Very eclectic menu that had me completely confused about what to order .So many tasty sounding choices! The fried calamari was excellent! Not greasy at all with two yummy dipping sauces. Fried onion rings were good, not great-probably wouldn’t order them again. I found the Kalua pork tacos to be quite salty, however, it could be because I’ve made a conscience effort to cut back on salt intake day to day. Drinks were delicious! Seems like a fun place to go with a group of friends and hang out for a few drinks. Will be back for sure, but the one negative I must point to out is parking. We landed up having to park several blocks away up the hill at lunch time, after we got tired of circling around. Won’t be a deal breaker, but might not want to do that in the pouring rain.

Unique restaurant with a variety of foods choices from different countries. I didn’t make it that far because I tried the«great balls of fire» challenge. I finish it and got my pic on the wall, I also got sick from how hot it was. Cool place, good food

It is a little crowded, fun for something different. We sat outside under the heat lamps which was very nice. We will be going back in the summer when the weather is nicer and we can sit outside

We absolutely loved our experience here! I had a groupon for $ 30 worth of food and drinks and it went pretty far! The prices were reasonable, ambiance was cool(great music!) and the food was incredible. They aren’t messing around with those balls of fire, they are SPICY. We also had the tamales and the Mac n cheese which were both awesome. We will definitely be back!

Previously I had a strong distaste for Salvador Molly’s and wrote about it on here. Immediately the owner contacted me and wanted to send me a gift certificate to try the food once more. I went back equipped with suggestions from him on which entrees were popular and which ones I might consider giving a try. To my surprise I loved my dish(it was the jambalaya). I went back again and ordered the Cuban sand which(loved it again!) I went back a third time and had the most amazing macaroni and cheese I’ve ever had! My overall experience with Salvador Molly’s has been outstanding. I was so impressed with the owner Rick’s thoughtfulness and genuine concern he has for his customers. I don’t know what went wrong the first two times I went there but something has definitely changed. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong dish for myself! Anyways, I know that I want to continue to support a great establishment like Salvador Molly’s and I want to continue to try new foods from around the world — recreated at Salvador Molly’s with an open mind; and I encourage you to give it a try too! Thanks again Rick for a wonderful experience! Danielle Miller

I was disappointed in my experience yesterday. I arrived with my 2-year-old daughter at 6pm to grab dinner. We were sat immediately with water and peanuts, but my first concern on timing was it took 15 minutes for our waitress to notice us & to take our order. I could tell the entire staff was overwhelmed. Unfortunately, after more than an hour we had to leave —at 7:15pm — without eating. It was bizarre that it would take that long, and frustrating that I then had to scramble to feed my daughter elsewhere.

The fish tacos were AMAZING. They were the best thing I have ever had. We ordered the Great Balls of Fire and sweet baby Jesus. I was sweaty, and it gave me a horrible stomach ache, but that is to be expected. The next day at work I thought I was gunna blow a gasket and shit all over the board room. I was blocked into the corner and had no escape. The meeting dragged on and on, but luckily I made it through(even though I was sweating bullets). Once I reached the toilet my ass was good as burnt. All my anal pubes were singed to shit. Overall the place was top notch, the only thing giving it 4 stars was the service was a little slower than it should have been.

My first review for another state falls on Salvador Molly’s. I’ll get right to it, my brother and I only wanted to come here to destroy our mouths with those flaming Great-Balls-of-Fire. After a lot of hesitation on how many balls we want to eat we decided that we wanted to enjoy our stay in Portland and explore the city instead of exploring the bathroom from eating too many of those fiery Satan Balls. We ordered 1 ball and split it. Did it burn? Yes. Yes it did. Was it bad? Not really, then again we had half a ball. Maybe on my next visit I’ll try more and test the limit of my body. Anyways back to the actual review, me and my family came here during lunch time when it was very quiet. Found a large table with no issues. Our server was quite awesome, cheerful, joked with us, and even did what she can to calm my loud daughter. Kudos to her. The food was really good! Nice portions that was just enough. The place is kinda cramped so I can imagine it gets crazy in there during dinner time. Overall cool place, food not bad, Great balls of fire are exactly as hot as the reviews state, staff is very friendly! I’d come back here in a heart beat!

