Went for their monthly prix fixe dinner with two friends, a carnivore and a vegetarian, I lean towards vegetarian but I’m flexible. The restaurant is happy to accommodate vegetarians and gluten intolerant eaters. The food was excellent, truly memorable. The 4 course dinner was $ 27.50 per person and was themed around the colors of the holiday. It included Butternut Squash Soup with squash blossom cream and candied red jalapeño relish. Oaxacan Tamales filled with carrots, raisins, and apples in mole negro wrapped in plantain leaves and topped with mole negro. Chiles en Nogada — roasted poblano chiles stuffed with mixture of pork(or butternut squash for vegetarians), nuts, candied fruit, pickled chiles, and olives topped with walnut cream sauce and pomegranate seeds. Dessert was Budin de Pan con Rompope bread pudding with Mexican rum-raisin crème anglaise. It would be difficult to tell you which course I liked most. If I had to rank the order from«OMG I love this and want to eat this every day» to «Wow this is fabulous.» I’d put Oaxacan Tamales at the top followed by Butternut Squash Soup, Budin de Pan con Rampope and finally Chiles en Nogada. The restaurant has a comfortable relaxed atmosphere and is family friendly. I look forward to going again.

Disappointing. I had high hopes for this place. Food was pretty bland and not even hot. I could tell it had been microwaved because it came out two seconds after I heard the microwave ding and was cold in spots. Definitely not worth 12 bucks. I’m also pretty over the whole ‘get your own water, utensils and condiments’ thing if I’m paying that much. I don’t know why this place is so popular.

Burritto, beer and a shot for $ 10! What a deal. Great local tap list… And the food is amazing! Really nice to see vegan and vegetables options too. The tortillas are handmade! Pablano Crema and the squash mole are superb. You really can’t ask for better! Thanks Pablo.

I’ve eaten here twice and I have to say, the first time, I LOVED the burrito I ordered, was very tasty, well made and thought I had found another Mexican restaurant in Portland/Old Town to frequent, as I live nearby. But on a recent visit, this second time wasn’t as satisfying. I still think it’s not a bad place, but not sure I want to try again, because of the inconsistency in the dishes from one time to the next. So, I’ll still consider this place again, but it wouldn’t be on the top of my list for Mexican. I still leave it 4 stars, because of that first time, it was amazing. I recommend the pork or chicken burrito, which I had a mixed one and it was great! Also, it was lunch time versus dinner, so not sure if different staff or meal time had anything to do with the quality?

Had lunch here today. Split a mole verde pork burrito smothered with green salsa with my wife. It was great and HUGE. Way too big for one person. The green salsa was excellent. Everything you’d hope the green chile in New Mexico would be but never is. First of all, unlike the green chile in New Mexico, this green salsa isn’t so damn hot that you can’t eat it. Most of the green chile in New Mexico is so hot, the heat is the only thing you get out of it. They said they usually have Montejo beer but they were out of it today. Who knows? Maybe they carry it and maybe not. I think Montejo and Bohemia are the only two Mexican beers worth drinking. They have a full bar but we were headed for a matinée at the Living Room Theater near Powell’s so we stayed away from the tequila. We’ll definitely be back soon. The burrito, a Pacifico, a horchata and a half order of chips and salsa plus a small tip was only $ 13 here and well worth it. Didn’t try the tacos here and they’re much more than the $ 1.50 a taco you can pay some other Mexican places but I’m sure the size and the difference in quality here justified the higher prices. I understand that the owner here is a friend of Lesley Tellez who used to run a company in Mexico City that gave tours of D.F. restaurants and markets and writes a food blog. Leslie has also released a cookbook of D.F. foods, «Eat Mexico» this year which is a welcome addition to the library of anyone seriously interested in Mexican food. We saw a copy of «Eat Mexico» at Mi Mero Mole but didn’t ask if it was being sold there. If you go and find that it is, get it. The recipe for chicken tinga alone is worth the price of the book.

Great selection of margaritas and overall drink menu is unique. Food was affordable, I had a chicken bowl with rice and beans and was pretty good, probably not enough food for someone with a big appetite, but was perfect portion for me. Boyfriend enjoyed a chicken plate, flavors weren’t popping, but was decent. It’s a good size spot for a group of people and there were a handful of Timbers fans downing pitchers of margaritas before the game. Bar has TV’s for sports fans and there were some tasty looking desserts in the fridge on the way out.

Despite the somewhat sketchy area(we got asked for change twice walking to the spot and twice walking away), we decided to try this place at their Chinatown location. The area is actually pretty updated and the restaurant is clean and nice. We got the chips and salsa(which was SO good), the gabacho bowls in tinga chicken and adobo pork. I personally like it better with tinga chicken. One gabacho bowl was hearty enough to fill me up and I was starving – my wife had a little left over. There’s tons of seating, lots of drink options, and a pretty simple menu. I’d say it’s a great place to get good quality Mexican food with friends; not the greatest Mexican food I’ve ever had, but still pretty great.

Hipster Mexican food, and I don’t mean that in a good way. I mean that in a sense that it’s quality is artificial and surface level at best. They label it as this sort of experience, but it’s really just hipsters serving you lukewarm Mexican stew. Food is meh, at best, and nothing to write my Mexican grandmother about. She’d slap me saying«Mijo, I have taught you better. Why do you waste your money?» If you think it’s a good deal, you obviously don’t know how cheap Mexican food is to make. I would go back only if there was nothing else open, and I hadn’t had Mexican food in many months.

