Simons claims to be wholesale but is far from it. Their silver prices are a joke! Staff is clearly not familiar with jewelery fabrication or equipment. I always spend 10 minutes explaining what I need. Simple things like hart burs or buffs leave them confused. If you are a serious jeweler check out the Willamette Building… specifically West Coast Findings.

This place is cool. A fairly small store tucked off 99 towards Lake Oswego(not far from the Goodwill Bins — so doubly cool). Lots of stuff is kept behind the counter for them to show you. My friend and I walked around with big smiles and really enjoyed thinking about stuff we could make, stuff we hoped to afford one day so we could make more shit… The usual. Displays, lots of displays(gift bags, boxes, bead boxes, you name it). Watch repair, a lovely bead wall of precious and semi-precious stones. I’m really not sure how bead prices stack up with other places, some cute chatchkies — bejeweled card/cigarette case, book marks at failry low prices for folks to possibly resell, so you could perhaps find a gift for a funky girl here if you know one. I was there for chains and possibly charms. Only sterling charms and way out of my price range. There was a decent choice of chains — sterling, rodium-plated, as well as other metals. Prices are not as good as you can get at a large wholesale operation, or online I’m sure. But I found a couple chains I could use for little enough(6 feet for $ 11) of very small chains. I’m sure they have lots of other stuff I’m forgetting or missing. The people there are super nice and helpful/Kendra was awesome, and we loved her! Will go back here for sure.

I was surprised to read some of the reviews saying that the staff was rude, as I’ve had the opposite experience at Simon Golub every time I’ve gone in. They are consistently helpful and pleasant. Even though this is a specialty store, they don’t expect everyone who walks in the door to be an expert. I have asked some very basic newbie questions and have always been met with kindness and a willingness to explain things to me. On the flip side, if you have a specific esoteric question, they will go out of their way to find the answer for you. Yes, the hours are not ideal, but the staff makes up for it.

This place is the spot to get bulk/wholesale metals, findings and tools for jewelers in town. They are super mom and pop/family owned vibes– it’s like walking into a lil’ portal and stepping back in old school Portland. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable to boot. The pricing is decent: ranging from very reasonable to head-scratching/shrug like«really?» movements. But again it is the best in town that I know of.

I’m always after the wholesale and professional suppliers that allow normal mortals to shop in their establishments. Simon Golub & Sons is THE place in Portland for jewelry and small metals supplies. Their staff is very helpful to people like me, who are working to solve a fabrication problem, even if it is a new use for their supplies. I’m not a beader, but if you are, you will find many items there useful, and very inexpensively priced. Likewise if you are studying metal and jewelry work at Oregon College of Arts and Craft, you will find this store a veritable gold mine, and literally too. Thanks SG&S!

These folks really are the best! One of the few one-stop shops in the area for jewelry making needs, from the amateur to pro. The staff is friendly(unlike pretty much any other supply store I’ve encountered) and they are very knowledgeable and willing to offer suggestions or help you find a solution the whatever problem you may be having. They carry most items in stock but special orders have been pretty quick in my experience with tools anyway. So let’s see… fair prices, pleasant staff, great selection. 5-Stars!

I LOVE this place. Hands down the best pricing I have found for findings. The service is great and they have an amazing selection from displays to beads. It’s too bad they aren”t open on the weekends though.
