«meh. i’ve experienced better.» the customer service here is not kind. the saleswoman behind the counter made a couple comments that hurt my feelings and i’m still thinking about them 30 hours or so later. boutiques like these are another reason to dislike alberta street.

Interesting wares – mostly for the home. It’s a small shop so everything in it is small (think coasters and tea cups, not rugs and tables). The one down side is the staff. Nine times out of ten times I’ve been in there, the people (different people) working are kind of sour and in a bad mood. It has definitely put me off and I don’t go in there so much anymore.

I’m genuinely curious how this place stays open… I mean, I bombastically predicted they’d last a few months, and after being drug in multiple times by my wife (who loves design /​design inspiration), my prediction is wrong, but my logic is sound.
With the exception of a handful of local wares, this is mostly an in-​person Etsy shop with a hefty markup. I guess good for them for up-​charging people with more money than sense or who lack the Internet?
It’s like the «We Sell Your Stuff on Ebay» store from the 40-​year-​old Virgin. But hipper.

Red Sail is my favorite non-​clothing boutique on Alberta St … it screams all-​things-​Portland! I love how they carry so many local artisans such as: Betsy & Iya (jewelry); Upper Metal Class (jewelry); Neil & Mary (bags & tea towels); and Revolution Design House’s Boxcars (box planter sets).
They have something for everyone: home décor, accessories, stationary, jewelry and other knick-​knacks. This store is definitely a great place for gift givers and out-​of-​towners. Things here cost a pretty penny … but then again, things here are just so pretty ^_​_​_​^
P. S. They’re also part of Supportland (
) so I was able to pick up a Supportland card here, too. Definitely coming back!

A great little boutique that is perfect for gift shopping. They have a great selection of jewelry, houseware, and random decors and handcrafted objects. If you’re looking for something made locally this is a great place to check out.

Red Sail is basically a tiny modern version of Anthropologie home in terms of diversity of product and pricing. There is a good selection of locally made housewares and jewelry as well as a great assortment of greeting cards. Perfect place for gifts and some home inspiration!

TERRIBLE customer service. I went to the register with three vases that I wanted to purchase, one of them had three dried stems in it– very small, like wheat stems and a leaf. I asked if I could keep the three stems with the item since they looked so nice. The woman at the register said no, I couldn’t keep the three dried stems with the vase because it was «a hassle for her to go to Michael’s and buy new ones.» Seriously. For the price I paid for the vases, I felt I deserved a lot better customer service. Now I’m stuck driving to a craft store so I can get an entire BUNDLE of dried stems when I only need three. Will NOT be going here again.

I ended up getting a cool little cube thing here because this store is FULL of really cute things. Things that I wish I could put in my house but it would look out of place once it was outside of Red Sail.
My house is not that cool.
I do think everything here is really really pricey. I found some really cool art that depicted areas of Portland, San Francisco, Amsterdam etc. and I would have gotten them all except they were printed things on cardboard for $ 28 a piece. Sheeeeeesh! This wasn’t even like the size of a normal piece of paper, it was almost like a post card!
Aside from that, the cashier was friendly and they really do have a lot of cute one-​time-​wear jewelry here.

Sorry to be crude, but I love this type of shit. Its a cute boutique/​home goods store (no clothes), but I love the jewelry. I picked up a awesome Betsy and Iya necklace (I need to hit up their store as well) and a very functional (but pricey) cool Japanese lunch tin.
Its a bit pricey, but I know the Chinook book has a coupon (trust me if I can save a buck or two I will). I also wish they would expand their house wares. I used to shop in stores like this all the time in Oakland and felt like the Oakland stores had a more expansive selection. Go check out Red Sail if you’re on Alberta and grab a mocha at Barista next door :)

Although I do sometimes find my eyebrows nestled firmly in my hairline in response to some of the prices, this is still one of my favorite places to look for gifts. The selection is high-​quality and unique.
They’re also one of the Supportland businesses, and at Christmas time they sell animal ornaments with a percentage going to the Oregon Humane Society.

My favourite boutique in the Alberta Arts District. Some super cute jewelry, personal accessories, and home goods, most by local (ish) designers. A great place to pick up a gift. I picked up a Fluffy & Co bottle opener that you mount on the wall here and it’s gotten a lot of compliments from guests in my house. The prices on some goods seemed a little higher than I had seen for the same items elsewhere — I’m only talking like $ 2 more — but still it can add up if you’re purchasing multiple goods.

I just discovered this awesome store and I love it! I bought some Christmas gifts here and was thrilled when I received some for myself. Great selection, very artsy and well crafted, original and stylish. The owner, Stacy, is extremely helpful and engaged with her customers but not hovering or annoying. Great customer service all the way around. I recommended this store to many friends as well and they all thanked me for turning them on to such a great find.

I visited Portland a few weeks ago, and was wandering around the Alberta district on a Sunday. I had just eaten breakfast, and most of the stores were still closed. Red Sail happened to be open as I strolled past, and I really just went in to pass the time until some of the other shops opened their doors. To my pleasant surprise, I did not need to fake my interest in their inventory. They had really cute cosmetic cases, but I was really captivated by their jewelry. I am not a big necklace or ring person (they had plenty of those), but I do love simple and elegant earrings (they are a bit on the pricey side though, $ 40 to $ 100+). I ended up buying a pair that I’m really happy with! I would recommend this store to others.

They got some cute stuff in here! Home furnishings, tableware, jewelry made by local artists, kids toys, and women’s accessories. They all seem to be one of a kind that it’s a little on the pricier side, but they did have a small sale section. Definitely a great place to find gifts! Chatted with a friendly staff who let me try on some jewelry items. Unfortunately, none of them worked out, but I did find myself walking out with a cute summer clutch made in Madagascar!

When I first walked in, I was doubtful that I’d stay long or like anything. However, I spent a lot of time checking out all the kitschy items they had. Dry erase coasters and placemats caught my attention, followed by notebook covers with a clever pen/​pencil holder. I slowly took note of the other adorable items on each shelf and found myself wanted to buy EVERYTHING in the store.
It’s not cheap though; tread carefully if you’re on a budget as you can easily spend $ 100+ on a few items.

Beautiful glassware and lovely smelling candles. They have a really cute line of bags that were affordable. This is a good place to hit to find a gift for someone. Some things are pricey but you can find things at whatever price point you’re looking for.

I loved shopping Red Sail online and when I found out an actual store was opening I was THRILLED. It exceeds my expectations. Unique gifts that you really want to keep for yourself instead of giving away. I have bought several items. I don’t know why the other person complained about the return policy? There is a framed sign on the counter that states what the policy is and when handed my receipt it’s always repeated that the policy is store credit or exchange. I bought a french press that had a malfunction and when I brought it back for an exchange it was BOOM DONE. Great customer service. It’s nice to be able to see in person all the things I love online. Go here. You’re welcome.

Clerk encouraged us to bring an item home to see if the color worked, putting us at ease by emphasizing their 30 day return policy. When we bought it back a few days later we were told we failed to read the sign with the terms of the return policy. We try to support local business but this kind of thing makes it difficult.
