Of course during school time this place is busy, it’s in the heart of PSU, but they do their best by staffing well and getting drinks out as fast as possible. I go here often since I work near here and they always have a positive attitude and smile. They say hi to all who walk in and keep the place very clean. One time when it was busy they had passed over my order and I had to wait a while, they apologized and offered my a free drink my next visit. I only wish Starbucks would not charge for non dairy milks, a little peeve of mine, but not a personal comment on this location since they can’t do anything about that.

Review Update: Since my previous review this SB has had a renovation(heres a list of changes from my observations) — 1) Long tables facing the outside now have outlets underneath, charge up! 2) New cooler area near the pastry display, very appealing to the eye(grab & go kind of feel) 3) Change in lighting(above the main area) 4) Open area by the ‘pick up drink’ area = easier access for mobile orders 5) Big middle ‘island’/table that is wheelchair accessible I also noticed great improvements in customer service — 1) You will be welcomed when you first walk in(sometimes it is a little startling but it’s better than nothing) 2) Cashiers are assertive, friendly, and ready to help 3) Previously I noticed a disconnect as far as team work but I noticed that the workers make a lot of effort into working as a team to get the drink and food orders out quickly and correctly 4) Seating area is constantly being wiped down/cleaned, even during peak times I am very impressed by the improvements I see at the SB location since my first review. I know Starbucks are one in a million/chain but this location is special to me, maybe it has something to do with always having the perfect customer experience when I go there, after all I did check-in here 65+ times!

These guys are amazing! I have to get my chai tea everyday in the afternoon, and I must say the group of people working at the time I go have to be one of the best baristas I’ve encountered, and it’s pretty hard to impress me ;) On days I really need a pick me up cake pop(girls you know when that is!) these guys threw in an extra. So sweet! I only ever go to this Starbucks anymore. Thanks! :)

This Starbucks in the Portland State University’s Urban Center is good. It should be better, because it is not fully up to task as a place to study. There are tables outside, and inside there are plugs, but a very limited amount. Lines can get long, but they tend to go by rather quickly. I tend to go here every so often. There’s all kinds of tables in all kinds of sizes, most a bit too narrow and against the window, but fine for all those laptops. Their selection of La Boulange pastries at this franchise tends to be the highlight. As usual, please look to other Starbucks locations nearby, especially if for studying. A Regular Joe will likely enjoy such Starbucks.

I had an issue with an employee named Rocky at this location last week. I simply wanted to break a $ 50 bill, but I feel that I received a very rude interaction. The employee said they couldn’t do this without my buying something(which I can understand) but it’s the way this employee handled the situation that bothered me. As I was in a hurry, I agreed to buy a banana so that they could break my $ 50 bill. Rocky took my bill and began examining my bill with his co-worker, commenting on how the new $ 50 bill looked. He then laughed and said sorry as he was taking a long time to complete this transaction(I assume he noticed I might be in a hurry). As he was continuing to take his time while counting my change(all 1’s and 5’s), he apologized again to which I mentioned that his apology didn’t seem authentic. He then laughed and said that I was right and he wasn’t sorry. The entire interaction was very passive aggressive and odd. I stood there quietly, hoping I’d get my change without any more rude comments. I was wrong. As I left he stopped me as I was leaving and yelled«Hey, do you want to return that banana?!» I was so confused by his behavior that I left immediately. I used to work at Starbucks in the Warranty Services section in Seattle. I thought that the green apron behaviors were still something that Starbucks implemented. This interaction makes me think that Starbucks will hire anyone from the street. Rocky, it’s very obvious that you hate your job, but it isn’t my fault. Don’t take your bad mood out on customers that just want to go to Starbucks for friendly customer service. To the managers at this location, keep an eye on this employee. By far the worst customer service experience ever. I will not return to this Starbucks location as I do not want to have another interaction like this.

Cleanest, most friendly Starbucks ever! Usually pretty busy but very quick and they always have smiles on their faces. A great pick me up before class.

When you’re early to a Keller show and all the local coffee places in the area are closed for the evening, this SB is your solution to not paying $ 3.50 for questionable drip coffee at the auditorium. This newer SB location is inviting and well-lit. There are plenty of places to spread out study materials and outlets to plug in electronics. Filled with mostly students on a weekday evening, there was no line and the barista took my order right away. My mocha was made perfectly and was just what I needed. I can’t speak to how it handles hoards of caffeine-thirsty students during weekday mornings, but I found it to be a wonderful solution for my Wednesday night coffee needs.

Starbucks at PSU urban center, finally! I love you and I’m so glad you’re here. So clean, new and shiny. Plenty of friendly staff, that keep the line moving swiftly even early in the morning. They’re as excited to be here as we(the people) are excited to have them here! Fyi, it’s right off the streetcar line so no parking lot… just bike and street parking. Big courtyard for eating outside and some inside seating as well.
