I think the pizza is delicious. I love a good slice of cheese and they do a good job at it. 3 bucks, thin crust, tomato sauce a Lil on the sweet side but the herbs savor it up nicely.

Went to this place on a Monday night. Had two slices, both were reheated in the oven. They were placed on top of each other, the top piece kinda folded underneath itself and the waitress took her finger and flipped it out, then left us to take our plates. The waitress seemed like she just didn’t want to be there. The pizza crust was soggy to about the middle of the slice, the crust seemed stale and I gave up eating it. Usually in a good pizza place you can smell the garlic, there was not that great garlic smell in this place, kinda smelled like old cheese. Would not eat here again. We had a beer, which was nice and cold.

I remember this pizza place being a little more shabby in the past. Nice, updated, warm lighting with the shiny wood look. The pizza was delish. Got a slice and some breadsticks to go. I enjoyed a slice called Red on Red or something. Gooey Mozzarella mounds on top, cheese, and red sauce — a generous slice and breadsticks were pretty big, too. All the slices on display were ample. They serve microbrew beer for $ 4, 10 ounce though, nice selection of local beers. Friendly and Quick. Great for people watching on Belmont if you decide to sit at the window counter.

Super excellent thin crust, NYC style pizza here. Cooler than thou staff keeps things lively. Just heard side one of weezer«Pinkerton«album followed by failure«fantastic planet». Keepin it super 90s! Maybe they’ll play some Tool if I hang out long enough.

Sadly to say I was not impress. I came her in hope to find pizza similar to what I had last month in New York. Sadly they were like any other pizza place you would find in Portland that sells pizza by the slice. Service was horrible. I ordered a slice to-go and all she did was give it to me on small piece of foil no paper plate. She did not seem like she was having a good day. Needless to say my piece of pizza was flopping with toppings falling off as I was trying to eat it.

It’s good, but it’s really not«straight from NY». It’s sort of NY. It tries. It scratches an itch, mostly. However, the crust is too thick, the sauce is too sweet. The cheese hardens too quickly. If you want the real deal it’s in a convenience store at Giant’s NY Pizza.

Favorite Pizza in PDX! Never ate in, always pick up to go, although parking nearby is not so great sometimes. It is certainly a Brooklyn/Manhattan style pizza, large flat pieces. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive, although it’s a bit more expensive than you can get in NYC, naturally.

A nice slice, but these guys are jerks. Last time I went, there was no pepperoni so we asked when there would be more. The counter staff was really rude and said they were out/didn’t look — but then it came out right as we sat down. Then last night we were there and they played Highway to the danger zone on repeat(6 or 7 times before we couldn’t take it anymore) — as a passive aggressive way to get people to leave. We asked what was going on with it and they were super rude and dismissive. I give up!

Very very average pizza. The by the slice options are always very limited and plain. The cashier barely talks to you. Been here twice, same experience both times. There are much better options close by, like baby doll.

Your average pizza by the slice joint, decent pizza and cheap beer. Unique pies sets the place apart from other places nearby, the pesto pie is delicious. Nice atmosphere, friendly employees and a great patio. If I’m in the neighborhood I try to stop by.

Good deal, good specials, inexpensive beer. The 10oz draft Rainer that comes with the plain slice special is great. The pizza has that NY feel but not exactly that NY taste but who am I to say? I only grew up there. The wife really liked the pizza. The décor is standard pizza parlor feel. The workers were friendly. All in all a decent place, just not my first pick for pizza

If you’re craving NY style pizza this is the place to satisfy it– and at a good price. Ppl are always friendly and the selections are varied. They have gluten-free and vegan options, though that’s normal for Portland I suppose :)

The best place for pizza slices in SE Portland, and I have been to them all. The pizza here is authentically NY-style. The slices are delicious, inexpensive, and are actually quite large — larger than nearby competitors. Major bonus points for the large assortment of hot sauces at your disposal on every table. Great happy hour discounts as well!

Great pizza! But horrible service. Employees behind the counter looked and acted like being there was the worst thing on earth. I get it… summer in portland, nobody wants to be around pizza ovens… but at least fake it a little bit. The girl behind the counter got annoyed when I asked what kind of pizza the ‘pizza by the slice’ was. Geez… sorry! Maybe they are going for that cranky east coast vibe ;) Other than the people, the pizza was awesome!

We came here before a movie at the Avalon Wunderland and we were not disappointed. The slices were large and quite tasty. It is thin crust so you have to like that to enjoy. It’s not very greasy at all which is a plus. I can’t compare to anything New York as I’ve never had but is very good from my Portland pizza experience. The inside is okay. It is kind of small and if there were a lot of people i suppose would be quite crowded but it wasn’t for us. They had a special of two slices and a drink for only 7.50 while we were there. Overall i would say a great place to get a slice of pizza!

As someone who used to live in New York, it’s nice to see a place that does a good job replicating NY style pizza. There is a surprising lack of good pizza in Portland, and I’m happy to find somewhere that does a good job. I got two slices of pepperoni and a PBR and my total came out to nine dollars. A tad high, but they have a lot of specials throughout the day(and on weekdays). The pizza was super greasy and required a napkin to get all the grease off, but it was delicious. It reminded me of my late night escapades going to dollar slice joints in Lower Manhattan after a long night of drinking. The crust was my favorite part, and it’s what separates authentic NY style pizza from others. My only major complaint about this location is that it is not air conditioned, and I went during a very hot day. I was drenched in sweat after only a few minutes staying inside, and I can only imagine what it’s like for the employee’s behind the counter or in the kitchen. I’ll be back though, and I want to go to their SE location to check

As far as late night pizza spots in Portland, SFNY is the jam. $ 20 for a large can’t be beat, they’re open ’til 3am, and the people are cool. The pizza legit tastes like NY, fold-to-eat, oversized slice goodness!

Straight from New York is by far the best slice of pizza in Portland. Their pizzas are huge, tasty, and totally satisfying. We tend to go with classics like cheese, pepperoni, or Hawaiian, but their more heavy topping pizzas are just as fabulous. Great selection of beverages with half a dozen taps and bottle options for hard cider. The Laurelwood Red seems to be a mainstay. The seating can be a little tight when it gets busy, but the covered outdoor seating with enormous heaters provides a perfect overflow area. The outdoor section is either extremely well maintained or they have recently updated. It has a cabin like feel and the picnic tables are much larger outside than the tables the dining room which makes it perfect for a large family or group. If you are a pizza fanatic and have not tried Straight from New York, put it on your list asap! You have not had a real pizza until you have had a slice here.

HUGEPIZZA and great deals. If I lived in Portland and worked in that area you would find eating their lunch special every day. The pizza is just so phenomenal. Thin simple crust, tasty sauce, and SOMUCHCHEESE. Watching the cook make the pizza is amazing! Just try guessing how many double handfuls of cheese they use on each pie. They offer 4⁄5 beers on tap, three anthem ciders to choose from, wine, etc. this pizza lover needs some cider! Ample seating for a pizza joint. Very delicious and worth while when you get that pizza craving.
