Safeway

I have been shopping at QFC but it’s much smaller (at least the one by me) and I needed a more main stream bigger grocery store to get all the products I wanted.
This Safeway is conveniently located next to many bus lines.
Upon walking in to your right there is a huge produce section with a large selection of organic products. It was well organized and stocked nicely.
The store was very clean and nicely laid out.
I walked down the baking isle and it seemed like everything was on sale. There were yellow price tags everywhere.
I needed to find the candy section because for some reason I couldn’t find it. I asked one of the workers who was stocking items and she gladly told me where it was and even where just the holiday candy was located.
(I also apparently walked past the candy section at least 4 times, so I need to get my eyes checked)
When it came time to check out I went straight to an empty line. The cashier girl was friendly, packed up my groceries and I was on my way.

They could use more cashiers at peak times also less excuses on why they can’t answer questions when I ask for locations or prices. They have an awesome deli staff just the rest could work on customer service.

This safeway never fails to annoy me. I have found moldy food on two occasions, the bagged salads and vegetables are almost always at or a day away from their ‘sell by’ dates, and there is no sense of urgency in the checkout lines. Other stores open another checkout if the lines are long but here you just continue to wait and wait while the checkers take their time.

Always friendly and helpful! If they don’t carry something I want to buy on a regular basis, they will order it in special for me! They seemed to have cleaned a lot and I’ve seen a lot more new, friendly faces! Great prices, great atmosphere!

My favorite late night safeway. It is always very clean. The produce section is a beautiful place at night. All the oranges and apples are lined up nicely, unmolested by rushed daytime shoppers.
Bakery has the most attractive breads compared to other safeways in the area.
Haven’t had an issue with customer service. Though once in a while you do get a baby employee that is still training and that can slow up the process.

Customer service is a zero here. People disappearing in the back at the meat counter Deli counter doing everything but waiting on customers. I guess preping for the next day. Two checkers with a line of five or six people waiting. Full carts doing self check out. Its where people in a hurry go to die. The store is not organized at all. Still dont understand why you need a gluten free section. Why not just put the Gluten Free item next to the similar item??? Why do it for some items yet not others? There seems to be no rhyme or reason. The fruits and vegetables are just as bad. Then the fruits werr covered in a wet slimmy substance yet not in a jet area. Who knows what that is? The prices are higher significantly enough to notice. Its down to either Safeway brand or i guess the brand they sell the most. Disappointing.

It’s your standard Safeway I guess. I went to the pharmacy counter and it literally took forever because they couldn’t ring me up on a second cash register while the person in front of me got through her *issues*. And the lady at the Postal Service counter, dang she is one disgruntled postal worker! I’d rather drive to the Sellwood location for anything remotely involving more than a simple pre-​paid package drop off, who knew even that could be a met with a «wait one minute» response. I would just drop the damn thing in a bin but there isn’t one here that accepts packages, so phooey! And they close for lunch just when you have postage needs. Ugh. Like there is no one else in the entire place that can cover a lunch shift at the USPS window. One freaking person.

World’s SLOWEST the pharmacy. They take forever to fill you prescription and take even longer to check you out. If you need your medication within 2 weeks, I recommend not coming here because they will lose your prescription and then realize that it was a prescription that was pushed back for 2 weeks because they’ve been busy.

They continue with the same service I’ve come to loathe. At least they are consistent! ;-)

Wait is forever there appears to be an efficiency issue of drop off and pick up. Safeway appears to fill prescriptions live meaning everyone waits. I prefer Walgreens were they have you drop off give you a time to return. I dropped off earlier around 2pm waiting in line a total of 21 mins so far there are two people in front of me. Probably going to take an hour. The pharmacy has a staff of three they all seem to be moving at a turtles pace.

The last time I shopped here, I’m pretty confident that the pharmacists made derisive and humiliating comments about me. Yes, they used clinical jargon that I didn’t fully understand, but the tone of their voices made it quite clear that they were talking behind my back – right in front of me. I tried to speak with the pharmacist who rang me up about this and she couldn’t give me a straight forward answer and continued to speak to me in an offensive and inappropriate manner. I have patronized this pharmacy for the last year because it is only a few blocks away from where I live and the convenient location helped me to put up with the usual half an hour wait time and general ineptitude. I used this pharmacy to fill the couple of scripts I get that are so easy to make up that a monkey could do it. However, I will not continue to use a pharmacy staffed by people who judge their customers based on the doctor prescribed medications that they need! I’ve heard the pharmacists here try to soothe angry customers complaining about the service and they have openly admitted that they have serious «staffing issues.» After my experience, I’d call that a pretty significant understatement.

