This bar looks like a rumpus room. That is a good thing. Rumpus room conjures up memories(I don’t have many of them) of the 70’s. This bar is littered with old beer signs and 70’s looking tables and chairs. Nothing pretty about this place, but it feels homey. It feels good. On top of that the drink prices seem to be out of the 70’s. I ordered a mixed drink and beer for myself and a friend and the total price was $ 7.75. That seems cheap to me. Or it seemed cheap at the time because of the cute bartender lady. I like this place. They make a mean Tom Collins. Thought that being at a bar that looked like a rumpus room called for me to order a drink someone in the 70’s(or 50’s) might order. I was correct in that assumption.

1. Best jukebox in town(except that Jesus and Mary Chain is broken). The highly coveted Medieval Madness pinball game(featuring tina feys voice as a damsel). Great prices. Adequate bartenders and a nice beer selection. OH! And they have margaritas from Slurpee machines! Currently my favorite bar in town.

My favorite bar in town by far! I have lived in Portland for over a year now and have been coming here the same amount of time. I just love the atmosphere here. First off they have 4 pinball machines, 3 of which are some of my favorite games around. This alone would be enough to keep me coming back. They also have a few TV’s. Most the time there is a great movie playing(last week The Warriors was on) but they also play sports. I love bars that you can go to and watch sports but aren’t sports bars. This place fits that bill perfectly. The only downfall is that most the time they play the games without sound. Normally this would bother me a lot, but they have such a good jukebox that it is fine. The bartenders have always been extremely friendly and don’t mind that I come in only to play pinball and watch Blazer games. I love going here on weekend too cause they never seem to be that crowded. It is a nice, mellow bar that really suits my needs.

There is no sign to this place. How am I supposed to know where I’m going if there’s no sign?! Maybe they’re just that cool. Someone already pointed this out, but there’s no ATM. Sometimes you just want to use the ATM, you know? Drink prices were reasonable. I was drinking Fat Tire all night. We did stay there for a long time, but I couldn’t have spent too much. My friend got a sandwich that she didn’t like too much. Coulda been worse.

Music’s a bit loud. Asking if they had an ATM(no) and finding out where one was(nearby Plaid) took a full minute. There’s a margarita machine. I was tempted to order one just for the novelty factor. The bartender was cool, the crowd not too hipsterish(at the time, it was slow when I went in). Big ups(old slang, F yeah) to Brandi P for strongly suggesting I check this place out. I wasn’t hungry but I looked at the menu, which was half assed enough both in content and execution to cost a star.

One thing I really like about this place is that they seem to not give a flying f*ck(pardon my French) about what people think about it, and do not need to, because it’s full of regulars who are going to come no matter what, and they probably get some overflow from people walking up to Spints and turning away once they see the price tag for some beer and German food. Is what it is, as they say. Funny food menu offering things like hot dogs with kraut and cheddar has several items crossed out, some with hand-written notes. «Entrees» include a super cheap($ 3) beans and rice bowl and things called«WTF» and«Creamy Weiner». Most food is $ 5 or less. Sign at the bar reads, «If you were not born by today’s date in 1989 or are Glenn Beck, we will not serve you». Margarita slushie machine. Several pinball machines. Great tunes coming from the bar’s own ipod mix. Crazy/awesome art on the walls. I could, and have, post(ed) up here for hours(pinball, can’t help myself), it’s totally comfortable. I have one minor gripe about my drink being swept off the table before I was done with it, but I suppose that’s nothing to hold a major grudge about. Prices are average, bartenders are nice, I’m a fan.
