I give their tea and customer service 5 stars. I can’t understand why a high end tea shop would use plastic brewing devices. It’s literally impossible to manufacture plastic without a molecule that resembles estrogen(BPA, BPS, etc). These ‘weak estrogen’ molecules are impossible to contain and always leech into the liquids of the container. Research for yourself! Why the owners of this particular establishment didn’t spend an extra $ 50 for glass or ceramic is beyond comprehension in this day and age.

I love this place! It’s so cute and simple. Only tried their bubble tea here and they only have a few flavors. Settled for the Hong Kong and matcha milk tea & they were both delish! Not too sweet and not to mention it’s so adorable in the mason jars! Im a big fan & will definitely be back to try other stuff

Dang I had such high expectations for this place but this one experience won’t discourage me from coming back and trying new things! I came here to do some wedding planning with my cousin and I got their HK style milk tea with boba and she got their lavender milk tea. I’m not a big fan of whole milk and I’m not sure what find of milk they used but it tasted pretty fatty. I did really enjoy the lavender flavor of it though. The HK style milk tea wasn’t my favorite and it had an interesting taste. This is the 2ndHK style I’ve ever had so I don’t really know how to judge. I will come back for sure and try their london fog or matcha milk tea and maybe after that I’ll change my review because I wasn’t blown away with my choice this time around.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon, and it was packed! Thankfully I was just coming in for a drink to-go on my way downtown. Tea Bar is a cute tea café — clean, bright modern open space and drinks can be served in mason jars!(always extra points for that :) There’s smaller tables for groups of two or four, and then a larger table in the back for a larger group of maybe ten people or so? Good hang out or meet up spot in my opinion! Plenty of free street parking around the area too which also makes it convenient. I got the black assam milk tea because they use honey to sweeten versus regular syrup sweetener for other drinks, and it was really good! I could actually taste the difference, and I enjoyed the lighter flavor of this black tea. I’d get it again probably, but after trying out some other teas first. I want to say there’s around forty different teas/drinks offered here so it might take a while to find out what your favorite is :) Tea Bar: you’re my type of bar, and I’m a fan!

This place is great if you want to pretend to live in a Kindfolk magazine. The space is light and airy but I felt like it lacked personality and comfy chairs. I went on a Saturday afternoon. It was packed with people using laptops. We had to wait for a table to sit down at. The tea was good. I had a tea latte and it was tasty. My biggest problems are how«hipster» it is and the lack of food to go along with the tea. It just lacks the cozy I hope for when going out for a cup of tea.

I live around the Bay Area and boba is very popular! I loooveeeee boba, so I had to give this place a try! This place is very clean and modern. I really like the bar set up. I really like how they make their tea fresh. You can watch them make your drink if you are sitting at the bar. The barista will brew the tea, add in the boba and etc. I ordered the Matcha and my friend ordered the Cocoa Cinnamon. The Matcha was very light and subtle in taste, not so strong like how I’ve tasted it at other places. You can usually tell when places use powder or not. I wished the Matcha was a little stronger in this drink, but it was still good. I drank my drink pretty fast because I was afraid that if the ice melted, my drink would’ve been watery and bland. The Cocoa Cinnamon was pretty good too. It’s a little more on the sweeter side. The boba was nice and soft.

The Best place on earth! Very clean. Great atmosphere. Very chic and modern but still on the cozy side. My second home pretty much.

We had the Lavender and Hong Kong style boba. The lavender one was SO good. Some of the best boba I’ve had. The café is also in a nice, open indoor space. Will definitely return!

