Super chill and laid back late night scene. Even the food is quite good with healthy ingredients available too!

Vegan coffee shop that is open 24⁄7? Sign me up! Coffee selection was pretty good. Plenty of seating. Good wi-fi. Cool staff, Nice assortment of baked goods. What’s not to like?

By a total fluke we found this gem! After having a long weekend of strictly mediocre coffee I decided to have a chai, my husband got a latte, both with the hazelnut milk. It was the best chai I’ve ever had. The hazelnut milk was so delicious. The texture was amazing. My husband said his espresso was fantastic.

I love this coffee café! I’ve been there in the daytime twice, and plan to go back. The baristas and owner are super friendly and courteous. The atmosphere is very nice, too — kinda like New Seasons in Happy Valley or on NE Interstate, except with couches and comfy chairs. Food is excellent, too. Highly recommended!

The staff here is wonderful! Everything you’d expect in SE Portland. My favorite beverage is their green jasmine tea(and is the best I’ve ever tasted), and their everything veggie bagel couldn’t be better. Mmmm

Nice laid back atmosphere with plenty of comfortable seating. Option of several couches, stools and tables and chairs. I ordered a mocha and it was delicious. $ 4.75 for a 20 oz. I came at around 2am and there were about a dozen patrons in there. I felt safe and comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone on a first date or anyone who just cant sleep at night and dont want to be home.

My favorite café in Portland! A homey feel, friendly staff, an array of unique drinks, PETUNIAS baked goods, AND open 24⁄7. When I attended Reed College, the Grind was my safe haven. I studied there almost every week night, staying up way past the closing time of any café in Portland and always finding a comfy spot to do my work. Their variety of lattes and milks is a huge bonus for a frequent visitor. A Jade with Hemp milk is my number one pick when at the Grind. They also recently began selling Petunia’s, a gluten free, vegan bakery and one of my absolute favorites. They also offer gluten-free bread for their sandwiches which is another great option. The perfect Portland café.

Worst coffeehouse experience of my life. The coffee was horrible, it was extremely crowded, and the ‘chill’ music was too loud and almost unsettling. The environment is not relaxing and it’s way too small. I’m sure that the password was somewhere but the wifi was locked despite it saying that it’s free and I will never return.

One of the only places that’s open late at night that has a blender to make a mocha frappuccino. I like that :-) The baristas were very friendly and patient while I was getting my drink just right. The place is grungie inside. I can’t help it it makes me feel just kind of grossed out.

Sometimes really cold and over crowded great place to study with a partner sometimes but not a great place to eat

Kind of the stereotypical late night coffee shop. This place is 24 hours, 365 days a year, which is pretty rad. Wifi can be a bit spotty(I’m guessing it’s likely overwhelmed). While it’s in a bit more industrial part of town(though just a few blocks from the new Orange line), it’s been pretty crowd whenever I’m in there, though I haven’t been in after midnight. It’s got a ton of seating, though some of it is definitely a bit close together. I tend to like working at the counter top along the window since I can stand at it. Clientele is diverse — students who are studying, tech folks hacking away on stuff, locls sitting around and chatting. It’s a nice vibe. Maybe not the quietest place if you’re really looking for that deep, intense focus, but good for those who like a little bit of busy around them.

Great coffee at a 24 hour place. I truly can’t ask for more. The dirty elephant chai latte is soooo good. Service is cool and knowledgeable without being snobbish. That’s hard to come by in a good coffee spot in Portland.

I have severe allergies, so when the barista was able to make me an amazing latte, I was over the freaking moon. Not only that – it was 2:30 in the morning and she was fantastic, friendly, patient… Customer service is hard, especially after a long day and especially when dealing with difficult orders. I am so appreciative and grateful that this coffee place had something I could have other than black coffee(as much as I love coffee!) AND had amazing staff. So much respect.

I’d like to thank this place for the great hospitality I’ve received during my hectic summer term. There’s a certain woman though by the name of Payton who is absolutely remarkable at being the most hospitable and most respective barista I’ve ever met. I’ve done quite a few all nighters here and she’s always the best person to keep you up with her quality made coffee and tea. Best place ever!

There is never a «normal» coffee day at SE Grind… though who would want one? There are a 1,000 fantastic reviews of this place. So what to say? Cassy and the rest of the Fab Staff make — — - «not Normal»…Cosmic Joy.. I come here socialize and meditate, and listen to their favorite Pandora Station in pure bliss. Oh and the Coffee… especially the Mocha Diablo is out of this world… SE Grind is a Cosmic place. never normal… just the way I like it.

An extremely comfortable late-night space for creativity, dicking around, and snacking. It’s like your house, only a lot better. A wealth of seating options, exotic latte flavorings, magic bars that I’d eat at 2 a.m. OR2 p.m.(whoa), artwork that doesn’t suck(double whoa), night shift baristas that don’t suck(WHOA), outlets for all, open forever. Three cheers and five stars for SE Grind!

I used to live in this place 8 years ago when I had no job and could just hang out wherever, whenever I wanted to. Loved this place as it’s one of the few(maybe only?) places open 24hrs that isn’t a Denny’s. Recently, I moved back to the area and decided to check this place out, only this time it’s at 2pm. not 2am! Even though it’s 8 years on and I’m hanging out to get a coffee so I can get some productive work done, this place is still pretty awesome. The service is great. I spoke to three people making coffee/taking orders and all were pretty nice and friendly — this matters a lot to me! First drink I ordered was the Dirty Lady chai and oh man, it was NICE. I also ordered a quesadilla which was a little bland but I’m also the type who has to have a million flavors bursting outta my food so not sure if I can detract a star for that(besides, the salsa was really tasty). Workwise, there are just enough spaces for everyone to sit and finding a plug socket doesn’t seem too difficult for that laptop with a crappy battery life.

Stopped in early for a Dirty Lady chai and a Mocha. The atmosphere is very comfy and laid back. Lots of soft seating and counter areas to hang out on your laptops. Drinks were really good too and friendly service.
