I’ve known these guys for several years and have recommended them for various projects that we don’t take on ourselves. I’m stunned to read the negative reviews from what I presume are the local welfare consuming hipsters that take humbrage to the existence of a multi-generational sailmaking and canvas business that employs local people. I’d suggest that if Stefanie feels that that the building needs a facelift, she should consider ante’ing up some dollars. American manufacturing jobs like the ones provided by Waagmeester Canvas have been going overseas for years. And it’s a small miracle that businesses like this survive in a liberal anti-business climate like the city of Portland. I had to laugh when I read her comments that the business should re-locate. Seriously? And Joe D should respect private property and signs indicating that parking is restricted to customers. He’s probably one of those guys who thinks it’s okay to park in a handicapped spot because it’s «just for a few minutes». If you need canvas work, these guys are competent and first rate.

So friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We came here for an awning for our van and Eric was so great. He was hashing out ideas like an old friend helping with a project. Would definitely recommend.

I find this place a little ironic. The building is ugly, taking up a large block of prime potential Alberta development. It needs a serious face lift not to mention the extremely outdated«security gates» that barricade the«precious»(and totally not steal-worthy) items inside. The employees treat walk-ins like second class citizens. Again, I am confused. This place might fit in better off Columbia Blvd. or Marine Dr. where there are other similar company’s like this… free up the space, already… or at least clean it up and act inviting to customers.
