I have had a hard time finding decent Chinese takeout near my home since the merely adequate place moved out of Bethany. And. They. Delivered. Sigh. Another place(also just adequate) delivers only as far as West Union(we live more North) and Delivered Dish doesn’t really provide much in the way of other options. Wan Q was a place I noticed when it sat forebodingly in the Safeway parking lot. I never tried it. I said«sat forebodingly». It just looked creepy. It closed completely for three years, then appeared across the street in the strip mall tucked between Thai Lily and the good liquor store. I’ve been eyeing the reviews for a couple weeks. Last night we became brave and ordered some basics. But. Takeout. It still looks odd from the outside. They don’t deliver. At all. We ordered: Chicken Lo Mein. Huge box of noodles. Greasy. Lots of tender chicken. Good flavor. B. Potstickers. Small. Tender. Thin dumpling skins. Not bad. 8 of them with dipping sauce. B. Bbq pork with broccoli. The broccoli was bright green and perfectly cooked. Bbq pork was lean and tender but not super flavorful. There were crispy carrots cut in that cute zigzag way. No filler like the dreaded water chestnuts or evil bamboo shoots or Satanic cooked celery. B Sweet and sour chicken. Crispy batter, tender white chicken, not too greasy. Nicely flavored not super goopy or sweet sauce packaged separately. B+ This would have been an A if there were pineapple chunks, carrots, peppers, onions, and more rice. There was one pint of rice for both of these last two entrees. There should have been two. The fortune cookies were good. The phone lady was super nice and friendly. Inside it looked ok. So. Not awesome, but not bad. And a little better than adequate. We will try it again. This is not Bay Area Chinese food which is my prototype. It’s not going to be. But for Beaverton/Cedar Mill area I give it 3.5 stars.

I walked in and noticed a restaurant full of people 50 – 70 years old, I made a joke about a blue plate special. We ordered and two of the three dishes were greasy and bland. The orange chicken tasted like lemon, was tart and well… quite bad. Staff was nice and service was quick, other than that maybe we just picked the wrong items. This will be a one and done for me.

Buried in a strip mall, this is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. The shrimp eggroll is giant and cooked perfectly; the sweet and sour chicken is awesome; general tso and kung pow chicken are both perfect. The staff is very kind and prompt.

Clean and polite but the food is so bland, deep fried and greasy. I know that some people like this kind of Chinese, if your tastes are similar to old white peoples then you should love it. I didn’t. I did like the spring rolls that had sesame seed oil included and the soup was good.

This is VERY good Chinese food. The staff was very friendly. The décor is humble. The atmosphere is nice. The rice is a firm short-grain variety. The portions are very generous.

BESTLOMEINEVER! Seriously, I’ve always loved this place. The egg rolls are amazing, stuffed full of ground shrimp and pork, the egg foo young is to die for, and the chicken fried rice is unbelievably good. Mar Far chicken and even BBQ pork are pretty dang good too. But I had never tried the lo mein because I’m a diabetic. My friend ordered it tonight though and I was so intrigued by the delicious smell I just had to steal a bite from him. Unbelievable how good it was! Smokey, tasty and savory, had no idea lo mein COULD taste that amazing. Now I’m sad my condition means I can’t have a whole order to myself.

Situated in a rather unassuming strip mall next to a liquor store across from Safeway, Wan Q might not look like much, on the outside anyways. But don’t be discouraged! It boasts some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had, period, and at incredibly reasonable prices with huuuuuge portions. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu here. The first time we visited we ordered off of the special lunch menu(Note: Not available on Sunday) where you can choose an entrée and it comes with a generous portion of their pork fried rice(probably our favorite, if we had to choose) and even soup to start. Today, because it was Sunday, we ordered off of the dinner menu and got a ‘set dinner’ so we could try a variety of things. At $ 12 or so per person, you really can’t do much better, as it comes with three large entrees, an equally large appetizer dish, rice, and soup to start. It’s a lot of food, and we have tons of leftovers so that’s pretty exciting in itself. I probably sound a bit ridiculous, but seriously it’s that good. As others have noted, the chefs obviously know what they’re doing and even the hostess is incredibly sweet. We will definitely be back again!(And again, and again, and again). Well done Wan Q!

So so glad its back open. I have been settling for years for more expensive or not as good of food. Their egg foo young is to die for, just melts in your mouth! Fried rice is good, sweet sour chicken & sauce is on point, fried shrimp is crispy and delicious, egg flower soup is sensational. I had wanted a certain type of noodle and the waitress brought some out to me on a plate first to make sure it was what I wanted. talk about going above and beyond! My kids love going here and they remember them from way back which is pretty special to them! This place does not disappoint!

So came late last night and ate in the bar. Ambiance is very divey but I knew that walking in! Was very surprised by the quality of the food! General Tsao’s chicken was really good, perfect amount of spice with a hint of sweet. Chicken seemed to be reasonable quality with not too heavy of breading. My friend ordered the won ton soup and was still raving about how good it was today! The BBQ pork fried rice was decent, not fabulous or bad, just standard. Not as much egg or veggies in it as I like but a reasonable amount of BBQ pork. I have to say overall I was very pleasantly surprised!

We love Chinese food a lot. But honestly this isn’t the place we want to come back for Chinese food. Not authentic Chinese food. Flavorless. Food was mushy. So disappointed

I was a regular at the old location for many, many years. Glad to see them open again. The menu is basically the same. The food is good although not outstanding. Their lunch prices used to be an excellent value but they raised their prices since moving so they are now in the more pricey range. I suppose they know their market but I wish they would resume the ~ $ 5 lunches again. It’s worth a couple of bucks more to see Chi’s dimples though :)

WAN Q ISBACK!!! The other places in the area just weren’t living up to Wan-Q standards in it’s absence, I couldn’t be happier with the return of this local gem. The entrée’s are all well made, I’d say the food is just under Jin Wah quality and right above Taste of Sichuan. You can tell the cooks really know what they’re doing. I had a large wonton soup which is perhaps the best available in Beaverton. I find wonton soup to be an accurate gauge of how good a Chinese restaurant is because even some places that seem authentic can’t even make one properly. The soup broth was very flavorful(not easy to do) and the wontons themselves were glorious, large, and stuffed with lots of meat; kept having to cut them in half. Some other places just have free floating meat and some free floating square noodles in their wonton soup, this always disappoints me. I’m glad that Wan-Q is back so I can go get some real wonton soup. My table also split a few entrées, they were all delicious as well, especially the sweet and sour sauce. The sweet and sour at some places is so sugary that I can only handle a few bites, but wan-q does it right, not overpowering at all. I’ll be back, probably often :)