This is my neighborhood grocery store, and also the store nearest my work. I am a nanny to two 2.5 twin boys and sometimes we have to run errands for mom or buy ingredients for lunch. We walk to the store in a giant double Bob stroller, carefully navigating the aisles and all the people in them. Most of the time we have no problem, but sometimes people block the way or have trouble getting around us.
While using the self check out, the boys very calm and sleepy, the self-​check out cashier on duty – Sara – was so nice and gave us ninja turtle stickers! She offered a tissue to one of the twins when he sneezed and told us about her own 1.5 and 4 year old boys. She made us feel at ease as other customers seemed impatient for us to finish. She clearly understood how cumbersome it is to shop with a huge stroller, two little people and then to try to fit all our groceries into the stroller. I just want to call her out for being kind and make our shopping experience more comfortable.
Additionally, an a separate occasion, a team member whose name I forget, immediately brought my phone to customer service after I left it at the sandwich counter one evening. When I came back to get it, she walked me over to the person at the customer service desk to say that the phone belonged to me. The Woodstock Safeway has some serious «people-​person» employees and I just wanted to take time to make that known!

This pharmacy is chronically slow and the lines are often postapocalyptic. The drug my dog takes is on their $ 4 list and it is registered as full price half the time, necessitating still more time to rectify the situation. The last rx took more than a day for them to fill, and even though the automated system called to tell me it was done, it wasn’t actually filled. There is one staff tech who is super sweet and the rest seem totally, and I do mean totally, incompetent. Step yo game up, Safeway.

Racist checker!!!
Was there yesterday to get a few things and cash in some lottery tickets. Waited in line behind two other customers at customer service. Since the customer in front of me brought some smokes. She needed to be ringed up somewhere else… Odd. Anyway, the checker never return to help me. She just kept looking at me from the self checkout stand. Complain to the supervisor, Steven, and he didn’t get a crap. He said he just started 45 minutes ago. What does that have to do with how that racist checker did to me?

Expensive place to get lunch, and can be very slow at times

The Chinese buffet is scary. I’m serious. I bought some beef stir fry at just before one in the afternoon last week, and it seemed like it was there for days. It was a mix of slimy and chewy, I spit it out and nearly felt sick.

Every single time I’ve been here, the checkers are miserable and rude. They are overworked, don’t get their breaks and forced to come in and work shifts they don’t want to… at least that’s what numerous employees have told me, without my even asking. The lines are terrible and all of the middle aged women working there all seem to belong to the same grumpy club. It’s sad, because they are so close to where I live and have everything I need, yet I avoid going here at ALL costs. Glad we are getting a New Seasons across the street.
My favorite story is when I went shopping there with my newborn and had to use my WIC and get a ton of groceries. The lady checking me out was openly annoyed with me that I had WIC and a large order and it was HER turn to go on break, but they sent her other coworker first… not my problem. When another customer got in line behind me, she told them, disgusted, «you better wait for another checker, cause she has WIC!». I was embarrassed. If I hadn’t needed my groceries so bad and wasn’t so overwhelmed with my newborn, I would have walked out and left my $ 300 worth of groceries right there.
When I asked for help out with my large order and newborn, the lady helping me bag made me feel as though she hated me. I was courteous and thanked her and she wouldn’t make eye contact, smile or talk to me. Most awkward ever.
I went home and cried after this trip. I took what little time, money and all my effort to go grocery shopping that day. Being a new Mom is scary and overwhelming. A simple trip to the grocery store should never induce tears.
This place is depressing. Happy employees create a good work environment, which invites more customers. Too bad «Slaveway» didn’t get the memo.
My recommendation is shop anywhere, but here.

Still the world’s slowest cashiers. U-​scan is faster!

I’ve been using this pharmacy for two years and can confirm that it’s terrible. A few months ago, they somehow mis-​filled a vital prescription such that I ran out in 15 days instead of 30. When I went to talk to someone about needing it refilled, they claimed that I must have accidentally spilled the pills somewhere, and would not refill it for me.
On one of my medications, I found another customer’s label for the same medicine alongside my own. Now, I have that customer’s name, prescription number, and doctor. I worry about how often that happens and am appalled that they would let a label with that information walk away with another customer.
Today, I’m finding out that a prescription that was supposed to be eligible for refill last week will not be refilled for another week, and it looks like I’ll have to go another week without another important prescription because Safeway doesn’t have their stuff together.
Terrible, terrible pharmacy and I will be switching pharmacies this month.

Someone mentioned the lighting, which for me is the redeeming factor at this Safeway. It’s in my neighborhood and convenient, but I rarely go unless I’m in a pinch. Here’s why:
–I don’t know what is going on in the produce department, but the last few times I have been, it has been slim pickins.
–I don’t even bother with the meat department. I go to New Seasons for selection.
–The checkout line is always incredibly long. Always. I have never seen it otherwise.

This Safeway is in my neighborhood and I go here all the time, especially since it’s near Goodwill as well. Some tips:
1. The prices are usually not cheaper than Winco, unless you have some coupons or it says on the tag «2 for 1»
2. Go to
and register your membership card. Look for the coupons you want. Next time you go shopping at Safeway, the price will be deducted automatically. No need more coupon clippings.