This is probably the best place to get your boba fix. The environment is mellow and chill. Vanilla Rose boba is probably the best boba I have had so far. The boba is FIRE

The simplicity of this place makes it so hip. It has perfect lighting, a laid back atmosphere, succulents all throughout the shop, and tea served in mason jars — who wouldn’t fall in love with this place?! The service is quick and friendly, and there’s plenty of seats that make this place an ideal space to both study and/or catch up with friends. My friend and I ordered the lavender and jasmine boba. Although I do think that the amount of milk slightly overpowered the taste of the tea, the consistency of the boba was the perfect balance of chewiness and firmness. If ever in Portland again, I’d definitely come to Tea Bar again. As a boba shop that differentiates itself from other typical boba places, this place definitely knows how to mix it up(if a good way, of course).

Stopped by here yesterday(12⁄31) with my friend because we were craving boba. Growing up in California, we are used to having so many places to get our boba fix. After my friend moved to Oregon, he told me that he wasn’t having much luck finding any good places. So when we decided to head up to Portland, we were pleased to find this gem. The place is simplistic with tons of seating area. The workers are friendly and attentive. I got the vanilla rose boba and my friend got the lavender boba. I really liked my drink. The rose flavor was subtle and didn’t overpower the vanilla. If I am ever visiting Oregon again, I am more than willing to come back here and try their many other drinks available and maybe try out a couple of their desserts too.

Super cute and trendy shop with delicious refined boba tea drinks. The interior takes the minimalist approach and the design is perfect for all the pictures you will be taking; can you say perfect lighting? We ordered a peppermint milk tea and Hong Kong style milk tea with boba in both to-go. The drinks were prepared carefully but promptly. The flavors were bright and the texture was smooth without grit. The boba was too hard or too soft. Both were so dreamy to sip on. There might not be as many options for drinks and add-ins like other boba shops, but this ain’t your average boba shop. This is a more sophisticated take on the beloved drink and I’m into it.

The teas are really good here, and so is the atmosphere. I love the London Fog latte, and the HK milk tea is 4⁄5. But the boba is undercooked and the furniture isn’t ergonomic. Sitting at the chairs puts the tables at above arm level so I have to hike up my shoulders to type. Pretty much the only way I could use a computer in this place is to stand at the counter. I’d go back to grab a tea to go, but not to stay, and not to have boba.

I love the simplicity of this bar. It feels airy and zen but at the same time, a bit too sparse. There’s a lot of empty space. My friend and I stopped in here for boba at the end of our trip. I had a hot lavender milk tea with boba and she had the cold vanilla rose milk tea with boba. We grabbed a spot at the bar and our boba drinks came in adorable mason jars. The lavender milk tea was very nice and surprisingly, not too sweet! It’s a delicate flavor. This spot has a smaller tea menu than many other tea shops I see but overall, it’s a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

The biggest thing I love about this place is the atmosphere and ambiance. It’s so simplistic and minimalistic that it’s a great place to take pictures if you’re into that. As for the drinks, we ordered the iced taro boba and the Hong Kong style iced tea and a tea cake. My friends didn’t enjoy their drinks as it wasn’t sweet enough. The tea cake was pretty good though! What lacked at this place was the service, it lacked. The woman taking our order seemed so annoyed we didn’t know what to order, it was our first time there and we had no idea what to get. She could’ve at least gave us a suggestion or two. It took them quite awhile to get our drinks to our table– I felt as though they need to figure out a better system to get people’s names or give them a number. It just seemed disorganized and the servers were confused as to what we ordered. They failed to give us our tea cake and I had to go to the counter, she finally got it out to us– but with no utensils. I was just baffled at the fact as something so simple definitely didn’t cross their minds. Anyways, maybe I’m too critical, but for as many people that go through this place, they really need to figure out a better way of getting drinks out to people, sorry!

I discovered this place after one of my feast ventures next door at Podnah’s. Tea always helps, especially after a full stomach of heavy comfort food. Excellent interior, minimalist décor style. Absolutely zen-like, the selection of natural colored embellishment totally facilitates a great place to zone in and/or to space out. I went for a matcha boba to promote the digestion of my loaded stomach. The tearista at the counter was super friendly and even checked if I have any lactose intolerance. They have soy, almond and coconut substitutions. When it’s busy, it might take awhile until you get your drink as they prep the tea in a traditional way using tea bowls/whisks. Grab one of the design magazines they provide and take a seat. The matcha boba was delicious, not too sweet. You can definitely taste the quality. On the contrary, I wasn’t impressed with the tapioca pearls as they were a little dry on the inside. I’ll take a latte next time. Open a location closer to the city please!

