Wow! This is a beautiful building. I attended a Live Wire Radio show here in December and was so impressed with the renovations this building has received. Great acoustics, comfortable seating and easy to find parking. And they have a great bar so you can get a beer at intermission. I’m a bit sad that Live Wire Radio won’t be in this venue any longer after 12/19, but I will definitely look for concerts to attend here in the future.

I’ve been her a couple of times to see the Portland Cello Project. Last time there was a group of disruptive individuals directly behind me. I won’t go into details but I told Matt at the intermission and Matt and Mia took care of the issue. They also have a great drink selection and a neat venue.

Definitely one of my top 5 Portland venues since I first checked it out last month for Joe Jackson. Since then I’ve been back twice for Humpfest & Richard Thompson. Fairly convenient SE location with a devoted lot in back! The place has room to roam and two bars to help with your eating and drinking needs. I tried the pizza — it was pretty darn good. Drinks are not too expensive(maybe $ 5?). At the 1st show, the balcony was open and it was an amazing view! Last time, it was closed perhas for the winter and too bad. Get there before the door opens as people line up on the second floor to get a place in the queue… I forgot that the second time but was still able to find a seat off to the side in the first few rows. It has an intimate feel if you’re close enough, but none of the seats are particularly bad. Of course aren’t particularly comfy either. Oh well. Half the price of the Schnitzer, much cozier and room to hang. I like this place. I’d like to see them do even more with it — ala mcmennimans only not…

Attended a film festival here with a friend in 2015. Perhaps the most important note is DON’T DRIVEHERE. There is extremely limited parking. You are much better off to take TriMet to a bus stop a block or so away. The building is a former high school converted into an arts venue with some bars and dining. The auditorium was used for the film screenings. The seats were traditional auditorium seats, but not too uncomfortable. There was a Back To The Future vibe to being in a restored high school building. It is a nifty location, very trendy. If I knew an event was being held there, I’d look forward to attending again.

Revolution Hall has become my favorite music venue. I really enjoy the vibe of their concert hall. I’ve seen a few shows there and have tickets for more shows this November and am excited to return. The flow outside of the hall is subject to the design constraints of the former school it was born from. Designed to move kids from one classroom /floor to the next its interior structure is big… a little too big. I enjoyed walking from one end of the building to the opposite corner on my first visit hunt to locate will call. And the classroom bar had that same feel — big and airy and ready for prefabbed desks. Flashbacks to high school aside, I enjoy this place.

Cool space with great sound and convenient bar. The seats are nice but the rows are slightly too close to one another making it awkward entering and existing with drinks. Looking forward to what other bands come through here as its walking distance to my house and the sound system makes me want to cry tears of joy.

This is now my favorite place to see a show. On the east side, plenty of parking, nice outdoor section, great sounding venue, polite staff, fairly speedy service at the bars, and the best thing — lots of bathrooms with plenty of stalls! Really wish the roof was open to the public, but I get it. Looking forward to attending more concerts here for years to come.

Awesome to see this building that has sat idle for so ling remodeled into a place that serves Portland. Sweet venue, nicely remodeled, AC, you can drink in the venue, the sound was fantastic at the show I went to(don’t sit under the balcony overhang, it will be way boomy). The complaints about the lack of sound treatment in the bar is spot on, they need some help with acoustics(message me owners of venue, I can help you, doesn’t have to be expensive). We had a great time at this venue and thought it was spot on, particularly compared to other similar sized places in town like Alberta Rose Theater or the Aladdin. Would be a please to see another show here.

The theater itself is intimate and charming, so no complaints there. My trouble was with the way the venue was run. I arrived 2 hours before showtime, 1 hour before doors, so that I could get a decent seat for a sold out show. I was the third person in line. Five minutes before doors, a new line of people who had just arrived started to form at another door to the theater. Management let them in and didn’t open the doors for our line. By the time we all figured it out and went inside, the first two rows were already taken. It would make me think twice about seeing another show at this venue.

This was a great spot to see The Preservation Hall Jazz Band last night, but the main drinks area was a bit of a CF, with too much seating on one side forcing the standing crowd to cluster directly in front of the bar, so we had to wedge our way in through a narrow approach and then try to figure out what decent liquors they had available. The two bartenders seemed kind of annoyed, and the noise was BAD – the owners really need to do something to muffle the sound bouncing off all the hard surfaces. Once in the hall itself, all was well. The sound was good, we had a clear view of the band, nobody hassled those of us who wandered to the front to get a closer look and dance. I’d go back here, but I’ll skip the bar until they change it up.

Overall this is a pretty cool and unique music venue in Portland. The acoustic quality is decent and you get good views no matter where you sit. My biggest complaint is that some of the seats are wooden and part of the original layout perhaps? These seats are tough on your back and behind after awhile, making it difficult to settle in and enjoy the show.