I love going here with my best friend. It’s a great find in Beaverton. Great vibes, fun staff, and it literally feels like a get a way. The food here is amazing.

OK, I’m new to the suburbs and have no idea what to expect. Anywhere. It is all alien. «Bars» and«pubs» have bright fluorescent lighting, good beer is a dollar less than in the city, servers actually serve… it’s all confusing. Some bad, some good, all mystifying. Salvador Molly’s doesn’t have scarily bright lighting! It’s decorated in a post-Peewee global style. I’ve gone there a few times now, and the servers and bartenders I’ve encountered have without exception been far better at serving up service than the last 20 or 30 places I went while still on the East Side. They seem responsive, agile, and, well, genuinely friendly. Ask for that on Mississippi and tell me how that works out for you. It has a varied menu of flavors from all over. There is a heated enclosed patio for those Northwesterners who have to eat their food outside at all times regardless of weather. Special diet items like vegan, veg, GF, are clearly marked on the menu. I have never tried the Great Balls of Fire and never will, but they exist, and I saw a grown man cry eating them, who usually only cries during cute cat videos. I really, really like the fish tacos. I know I’m not in San Diego, and my expectations should therefore be obscenely low, but we live near the same damned ocean, darnit, and at times I still would like to get a passable — just passable — fish taco. These rock! More than passable. The pulled-pork-on-fries thing may plug your entire arterial system in 15 minutes, but it’s very, very good, and the damned fried calamari is absolutely perfect. Something so easy — that somehow everyone usually seems to get horribly wrong. Not greasy, not overcooked and rubbery, not undercooked and rubbery. And it comes with TWO sauces, which I wish everything did. Their molcajete sauce? Ask for a side of it, for whatever you’re eating. I don’t care; you need it. I’m almost going to start a «The Suburbs Don’t Always Suck» thread based on customer service out in these strange lands! BHH& Oleson 7 – 11? Killing it! Salvador Molly’s? The same! Also, like everything in the suburbs, it’s in a strip mall. Have a fish taco and then do Pilates and get your nails done! Yay! I have no idea.

What the appeal of this place is completely eludes me. It is ENTIRELY too small for the few tables they’ve crammed into the place. It is very loud, and the food is not even close to being average. I visited Salvador Molly’s with a Groupon given to me by a friend. I felt very sorry for her having wasted her money.

This was our first time visiting Salvador Molly’s and they were awesome! We had a Groupon that was really easy to use and our waitress was really nice. Their menu was easy to read and it’s on their web site as well! Food We had the Cocos Bay Calamari to start with and it’s served with two types of dipping sauce — a spicy southwest sauce and a tartar sauce(both homemade I believe). I also had a Margarita that was really good and they know what they’re doing ;) For dinner I had the Baja Saba Fish Tacos, which were sooo good, and fiancé had the Pele’s Volcano sandwich. Bottom Line I really like this place and they have good prices. We will definitely be back!

Fusion at its absolute best! I used a Groupon for lunch… $ 30 worth of food for $ 15, and even at full price this place would’ve still been 5 stars! The food, atmosphere, and servers 5 star all the way, the only thing lacking is parking — but for lunch there is plenty of space. I had the Coco’s Bay Calamari, so unbelievably mouth watering — especially with their two types of house sauces. And El Jefe’s Burrito with Kalua Mojo Pork, smothered; omg — what an explosion of flavor profiles, incredibly delicious! And their portion sizes are very big, in fact plenty to share — but, since it’s so so so good you will not want to! Such amazing fusion food; they have Vegan, Vegetarian, and even Gluten Free options in the entire menu. I will be a regular here for sure; they also have a full service bar! *And if you care about the Guinness Book of World Records, one was set here back on November 18, 2010 — so that even adds to the amazingness of this place!

One of my favorite places in Portland — the environment is great & the food even better! I highly recommend the Yucutan Sunshine Bowl & the Bulgogi Tacos. Drinks are plenty and creative — appetizers are great(wedges & rasta rings are great). We’ve been coming here and trying something new every visit, we’ve never been disappointed. PORTLANDMUST-TRY.