Really cute place. I enjoyed spending a couple of hours just relaxing. For the matcha boba, the drink itself was pretty good. The matcha flavor shines through more because they add less milk and sugar compared to other places. However, the boba themselves were really inconsistent. Some where soft, chewy and nicely cooked. Others were undercooked and hard in the middle. Usually boba is cooked in large batches so weird that the boba in my drink were that varied. I recommend doing without the boba. I was told the drink for the matcha boba = matcha shake so that is the way to go!

I dig. I most certainly dig. I’ve been very eager to visit Tea Bar because a) I’m a big tea lover and b) an even bigger boba tea lover. Tea Bar has been popping up everywhere on my Instagram and Snapchat feeds. I just had to visit this place. The lounge is tres chic. Love the simplicity of everything — basic and clean. This would be a great place to study and get some work done or catch up with a good ol’ friend with their intimate arrangement. I was greeted by a friendly employee(I think she could be a manager or one of the owners?) and she was super great and knowledgeable. I explained that it was my first visit and she happily explained to me what they offered and what the most popular drinks have been. I went with the 16 oz. Matcha boba tea. I ordered it for here so that I could drink it from the popular mason jars I’ve been seeing from the aforementioned social media feeds(you have to do it at least once). I was also hungry and was convinced to get a muffin — the Banana Chocolate one to be specific. It was most certainly moist and also gluten-free! Great service and delicious food and drinks! I can’t give this place a full five stars though. I normally don’t like boba pearls. I wish they had alternative jellies to replace the boba — especially for those who aren’t the biggest fans of them. Another bummer was the price. I can’t justify paying $ 5 for a boba tea every time that I want to go there. They don’t use any powders though, so I can see why their price is higher than any other boba tea shop you visit. You can definitely taste the quality and I’m okay with coming here on a semi-regular basis. Overall, a great experience and I loved drinking my boba tea out of the mason jar so much that I splurged on buying one for myself! They currently are selling them for $ 12 and I think it’s a worthwhile purchase for all of my cool drink needs.

I’m a little bit obsessed with this place. The space is beautiful. The décor is totally up my alley. Lots of white and wood. Great place to read or study. They serve tea, tea lattes, chais, steamers, kombucha(by cup or bottle) and boba(only on weekends at the moment). As for milk alternatives, they serve: coconut, almond, and soy. My personal favorites are the London Fog latte and the Matcha latte/Matcha boba with almond milk. They use a traditional tea whisk to make the matcha drinks instead of just shaking it like Starbucks would. Right now they are testing their boba drinks– tea with tapioca pearls in them and only serving them on the weekends. They have three kinds: Matcha, Hong Kong Style, and Lavender. They use high quality loose leaf tea, raw sugar, and unprocessed ingredients. If I lived nearby, I’d be here all the time!

Tea Bar is magnificent! The simplicity/minimalism in the décor, the abundance of awesome magazine reads, not to mention the phenomenal prep and use of quality ingredients. I felt as though I was stepping into a scene from a Kinfolk magazine page. If I were a PDX resident, I would definitely be a regular with a resident table to call my own. Prices are doable and worth it with the check-in promo. I was never a fan of Earl Grey but the London Fog was spot on! Hallelujah, I’m a convert. Ooooh so delicious. Get this. Of course, when available, I must also get my matcha latte fix. This did not disappoint either. Oh how I wish and hope for Erica to open a shop in the Bay Area in the near future… life would be perfect. Give Tea Bar some loving y’all. A lot of love and thought was put into creating Tea Bar as well as the menu items. Great atmosphere, great vibes! Pristine.
