We had a fantastic experience with Michael from start to finish. His professionalism, expertise, and creativity made for an impressive process and result. We highly recommend him for design and installation.
Our project involved a new patio installation, lawn removal, new planting beds, and water management.
Professionalism: Michael maintained excellent written and verbal communication with us throughout the process, starting with the initial consultation. Changes were consistently documented. We always knew when he and his work assistant were going to be working. The work space (our yard) was tidy, organized, and safe.
Expertise/​Creativity: Michael suggested and implemented successful water drainage systems in our water-​logged yard. Most impressive is the bluestone patio he put in — the process of choosing the stone, laying out the pieces, making hand cuts, and installing the stones was amazing to watch. The final result is a work of art that fits in with the tone of our small yard.
Also worth noting is his work partner, Elliott. She was equally reliable and talented. Stone Water Tree is a great team company. We are so glad we found Stone Water Tree for our yard.

What a great team and the end product was exactly what we wanted. They took a small space and designed a pathway that met our needs as well as our beloved dog, Harry. Harry gives it a 4 paws rating.

These folks transformed our boring yard (with such «charming» amenities as dead photinias, lumpy grass, and a peculiar piece of fence buried in vines) into a lovely botanical paradise. Michael was the perfect choice to lead this transformation. He took our initial plan and together we tweaked it to make the best use of sun/​shade patterns, available plants and hard materials, and our long-​range goals.
The crew ripped out the old, ugly stuff and installed a great new patio, a gravel path winding through some beautifully graded flowerbeds, a succulent garden, and a charming open area carpeted with low-​growing thyme. A great mix of native and well-​adapted plants are now taking root, and the team left the entire place perfectly mulched. It’s still a young garden, of course, and the lush, abundant look will come in a few years — but it’s also beautiful right now, and we sit on our new patio and just marvel at the transformation.
Everyone on the team is super-​knowledgeable about plants and hardscaping. We very much liked the fact that Michael has regular employees — folks who are real pros, used to working together as a team — instead of just hiring temps project-​to-​project like some firms do. They are such a nice bunch of people. They made the entire process a pleasure.
It was a big project and not an inexpensive one, but Michael’s bid was very competitive and we feel like we got an excellent value for our significant investment. Michael was terrific about doing things in a cost-​effective way while still maintaining great quality. We really couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out.

Stone, Water, Tree was outstanding from start to finish. The owner, Michael, spent a significant amount of time talking with my husband and I about our goals and ideas during his initial visit. He made great suggestions and helped us fine tune our vision. The bid was submitted shortly thereafter and was competitive with the other bid we received.
Michael and his crew arrived promptly and worked extremely hard through both sunshine and rainstorms for more than a week on our project. They removed sod, shaped the area, added topsoil, and barkdust. They planted over 100 flowers, shrubs, ferns, trees and bulbs. A gravel path with flagstones, 2 dry wells, and a river rock drainage channel were also constructed. Everything was done with care and expertise. They did an excellent job of cleaning up at the end of each day.
I appreciated both the professionalism and the friendliness of everyone involved. Michael was in frequent contact through out the project and made sure we always understood what to expect next. We love our beautiful new front yard and have received many compliments on it!

I wanted to use a local company to build a patio, planting beds and a sitting area, one with good references, who would do the work themselves (not contract out) and who could help me design my backyard based on my own clumsy descriptions. Michael was great at listening and deciphering what I had in mind in order to create a backyard that is now beautiful and enjoyable. I appreciated his integrity, his flexibility, his clarity and his creativity. One of the things I most appreciated though was his saying «I’m interested in your project», and helping me understand why some things could or couldn’t be done (drainage, materials, locations). He has a good balance of artistry and practicality, and was responsive to my numerous questions and refinements during our work together. I highly recommend Stone, Water, Tree.

I have used Stone, Water, Tree, initially at a friend’s recommendation several times now. I have never been disappointed. They have done everything from doing some maintenance at a rental, (taking out an old pond and adding a beautiful dry stream bed and trimming a ton of hedges.) Most recently they did all the landscaping, sod, planting native plants and flowers, new bark etc. at a home I had remodeled. They do outstanding work and Michael really cares. He gives you a very detailed quote that spells out exactly what he will do and then will give you options if you want to spend a bit more or less. He cares about trying to use native plants that work for your space and they take great pride in their work. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone and I will continue to use them.
