Is it a store? Is it a bar? These were the thoughts that went through my head when I entered this place. Basically, it’s like a beer store that you can drink at. The prices of the beer seem comparable to any beer store, but you don’t have to wait until you get home to open that bottle of suds, you can do it there! In all honesty, this is one of the coolest beers bars I have ever been to. Cheap, beer-snob cozy, and great selection of beers.

Big fan of Beermongers! I had the opportunity to go here on our last trip to Portland at the recommendation of a friend. Not only do they have an incredible bottle selection and a great group of beers on tap, they were incredibly accommodating in letting us bring a few beers and some food in to share. We were incredibly impressed with the quality of the selection there as well as the service, and I’m looking forward to going back next time we’re in the area!

The clientele is beer-savvy, educated, and genteel, as are the bartenders. A very comfortable, nooky kind of place where you sample world-class beers, have a chat, or take in a game. One of my all time favorite places.

Casual neighborhood joint with so many great beer selections. Knowledge of owner great on all and perfect guidance for tap pour. Nice afternoon spot to bring client for chat or buddy to view some soccer.

This place is awesome. Really good beers. Good service. Good location. And so far open 6 years and six days in a row. Great bottle selection. Apex across the street is overrated. It’s okay honestly. But this this place, a hidden gem.

This place is pretty small and cozy. They only had about 7 beers on tap but they have SO many cans and bottles. You can purchase beer to take with you or enjoy it there at a table or booth. The staff were helpful and friendly and the beer was VERY inexpensive.

600 bottles of beer on the wall… 600 bottles of beer… you take one down, and pass it around… still 600 bottles of beer on the walllllllllllll! Ok technically they’re not on the actual wall. But Beermongers has a huge selection of craft beer available, even the pickiest of the picky will be able to walk out with something they fancy.

Beer, they haz it. 4.5 stars for the overall selection and knowledge. Not quite perfect — they could really stand to have more taps but that’s just my dumb opinion. I mean, if you can’t find something among the huge bottle inventory to sate your thirst, you’re in the wrong town. There isn’t much in those coolers that I wouldn’t drink to the last drop, mmm k? The staff are very helpful and if they’re busy there’s someone sitting nearby who can probably help or comment on the beers you’re considering. It’s a little worn, with a nice feel of your local corner store without the usual riff-raff panhandling out front or lotto ads. And the location is just perfect for bus beers, if you’re adventuring on division or even Hawthorne it’s very accessible.

Ok… so this is Portland’s version of Chuck’s Hop Shop. As much as I love Chuck’s, gotta give it to Beermongers for having over 600 beers available for purchase. No corkage fee. On top of that, no tax. They have 8 rotating taps. Personally, I wasn’t too impressed. But the bottle selection, wait a minute this is too deep, too deep(Mariah Carey voice). Super laid-back with friendly bartenders. Definitely a great local place to try obscure/specialty beers!

Great selection of beer. Lively(loud & raucous) crowd, multi tasking & collected bartender. Divey but in a good way kind of place. Not only do they have beer on tap but they have a well stocked selection of beer to go. Worth the visit if you’re a hophead and if not, it’s still worth it!

My word, the beer choices in the multitude of cooler cases. My word, the range of Gluten Free ciders and brews. Your impending summer beer gut just got noticeably larger. That’s ok, your winter beer gut needs a boost ’cause you’ve just been too crossfit obsessed. Come back to beer, it’s waiting for you — right here at Beer Mongers. The sit down space is small, but social and neighborly. The bartenders are talkative, in a very, very good way and seem to enjoy their work. Rare, I know. This is a great package store and if you work your way from top to bottom through just one of the cooler cases, you will be doing awesome work. Go on, take on this project, you know you can. The Masala popcorn has a kick but hell, if you are drinking heavy on a Sunday, it is part of the pleasure. It was nice that they had glasses in 4 ounce increments so that you can taste more of the taps or keep your DUI consumption managed. Pricing could be better suited to the smaller sizing, if I order half a pint, I would expect to pay half the price. Didn’t seem to be the case. But that is my only pseudo complaint.

Great vibe & atmosphere. Decent tap selection with some really good beers. Pretty busy on a Saturday night, and the line for a drink was pretty long, but this is a solid place to toss back a couple.

We were early for our reservation at the vegan place next door. My Mr. is not quite to beer nerd status but he is gaining on it. He coerced me into checking the place out and I am glad he did. Now this is not a fancy, uppity, or hipster place. It is a hole in the wall bottle shop with about 15 tables filled with beer and adult beverage nerds, sportos, and regular type folks. We are not regulars and I thought everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We dropped in at the right time because they were having a cider tasting. The sad thing is that we could’t purchase any of the winning cider to take home with us because they were sold out. We felt very at home here and would certainly come back to hang out with these friendly folks and beer aficionados anytime.

Have been going here for a while and love the place. Which is why I want to talk about the people before the beer, which is top notch, The place is small and the beer tenders friendly & knowledgeable. Customers friendly too – stranger i had a slight conversation with, beer geek that i am, bought a larger bottle of most tasty belgian and shared some with me. The beer. Only 8 taps but a more broad & eclectic spread is hard to find(maybe Saraveza.) If there’s a Block 15 beer on tap drink it. Good options as to size of your beer. And charging no fee to open a bottle from their excellent selection, is something other places(Belmont Station?) should adopt.

They favor the locals that come in. If you are not a regular, they will treat you differently. Other than that its an OK spot. Not many taps got beers Togo. Only come here if they tapping something special. PARVIS like its your birthday.

This is my go-to beer spot in Portland. A few reasons why I really love Beermongers: — 450 bottles to choose from plus 8 taps — No capping fee for enjoying bottles at the shop. That means you can enjoy a beer there for as little as $ 2(and something way better than PBR at that price) — Outside food welcome. I love carrying in Los Gorditos burritos from across the street. Double Dragon is also tasty. Beermongers is a very laid back place where you can just hang and casually enjoy beers with others. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Great little neighborhood bottle shop with a huge selection of all Sorts of beers. I like how the beers are arranged by type, makes it so much easier for me to find my IPAs! They also have taps to enjoy a beer and hang out for a while. We had one and done because it was one of several places on out beer tour of Portland. If you are looks for bottles stop by here!

Tiny spot(although it doesn’t seem like it at first) but there was something about this place that I really liked(aside from the beer, of course). The bartender was great & attentive on an busy Tuesday night. Despite the large crowd, he did make it a point to check on us frequently where most bartenders who are busy would not. The beer selection is very impressive. Aside from local & regional craftbeers on tap, their bottle selection was equally impressive with a wide range of California beers not typically offered in Texas where I live. I had a great IPA from AleSmith that I probably wouldn’t been able to have otherwise. They also let you purchase anything from their bottle shop to take home!