After years of having this place on my «must-try» list I finally got a chance to visit. Great ambiance, a superb setting for a fun dinner out or some drinks. Service was quick and the servers/bar staff upbeat and personable. The tamales were great and come with beans on the side that are so good I could eat just a bowl of those and be satisfied. The jerk chicken had great flavor but mine was VERY dry unfortunately. Portion size was large all around. I did try one of the Great Balls of Fire since I love spicy food. It delivered. Great flavor and the heat hits you instantaneously. I was god-smacked. You actually get a euphoric high off food that hot, quite enjoyable but understandably not for everyone. You must try these if you like extremely hot food. Have some extra napkins(or a towel! lol) nearby for your sweat. We went on a fairly frigid December night but they have a really nice outdoor seating area that is screened in. I plan on going back some time in the summer so we can enjoy that.

Sad! I use to love this place but it has gone downhill. Sweet potato soup had no flavor and lacked salt. Bahn mi was kind just blah. The sausage was quite dry, but had flavor. The noodles on the side were swimming in straight up fish sauce. Not sure what to think about all this. We may not be back sadly.

Sometimes I feel like I live in an alternate universe, and dinner here was one of those times. The place is full, and I don’t know why. Ok, ok, it’s got a «fun enough» vibe, but why that is enough to keep a food place in business is beyond me. Don’t get me wrong, our waitress was friendly and helpful, and the food got out in a reasonable, even timely, manner. But my kids had a Caesar and a Mac and cheese – both their favorites. Not even half eaten, and not because the portion sizes were overly generous. I had an artichoke tamale. That was three star. My honey’s wrap-not so much. The ten dollar guacamole tasted like plastic container supermarket guacamole. Ouch. You want to give the local places a chance. Ok. We did that. And if you haven’t spent time developing your palate,(not saying that as a slam, just an observation to make this review more useful), you’d probably say, it’s a cool relaxed place to eat with the family. But it didn’t work for the two foodies or our two kids.

We found this place after looking at the Man vs Food episode for Portland… thinking that everything they go to seems like something worth trying. And wow was this place ever worth it! A creative menu, funky space, and keen staff all contributed to our great experience. The food ideas are thoughtful — an insane amount of unique flavours in each bite, lots of spice, and a nice balance of rich and fresh. The bulgogi tacos are simply outstanding. The draft beer selection is short but different and diverse. Your server will help you find something you will love. I will need to come here more often when visiting Portland.

I would classify the type of food served here as fusion — a mix of Jamaican, Mexican and island influences, mostly Mexican. The two dishes we had, Jerked Tacos and an El Jefe burrito were both on the bland side, but were loaded with onions, peppers, and rice. There was very little jerked chicken in my burrito, but loaded with lots of the other items. There was Sriracha and a bottled habanero hot sauce available, and that that kicked the flavors up a couple of notches. I would award more stars but the hype does not as of yet match the food. But, I have yet to indulge in the hype. All the way, anyway. Our server Ian was great, making several trips to our table for refills and to make sure all was well. A special order for our daughter was met with a smile and«No problem». Just what we wanted to hear. Great service. The place seems a lot smaller than I had imagined it to be from television. The«Man versus Food» episode may have been shot at the other location, but I expected a larger place. Lots of tables both inside and a few outside though keep the place jumping. I like the west side room that gets lots of sun in the PM. I am a man whom likes his heat. I was not going to subject myself to the Great Balls of Fire challenge today as I had my family in-tow, but it is on my list. To that end, Ian was nice enough to share a taste of the habanero salsa that accompanies the«Balls». It was very tasty and plenty hot. I poured it over my El Jefe and was able to feel some of the treachery that awaits those who dare to accept the challenge. I was warned by Ian that the 5 little unassuming bites of Hell are extremely hot, and I could tell that the heat from the sauce becomes cumulative after the first few bites. Being a man with an ego that every once in a while needs a good dose of capsaicin, I will be indulging soon. I will update upon liftoff.