If i could I would give it 10 stars the food was not good it was amazing the staff was so nice and it was just perfect. I have eaten homemade Mexican food before and since then I have never had food that was that good until yesterday to say I was impressed would be selling it short. Can’t wait to go back

My friend and I love to come here for the delicious food and fast service! We usually order two plates, whatever mole they have and the meatballs. Along with chips, salsa and guacamole, it’s a feast guaranteed to allow for some extraordinary left overs, which reheat beautifully I might add. We’ve started ordering a flight of tequila with our meals and that adds another dimension to our already fantastic experience. The staff is knowledgable and friendly in regards to the enormous tequila selection and are happy to make suggestions for a customized flight.

Having spent a lot of time in Austin, all tacos invariably get benchmarked against Taco Deli or Torchis. But Mi Mero Mole lives up to such high expectations. Their tacos are made fresh and the fillings are very flavorful. My favorite is the lamb in black mole sauce. The mole has a strong, almost nutty flavor to it. And the lamb is succulent. But really you can’t go wrong with any taco choice here. And like a good taco place, very affordable pricing @ $ 2.75/ taco.

I’ve never had a Mexican meatball before, but the albondigas at Mi Mero Mole have stayed on my mind for days now. I had them in one of three tacos, the others being beef lengua and shrimp. The albondigas were moist and tender, with a very slightly spicy flavor in a red sauce. I enjoyed the lengua also, having had a bad first experience elsewhere. This time the cubed meat was accompanied by potatoes and a salsa verde, and provided a redemptive experience — not overly fatty, with a soft yet pleasant texture. I liked the atmosphere of Mi Mero Mole — casual and open, with a small bar and TV at the far end of the restaurant. Lots of natural light and space distinguished it from my stereotype of Mexican-American restaurants, and I enjoyed seeing the corn tortillas being made fresh at a station near the front door. I’ll be back, if for no other reason than to try the albondigas again.

Shoo dilly this place is great. First off, Mi Mero Mole has an amazing happy hour. A pint of beer for 2.50! On the west side no less. You can also get a giant basket of freshly made chips and salsa for $ 1.50 during happy hour. These chips are excellent, hot, and fresh. Weren’t able to make it to happy hour? No worries, they have one of the best all day deals around. For a mere $ 10 you can get one of their excellent, massive burritos, a beer, and a shot of tequilla. Truly a deal of the century. I’ve tried several of the burritos and most are pretty good, but the langua ahumada is so damn good that now this is the only thing I ever get. Generous portion of cubed langua that is cooked and seasoned perfectly. Their house made hot sauces, especially their habanero, are also a must. I’m worried I might get burned out soon because I go so often. I unfortunantly can’t speak to the rest of the menu either because the langua burrito is so damn good I can’t bring myself to try anything else. If i start to feel burned out I’ll update with whatever I get next.

Muy bueno Mex café and brew stop in Chinatown. Street walk sign reads«Burrito + Beer + shot for $ 10» drew us in as we walked on by on a 85º day. We needed a cool place out of the sun and a «cold one.» Good Gigantic IPA on tap too! Happy hour was 2 – 6PM(Saturday). All ten beers on tap at $ 2.50/pint – can’t beat it! Mex food & vibe – very good! Get on down to Chinatown. Suggest a tour of the marvelous Chinese Lan Su gardens before stopping at Mi Mero Mole! Stop! Guzzle beer! Shoot shots! Eat lots!

My husband and I came here on a recent trip to Portland. They offer a great selection of items a la Chipotle, but more authentic. We absolutely loved the homemade chips and guacamole. Would have been a 5-star review, except the customer service left something to be desired.

This is a little different than most Mexican-inspired eateries. Mi Miro Mole has a huge selection of ever-changing guisados — tasty sauces filled with meats and vegetables. Service is fast, especially for tacos. The tacos here are a corn tortilla, rice and guisado. Mínimo. I’m all for omitting raw onions and cilantro anyway! Of course they have other ways of providing tastes of their guisados you would find at any Mexican food spot. They have a Taco Tuesday worth sharing flavors: $ 13 – 14 all you can eat. With about a dozen options of taco-guisados, it’s a PhD in flavors. But you are going to need a team to take a taste of each of the dozen. Maybe your dining partners will become Mero Mole regulars? Since their guisados are continuously rotating and evolving, maybe it could be a regular stop? Mexican food with rotating sauces is A-OK!

Vegetarian Mexican can sometimes be harder to come by than one may expect. Mi Mero Mole is very close to my office and offers a large variety of vegetarian options — that are great! I’ve some here both during lunch and dinner, and each time have been impressed with the food. The Gabacho Bowl is my favorite dish by far. Beans, cheese and rice, plus toppings. It’s all a simple vegetarian girl could want. I should mention that they have a pretty awesome margarita. Worth a try, especially during lunch after a crappy meeting.

Oh how that rajas burrito brings me back! I haven’t even tried the other guisados because that one has me hooked. Mild poblano peppers cooked slowly with onions in a cream sauce is really outstanding. I’m also a huge fan of their chips. They can really stand up to their delicious guacamole and their queso. I tried a few bites of my friends chicken nachos and I would like to get an order of my own sometime. I adore their habenero salsa, but I can’t always say that my stomach agrees ;) Try a drop before dousing your food. Go for their $ 10 burrito, beer and a shot special. I get several meals out of one of those babies.
