Came here for our stay in Portland. The first time we tried it was sorta busy and the bartender was fairly inexperienced so I’ll give em a pass. We got our appetizers before we got our first drink. Anyways, we came here on valentine’s day, and the bartender, Jordan, was cool as shit. He made excellent beverages for us. I had a couple«Craigslist» dirty martinis and my gf had some concoction with tequila, lemon juice, and orange juice and they were all really good. Give Jordan a big tip if you see him. He’s a good bartender and I’m a little buzzed and it’s his fault.

Not a bad spot with a cool cozy environment. They are open early for coffee/tea, and they serve some Starbucks items. You can pick up some fruit, oatmeal, or a breakfast sandwich. They have a decent variety of items for lunch and dinner. The food is just okay, and yes, it is a bit overpriced, but in my case, it is close to work so I don’t mind as much since there is not much variety in the area at odd hours of the day/night. The staff has been pretty friendly and the take out is pretty fast too.

Over a 3 day stay we had both lunch and nightly nightcaps here. This Marriott experiment with a greatly expanded bar selection with multiple bourbon and whisky selection is awesome. The bartenders knowledge of their products and production techniques made it an enjoyable conversation as well. We love our bourbons and trying a new one daily over a single tennis ball size ice cube turned it into a tasters delight. I am very excited to learn Marriott is expanding this to their chain. Lunch was good and easy. Sam, our waiter, not only split an order of really good pulled pork sliders but also got us started with a tourist recommendation map and shared his favorites.

I had the chips which were nice and crispy. I also had the BBQ ribs which were delicious and last night, I had the tacos with guacamole, salsa, and rock shrimp! The servers were super-friendly and quite efficient! Tasty tidbits!

Having wandered quite far looking for a place to eat and drink, we ended up back at our own hotel and were very pleased with drinks and food. It is comfortable, service was great and so was what we ate and drank. I don’t remember what Husband ordered to drink, but I am sure it involved Bourbon. As for me, I love that Marriott’s give a 9 oz. wine-pour option, and this gal was grateful for a decent chardonnay which is not the norm in this part of the country. We shared a Caesar salad(yum) and a nice flatbread. Topped it off with a mini dessert which was quite yummy. Got a kick out of the«Eat Fat» book that was on the bookshelf next to us as we dined. Found it encouraging… hah!(see pic) Totally nice way to relax before turning in upstairs!

I don’t usually care for lobby bars in hotels, but we had a quick and friendly server and very decent food at not painfully inflated prices. I had a chicken ceaser and it was spot on. Just right. Enough to make me full. Nothing special about it, but I wasn’t looking for something special. I just wanted fresh food that works and before I became famished. While you got some of the height and elegance of the lobby it wasn’t terribly loud and it didn’t feel like you were in Grand Central. It actually was an enjoyable place to have a decent meal without having to brave the city and find someplace or feel locked in your room with Room Service.

Happy hour staff and menu is wonderful. Staff is friendly and attentive! The menu varies from burgers, to salads, to deep fried choices, to charcuterie plates. Been here a few times over the last months, and I’ve never had a bad afternoon/evening. My favorite? Pretzels and cheese. Or maybe the plate of edimame. Yum!

It’s busy here in the morning when the bar turns into an espresso bar. You can get your favorite latte, espresso con panna, or americano. There’s a bagel toaster on the counter to, well, toast your bagel. I actually like the atmosphere better in the morning because, while busy, the volume level of the patrons is far lower than at night. Yes, I do like the quiet while reading a couple chapters before heading out into the overcast outdoors that is downtown Portland. Use this coffee shop as an alternative to the bank lobby Starbuck’s across the street if you want to sit and read. This shop does serve Starbuck’s branded bean.

This place is across the street from my office so I occasionally drop in for lunch. On the positive side, it is rarely crowded which makes it easy to get a table or booth to conduct business. I don’t eat here often though because of the drawbacks. First, the menu is not very interesting and everything is overpriced in my book. This is Portland and we tend to be foodies, especially downtown and close in. We want to be proud of our restaurants and expect something above mediocre. I realize this little bistro is inside a hotel chain but you’d think the Marriott would want to step it up. As a vegetarian, I think the menu is very, very limited. I ended up ordering their Portland Bello Sandwich($ 14) and what a disappointment that was. The sandwich consisted of a bun, some cheese, a grilled portobello mushroom, wilted arugula, guacamole from a package, and another patty of some kind that I swear I’ve gotten at Trader Joe’s before. To compliment this $ 14 sandwich I got a few pickled green beans and a pickle. My lunch guest ordered«Street Tacos»($ 15) which consisted of 3 «tacos.» Again, completely overpriced for Portland. Given the price point, I don’t think I’ll be back.

Brand new space in the corner of the Marriott lobby. The menu is impressive and contains an item Bacon, Bacon, Bacon. Wow.

Well this is a nice surprise! We were heading to Champions for a nice post-practice Bloody and some grub and we find THIS. Brand spanking new lobby bar. The place isn’t unique — it’s tastefully lit, with modern design and dark woods. Pretty much the model of lobby bars, complete with lounge. What distinguishes this Lobby Bar is top notch service and some really good Bloody Marys. And their Bacon Bacon Bacon appetizer is something you have to experience. Our waiter was totally on top of everything, which is no small feat for a newly opened bar. He even had the hot tips on where to park in the neighborhood for cheap. Will we be back? Well, if it’s true we’re a drinking team with a bacon problem, I think that’s highly likely.
