This was so ever perfectly placed at the right time. I was out on a saturday night and needed some slight refueling. I just kept it very simple and ordered some chicken tacos. The tacos themselves were just perfect. This was some very tasty chicken and whatever sauce they used, it was doing it for me. Nice and cheap as well. It only cost me $ 3 for two tacos.

My husband takes his burritos seriously. For $ 6, our Siete Suerte burrito was DELICIOUS! And locally sourced. And they use pineapple which is apparently an «authentic» way to do things. Jupiter come out and talked with us for a few minutes in-between customers on this late open first thursday evening. He told us about the other side of the truck, which was a commission they did with local artists. He told us about their desire to create a rotating, authentic menu. All good things, real people, solid goals. They’re currently located right next to the Chinatown dragons at 4th and Burnside. YUMMMMMMMMM

I love bacon-wrapped hot dogs and Siete Suerte(Lucky Seven in English) does a bang-up job with their version, serving out of a truck decorated in colors of the Mexican flag, with an interesting mosaic on one side comprised of broken tiles. In addition, I snagged a carne asada(steak) taco and a nopal(cactus) taco. Tacos are $ 2, or $ 5 for three. I ordered my hot dogs without the fajita peppers(I don’t do green bell pepper, sorry). The bacon-wrapped hot dog is larger than your typical hot dog, so I wouldn’t necessarily say that at $ 6, the Lucky Seven hot dog is pricey. The tasty frank is served on the most incredibly soft lightly-flour-dusted hot dog bun. In fact, this is the best hot dog bun I’ve ever had, by far. The hot dog came with a very delicious aioli and perfectly grilled white onion. At my request, Danielle also added catsup(mustard is available). Salsas are available in squirt bottles at the counter. They also have habanero sauce in a bottle that wisely only has a tiny hole in the tip to prevent you from getting carried away with putting to much of the flaming sauce on your food. Oh, the bacon on the hot dog was excellent too — thick and tender. When I prepare bacon-wrapped hot dogs, I like mine with salsa fresca(a.k.a. pico de gallo), but Siete Suerte’s style is just as good. I had never heard of a cactus taco until today. But served on two little corn tortillas, I found the cactus taco delicious, maybe just a smidge salty, but then again, maybe not. The steak taco was seasoned perfectly and I very much enjoyed. The weren’t going to have horchata until later today, but did have a pineapple drink which I didn’t try. Hey, was I hallucinating on the way home when I thought I saw a pasture full of goats at Belmont and 11th?

On a more positive note… mosaic is pretty sweet… Prices though… How is this WAY cheaper than Kim m.(who I noticed only reviewed this place… suspect no?)was expecting 2 dollars for tiny tacos… tiny even for real street tacos and 7 fucking dollars for a bacon wrapped hot dog… was the bacon cured by Jesus? 3 dollars for a horchata? that is just plain nuts… but not as nuts as 7 bucks for a hot dog? Why because of some grilled peppers and a jalapeño aioli? God why can’t I find great taco’s in inner SE?

With the amount of taco food carts that there are in Portland, it is easy to pass any individual one up. do NOT pass siete suerte up! They are NOT your average taco cart. Firstly, all of there ingredients are local… which may or may not be rare for other mexican food carts. I have had tried all of there taco toppings, they are all good. The vegan ingredients are the stand outs. The soy curls are amazing and the cactus taco is my favourite. not only is the cactus taco something I have not found to the be norm in portland taco carts, it also my fav taco type in the siete menu. From it’s texture to it’s taste, I prefer it over meat(and I am, by no means, a vegan). I’ve tried everything in the menu, and, my stand out menu item, for sure, is the bacon wrapped hot dog. It is a tasty piece of food. Weather you’re looking for lunch or a late night drunk snack, the bacon wrapped hot dog is sure to please you. It’s a more gormet approach on an LA staple. Instead of mayo, it’s jalapeño aioli, and it’s topped with some amazing peppers. If you happen to be worn out on portland’s numerous mexican food carts, please do NOT pass up siete suerte… they will NOT let you down.

Get the horchata! I am telling you, it is unreal. Also, I am from LA, and their bacon wrapped hot dog(known in LA as «street meat») is totally the jam! Their Belmont location on the weekdays is right around the corner from my house… oooh trouble, in the greatest way. I will see you there.
