Town and Country Animal Hospital

Town and Country is the best veterinary clinic I have ever experienced. The hospitality they offer the moment you walk in the door should be an example to all businesses. The caring attitude continues with the technicians and veterinarians that take care of you and your pet. Their knowledge and expertise is a great asset and they relay that information to you in such a kind manner. I will definitely recommend Dr. Crawford and Town and Country.

Our Standard Poodle was examined by Town and Country today. Her vet was named Sarah. She was so kind, helpful and caring. I’m glad we chose this vet, it will be our regular place.

My dog s tail always wags when we come. We love it here! The staff is so friendly and they take their time with us.

We have been coming to Town & Country for 5 years and we LOVE it. We moved 45 minutes away and still make the trek. Any time we’ve had an emergency they’ve seen us right away and they really know and love our dog. The staff is welcomibg, knowledgeable and have been at the clinic the entire time.

Was able to get into see a vet on the day my dog needed to be seen by dropping my dog off in the morning. Received a call from the vet to check-​in, twice. Had knowledgable techs answer questions over the phone. Rates were very reasonable. The vets are super friendly and compassionate, presenting several options for level of treatment.

GREAT place and VERY helpful staff. The girls up front even stayed late to help us through all the paperwork of bringing two new to Portland doggies in for a checkup and to schedule a dental appointment.
Dr. is a very nice man whom explains to you what he is doing, going to do, and what needs to be done, i terms you can understand too.

I have used Town and Country Vet Hospital for over 20 years several dogs lives. I would never go anywhere else. Dr. Andrews and his staff are amazing. They are caring, competent and do it all for a reasonable fee. No matter where I live in Portland I would make the drive to Town and Country. I trust them with our dogs lives and we love our dogs like family members.

Michael Andrew DVM spent time listening, and advising on the delicate subject of the aging and the process of dying of a beloved pet who is part of the family. He didn’t make us do a bunch of testing before getting meds, as other vets said they would require. He just helped me to keep our 15 year old dog as happy an comfortable as possible for the rest of her time with us! Thank you Dr. Andrews and staff at Town and Country Animal Hospital! I rarely write reviews, but you earned it.

I’ve been taking my cat Rusty to Dr. Andrew at Town & Country Veterinary Clinic over 7 years and he’s the best veterinarian that I’ve been to in my 25 years in Portland. Dr. Andrew is very down to earth and explains issues in a way that is easy to understand. My cat has had multiple health problems but he still has a good quality of life at age 17. He’s had 3 mast cell tumors that needed to be removed, he has inflammatory bowel disease and pancreatitis. He was so miserable 2 years ago that I would’ve had to put him to sleep but one of the vets who was filling in prescribed prednisolone. That by itself did the trick for a year but then he was miserable again. When the blood work came back Dr. Andrew called and said Rusty has pancreatitis. He prescribed Cerenia which is an anti nausea med for dogs but Dr. Andrew knew that it could be used twice weekly in cats for pancreatitis. It is also thought to help with pain. And the Cerenia did the trick. I believe if it weren’t for Dr. Andrew’s expertise I would no longer have my beloved Rusty. Rusty also had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy but that has remained asymptomatic so far. Rusty is a very special soul and even more so since he was my Dad’s cat and when my dear father passed away Rusty became my kitty angel. Thank you Town & Country!

We have a dog with major skin/​allergy issues. We’ve taken her to MANY different vets because, despite all the expensive tests, no one had been able to properly diagnose and create an effective treatment plan for her.
Her first visit to Dr. Andrews and he knew exactly what the problem was (with NO tests needed!) and started her on an affordable and effective plan. He spent at least an hour with us and actually educated me on the root of her problems. It was amazing. I’m beyond grateful that we found this place and we will never go anywhere else.

I had an appointment with another vet, but I decided to call Town and Country because they seem to have the best reviews and are accredited. Over the phone they were very friendly, and very accommodating. They simply cared about my animal, answered any questions and quoted me for prices and even offered a new client discount.
We passed the place about three times, and the building doesn’t really stand out just look out for the pawn printed sign. They greeted me, and took me in (there wasn’t anyone else waiting).
My cat is a nervous, cautious but very sweet cat. They accommodated him by being very gentle and soothing. I came in with one concern about his re-​occurring symptoms, and they examined that specific part of him. However, when I asked further questions about other symptoms he’s been experiencing that concern me, I wasn’t really answered and sorta nudged off because he is in overall good health. I just wish they would have explained why my concerns shouldn’t be concerns, other than the doctor shaking her head saying he’s fine. I’m an extra concerned pet owner, I know. They had a vet tech explain to me how to administer his meds, and they kept me at ease. The doctor was not Dr Andrews, I believe she works there on weekends.
They gave me up write up of all the costs before they went further, they adjusted it three times and at the end of the visit, it was lower. Their prices are reasonable, considering most vets are expensive. They medication was very expensive, and you could alternative order it online for half the price with the prescription.
I will probably go back here, but I just wish my cat had a more thorough physical examination since the doctor didn’t really spend my time with it. I’m relieved that they were professional, friendly, upfront about the costs and options. I’m sure if I call back and tell them my concerns they would accommodate me, but I guess I’m just simply a worried owner :)

