I wanted to share my experience about living at The Union Apartments at 304NE Multnomah Street. I hope this review helps you to consider this apartment complex especially if you are from out of town and are confused about location and management options. Given the newness of this complex, I wanted to give you a candid opinion to consider. We have found the management staff to be very responsive and thoughtful. The Community Manager, Megan, is great at following up and taking care of things as soon as you report them. My husband is older and we asked if it was possible to have a secure railing in the bathroom shower, Megan had it installed in a few days. They have been great with packages. We have not had any issues with the staff at all and find everyone quite attentive and pleasant. The Union is a brand new apartment building so if you like water efficient toilets, faucets and stainless steel appliances, you will enjoy using the appliances. Being new to Portland it can be very frustrating dealing with daily traffic jams, so we are glad to live close to all public transportation options, as we downsized to one car. Just a few steps from the Max light rail, Portland Street-car and bus stops; not to mention the proximity to the Oregon Convention Center and Moda Center home of the Portland Trailblazers basketball team. We are currently not a pet owner, but many of our dog friendly neighbors seem very happy with the proximity to nearby waking areas and The Union has a heated dog washing station on the first floor. We do have a bike and use the free secure bike room. We currently have a second floor unit with a great view. Even on a rainy day we are happy to look out our floor to ceiling windows which also include mini-blinds on all windows. The only really issue could be for light sleepers at our particular location is the Max train as the train runs close to our bedroom, but it shuts down after 11:30 pm and once you get used to it, you’ll sleep right through it. Remember if you are interested in living in a large urban city there will be noise. This is an extremely clean and safe building a regular cleaning service maintains the common areas by the elevators, community room and fitness center. Secure access keys are required for all door entry into the building and parking garage. We have felt extremely safe living at the Union. We believe The Union is a new and desirable place to live, it’s well situated, close to everything, safe and clean. I would recommend The Union and will consider renewal. Hope this helps.

**AVOID** **AVOID** **AVOID** Bottom line: completely unprofessional, left hand doesn’t know what the right is doing, undertrained leasing agents who misrepresent the property and their policies. Pay attention to my rating curve, I don’t give a lot of one star reviews, so all the more reason you should pay attention when I do! AVOID this property at all costs! You’ve been warned. Nightmare food– this place. The details of my most horrific experience(in case you’re wondering): so… I’m staying in Salem with family after having moved back to Oregon. I’m super busy and travel all over the Pacific NW, therefore scheduling time to visit potential properties is a pain and I must plan for significantly in advance to make room on my calendar. I found this property online, seemed nice and sparkling new and in a great location and they claimed to be dog friendly(ha). Since I own a Great Dane and don’t want to waste any one’s time, I specifically asked«is my dog on the breed restriction list» I was told no. «Cool, let me set up a time to tour» at which point I was given at 9 am time slot. So far so good. I arrive and the assistant manger gives me a deer in the headlights look and says«are you sure?», I wasn’t expecting you and you’re not on my schedule. She lets me in and checks and finds that I am INDEED on her calendar. She thus tries to cover her ass by saying no one told her. Uh-huh, whatever. Then we’re chatting about my dog, she asks me what I own and I say a Great Dane. She again gives me the now familiar deer in the headlights look and says that they have a weight limit on their dogs(85 lbs). I reminded her that I was specifically told my dog would be allowed here on the phone by her staff and she then covers her ass(again) by telling me it was a temp that told me that on the phone and blah blah blah. I’m pissed at this point but I made time in my busy day to see this property, I say at least show me this place and she refuses to because I’m mad. SHAKEMYHEAD. A complete catastrophe all around. Unprofessional, undertrained, unsupportive… just terrible. Plus the parking sucks around here and it’s expensive relative to their peers and they don’t downward adjust their rents as quickly as other properties when the market droops during the slower times(Jan-Feb). Oh and by the way, I’m an Army veteran and my dog is an emotional support dog. Anyone know the name of good lawyer? Seriously folks… go elsewhere.