We just saw The Weepies here in concert and it was a marvelous experience. We sat on the lower level and had a great view of the stage, even towards the back. I’m short and could easily see over the person in front of me. We did not venture up to the upper level so could not speak to the view from there. We had tickets purchased in advance and got right in the building and checked in. No lines, no problems and it was after the 7pm admission time. We also found parking rather quickly, although we could see how that could be a potential headache. We found the concert space easily and there was alcohol(and other beverages) easily accessible in several locations in the building. We didn’t spend much time exploring before or after the show, we just grabbed a quick drink in one of the bar areas — but probably should have. The rooftop seems like it would be cool and the vibe of the old school is fun — the lockers etc. are still there. The seats were pretty comfortable and we sat on the end. We had no problems with people getting up multiple times. Maybe our crowd was just more mellow? People were moving around the whole time, but it wasn’t distracting to us. Now this may not matter to some, but to a woman at a concert this was a truly great thing. I never waited in line for the bathroom — there were many stalls in the women’s rest room and I did not have to wait a single time! Maybe I just got lucky, but that was a first for me at a concert. Overall I thought this was a great venue for a small show.

This is a great venue but their biggest problem is parking. Other theaters around town have agreements in place with local businesses to use their parking lots after hours. This place really needs to do that. With the parking and traffic it becomes quite a tangle. The place has a lot of potential, and the audio is very good no matter where you sit in the room. The pictures and past makes it feels like an old high school. The beers were only $ 2 which was pretty cheap. Watched a great show, enjoyed the venue, they have a good summer lineup too, looking forward to seeing something else there soon.

I didn’t get to experience much about the venue because there is a distinct lack of information about their offering on their website. Contact with the venue a couple months ago indicated that the information would be updated but it had not been the last time I looked. I did see several bars and my friend went and got a drink after we found seating. He waited 20 minutes for his drink. Doors opened on time and the staff were very efficient about processing us through the lines to get inside. The venue itself was very clean and seemed well staffed. It was pretty good space to see a comedian(we saw Jim Jefferies). The sound quality was good although the seating arrangement could have been better. I got stuck behind someone tall and the floor had no tilt so I had to constantly swivel to get a line of sight on the show. The opening act was great — very surprising for a comedy show and he had merch but it was cash only. I get that when you have to do your own merch it’s complicated but I would have bought some if facilities would have been in place to have done so. I’m not even sure if they had an ATM on site as our show sold out so they booked another show for right after us and it was very crowded with the incoming and outgoing crowds. I do hope the venue comes together organizational-wise as it holds promise. The location is close enough to places like Slow Bar where you can grab a bite and a cocktail but I really would have liked to have checked out the venue beforehand to see what we were up against since it was GA. For the venue, I would think they would be better off with assigned seating for some shows. I know I would have paid extra to get a better seat. There was seating upstairs but it wasn’t clear from our downstairs vantage whether we could do better so we didn’t try to switch.

I love old spaces restored and they did an awesome job with this old building/school. The sound system was very good and restrooms are very clean. I think there are some adjustments to be made in the bar area, there is a table planted in the area where people line up for drinks and it kinda gets in the way(bad placement) it’s a little confusing trying to find the restrooms. I will definitely see a show here.

Saw Welcome to Night Vale at Revolution Hall tonight. Seems that they are better organized than what others have experienced recently. The employees were really nice. It would be helpful if they had signs directing you to the stairs once you enter the front door, because the auditorium is on the second floor. Pizza is in the bar on the first floor near the entry(it was good). There is a bar on the second floor(where the auditorium is), but that bar has no food. Old syle wooden seats or cushioned metal chairs. The cushioned metal chairs were comfy.

After the Neko Case experience this weekend and her walking out and not doing an encore as someone was video taping in a venue that doesn’t allow cameras or videos, this sucks… up your event staff or make sure they are super attentive to stop the loser so all of us do not have to suffer who abide by Porltandia rules. PS your sound is great. and loved th a Tastebuds pizza in the parking lot!

The novelty of seeing a show at a high school wears off when you remember high school for a sec. My main gripe is the general admission system. Like high school, people threw jackets over groups of seating for people who weren’t there. IMHO this shouldn’t fly. Outdoors, with a blanket or something at a big amphitheater, maybe but with limited seating and people who show up late, there shouldn’t be en masse saving of general admission seats. Also the comfort issue. Those wooden chairs aren’t the most cozy. Parts of the balcony were kinda unviewable for something like a concert but probably worked fine for lectures and moving characters. There are these bar/railings that obstruct the view up on the balcony. Most annoying however was the narrowness of the aisle. When combined with the previous mentioned unviewableness, it meant FOUR groups of people came in and sat next to us, sloshing drinks and getting settled, only to clomp back out through the ultra narrow aisle. My knees hurt from swiveling so far back and forth to accommodate. Too small for adults? Perhaps that’s nitpicky. The sound was great, bathrooms were clean and the staff were all helpful just maybe not the most ideal venue for a concert. There is a standing section by the stage and we did try that, too. That was probably the best option.

I won tickets on Unilocal to attend a taping of Live Wire hosted at Revolution Hall and it was rather fun to sit in a renovated high school auditorium! The layout is a little confusing when you walk in, the hallways are narrow and they obviously were not planning on having to control ticketed crowds at a high school. I think this will be improved as they finish the building. Just know going in that signage and flow are a work in progress. Seats were mildly comforrtable. Okay for an hour and then about 90 minutes in I started to get antsy. I am not a music person, at all, so even if I had an opinion about the sound quality you should not take it with any sort of weight. I will say this, I could hear everything. I think once the renovations are complete Revolution Hall will be a great, small(er) venue.

I went to see a recording of Live Wire and had a great time! The venue owner greats everyone on the way in, the staff is friendly and even with a packed house the staff remained calm and helpful. Definitely will return on my next visit.
