Seriously great value. My husband and I are SO full after only spending $ 14. That’s what’s up. I loved the atmosphere in the dining area. It was cozy and comfortable. Beautiful wood tables. The chef was busy yet polite and welcoming. We will be back!

Great hidden gem. Wonderful food at unbelievably good prices. Not sure if the owner is there to make money or just enjoys cooking for the neighborhood. Either way he’s a great asset to the community! Try the fries and fry sauce. They take a little bit of time as he cooks them fresh but they are great and super cheap.

Love this place! Owner is friendly and food is always fresh. Yes, it’s a 1 man operation so sometimes it is a bit slow, but he will tell you when you order! The homemade potato fries is the best item on their menu… which you can get with their cheeseburger that costs $ 3.95. How much better can it get? Parking is just in front of the house, nothing fancy. The place is perfect to just hangout with a few friends, have great food & enjoy the great PDX weather.

I think of you go to this place knowing the wait is longer than you’d have at another café/restaurant, you will be pleased. Just don’t go when you’re on a rushed lunch break. With that being said, the owner/operator is such a nice person and it’s obvious he loves what he does and takes pride in his work. I’d chose that over a chain any day. While you’re waiting there are nice tables and chairs to sit at, and even board games to play. I think this place is such a gem.

I don’t understand these reviews, there’s a terribly long wait, and the food isn’t worth it. Sadly, I went twice to give a second chance as the first trip was less than ideal(for reasons I won’t list or this review will get booted.) Cheap doesn’t equate to value. Food wasn’t special or interesting and took 30 – 40 minutes to land at the table because there’s only one person working. Better quality burgher and faster service would’ve gotten them two more stars.

I’ve been trying to go to this place for months now and for some reason or another it’s been closed– not today! I got the chicken soho and it was amazing. I also got the bacon cheeseburger and the linguica sandwich, both of which were really great. The price is unbeatable and nothing lacks in flavor. Plus the man behind the counter is very nice which makes for a pleasant experience.

We took a herd of 10 people to this«microcafe» one mid afternoon and for almost the entire time we were there had the place to ourselves. The food is good, everyone was happy with what they ordered, though I don’t know if anyone would crave any of their dishes, pretty standard fare. The best part: The price. Cheap cheap cheap. I’m pretty sure the entrees were all $ 3.95 each. We paid like $ 50 total adding in some drinks for the 10 of us. What a deal! The worst part: This microcafe appears to be a one man operation, so food takes a while to cook and come out. I think we waited about 30 minutes for our food. Ambience was pretty fun, and being a group of 10 on the covered patio was a blast, but I could see how the wait time and not having the place to yourself could detract from the experience. Wishing the owner the best! He’s got a great thing going.

Vegetarian Pita for $ 3.95 + potato wedges. The weeds are crispy and the seasoning is delicious!

Sitting here and waiting for 45 minutes for a hamburger is not my idea of a good time. There were two orders before ours… Yeah it’s one person making the food, but this is ridiculous. I live two blocks away but I’ll never come here again. I don’t care how good the food might be, but I wouldn’t know since I’m still waiting for food…(The guy told us it would be 25 minutes and I don’t appreciate being lied to).

Best food stand/cart I’ve been to! Quality greatly exceeds the price! Portion size is more than adequate. If you’re coming in a cold weather, don’t forget a sweater! Perfect summer time hangout spot. Board games is a good addon! I suggested for him to get into the Portland wedding scene. Being a bride, I know he will be a big hit for those looking for a quality but affordable catering although he said he can’t expand yet. Overall, greatly recommended!!!

After living in this neighborhood for a few months and feeling it is a wasteland of Mcdonalds and Taco Hell — we drove around for 20 minutes trying to find a semi-healthy, normal person café where the main draw was the food and not the lottery. We stumbled on South of Holgate on Unilocal and made a beeline in that direction, in partial disbelief at what we’d seen on Unilocal. This place is real I tell you. Like a magical unicorn that isn’t magical at all — and now it has won my heart forever. We popped in and ordered off the simple menu with the best prices in Portland. He was hand-making everything from scratch when we walked in — such a promising site. The two of us ordered chili homefries with everything, a burrito, two sodas, a piece of fudge, and a cheesecake cupcake for… DRUMROLL…$ 12!!! We will def be back. The food was great and we now know that there is life after 122nd — ok, not really, at least on 122nd.

Found this place on Unilocal.Needed cheap eats for family of five en route from Clackamas area back to Beaverton area. Fun to sit outside on porch in sunshine. Fries were yummy. All of us found stuff on menu easy. Fun to play board games while we ate lunch. Lunch for total of $ 18.50 was super reasonable. Great place!!!

This is the most interesting little shop I ever been to. The setting is so cute, yet interesting. I like how the young neigborhood kids would come here for some chatting or playing games while waiting for their food. The prices are ridiculously cheap for the quality and quanity. This place gives you the feeling of waiting for a home cooked meal. The wait could be long but definitely not crazy(esp if there’s only one cook). Tips well everyone! The owner truly deserves it.

Cheese burger and fries are the best! Great taste and feels like summer cooking! His meat has better taste than most grommet restaurants. Cheap delicious eats.

It is crazy cheap, absolutely satisfying, and so quaint you can take a book and spend 45 min appreciating the little things that make life wonderful. Mark, the owner, is kind and generous. He has herbs growing around the stand, and he provides clippers for you to snag a few leaves with so that you may add to either food or tea. I have tried about 70% of the menu and and not one item hasn’t had me thanking him repeatedly for the meal. You will not be disappointed here.

Oh my dear lordy! This place is so cute, with board games you can play while you’re waiting and little christmas lights hanging around! And the FOOD! Oh my GOD, the FOOD! It’s absolutely delicious! I had the portugese sausage dog, i cant remember the name of it, but it was de-lish-shus! Yumm! My dad had the cheeseburger and said it was fantastic! Both came with«house fries» which are basically a mix of potato wedges and planks. Soooo good! AND the portions are big, considering the price we paid! 2 iced teas, one arrowhead water, a burger and portugese sausage dog all for a little over $ 10! Definitely would recommend and go here again! The owner lives right behind the food cart and is actually part portugese, the sausage is a family recipe(: It really is South of Holgate!