We have two chocolate labs that we’ve been taking to Town & Country Animal Hospital for many years. We have been going there because we find Dr. Andrew to be an excellent vet who is very caring, knowledgeable and excellent at quickly and accurately diagnosing any medical issues. Recently on a trip, one or our dogs became quite ill. We took her to a local animal hospital. A vet examined our dog and did some blood lab work. This vet diagnosed our dog as having a stomach infection and tenderness and prescribed antibiotics and pain mediation. When we asked the vet if anything in the blood work raised any «red flags» the vet said no. The next day we returned home and our dog showed no signs of improvement and began to shake uncontrollably and pant excessively. Because we were very concerned about our dog’s well-​being we decided we needed to take her to Town & Country and have Dr. Andrew examine her. Dr. Andrew reviewed the first vet’s diagnosis and lab report then did a physical exam. Within just a few minutes of reviewing those lab reports and examining her, he diagnosed our dog as possibly having a mass on her spleen. He ordered additional blood work and x-​rays. The x-​rays confirmed his diagnosis and he immediately took our dog into surgery. During the surgery a large mass was found on her spleen. The mass had ruptured and was bleeding. Dr. Andrew performed a splenectomy by removing the spleen and tumor. Without Dr. Andrew’s quick diagnosis and skillful surgery our dog would have died from internal bleeding. Today our dog is fully recovered and doing great. We highly recommend Dr. Andrew and his staff at Town & Country Animal Hospital in Portland, Oregon.

We have been taking our animals to Town and Country Animal Hospital for years. Dr. Andrews is very knowledgeable and friendly. Their prices are very competitive. While so many other vets put a lot of money into things that have nothing to do with the health of an animal (e.g. photos for computer records, fancy paper, color printing, etc.) Town and Country Animal Hospital puts their money into the animal care. If your animal needs care beyond what they can provide, Dr. Andrews will direct you to who can. He has no problem referring you if that is what’s best for the animal.
All of the technicians that I’ve met are so friendly and caring. You can tell that they really do enjoy the animals.
We moved to Oregon City and because we love Town and Country Animal Hospital so much, we continue to bring our animals there despite the drive.

Not terribly long ago we switched to Town and Country Animal Hospital and have to say that by far, of all the veterinarians we have used over the years, Town and Country is top notch.
Our little dog was sick with diabetes and they gave her, and by extension us, the very best of care. The entire staff is a group of animal lovers and extend that same sweet love to their customer’s pets.
I cannot speak highly enough about this clinic and will bring any new pets we get there for the same TLC. Even though our dog died we still felt as though she could not have had more gentle, tender treatment.
The prices are fair and reasonable and we were given options which is nice.
My adult daughter commented that our dog got better treatment than we do at the doctor!

Town and Country is warm and caring, organized, and efficient. Dr. Andrew explains his procedures thoroughly and is sure to give the «why» in what he is doing. We often ask several questions during our appointments and Dr. Andrew approaches our queries with patience, a variety of options, and his professional opinion. He’s so kind and gentle with our dogs — while neither of them enjoy the vet, the experience goes as smoothly as possible. Further, all the vet technicians and front office staff are equally patient, friendly, and demonstrate their passion for animals. We love this neighborhood vet!

Town and County vet is a little cheaper than some others i have looked into. The staff is very nice, and the location on Division is easy to find and has a decent amount of parking spots. The place is clean.
I saw on my bill that they now are charging $ 2 apparently for a bio hazard disposal fee. Probably most offices are now charging for this but I just feel it is too high a price to pay for just a needle to be used, and to be disposed of by throwing it into a container. voila! Now I pay an extra $ 2.00…after I paid the shot fee AND compulsory office visit. I was told they have to pay a fee too on the bio hazard stuff but I am certain they don’t pay someone $ 2.00 for each needle to be disposed of so why should I be charged more than what they (or other offices) would pay? $ 1.00 may even be too high.
I then called Powell vet on SE Powell blvd. to compare, and they charge $ 2.70 disposal, plus their office visits are more, so if offices seem to be able to charge what they want, why not $ 1?

My husband and his family have been taking their pets to Town and Country for many many years. We just started going here when we got our dog in December. We have been a few times for shots and spay and had nothing but a positive experience. The staff is very nice, answers questions and interact very well with our puppy.
Recently we were puppy sitting for a family member. We noticed the puppy was acting strange and seemed to be in some sort of pain. We called them up and the said we could bring her in. They took us into a room right away and the vet was in within a couple minutes. It was sad news for the puppy, but the vet was very caring and explained the situation in a way we could understand. She answered all of our questions and gave us some advise on what to do next. She wrote up a report about the situation for us to take with us and said the owner of the puppy could call her with any questions.

This vet office was so kind and sensitive.
We rushed our kitty to them on an emergency and they jumpped to helping him. Sadly we lost him in the end but DR Andrews and the crew were AMAZING!
We have found our vet for life!

I have been going to Town and Country Animal Clinic for over 20 years. My 15 year old cat Kitty had to have some dental work done. I was concerned about Kitty going under anethesia at his age, but Dr. Andrew reassured me that he would take neccesary tests to make sure Kitty would be alright. He came out fine. We have taken all 5 of our cats in for a variety of illnesses and have had excellent care each and every time. After all these years, I highly reccommend Town and Country.

Town & Country has been where I’ve taken my pet since I got him, which is more than 8 years. I’ve always been pretty happy going there but have noticed that the customer service has gone downhill a bit lately. Front desk personnel assume you know the protocol and are sometimes impatient when you ask questions. They also frequently only have 1 vet in service when they used to have 2 or 3 and you knew you’d get service right away. They also used to be able to fit in emergencies better than they can now. Their prices are fair and the vets are very nice.
