I’m fairly certain that if I continue eating at this stand, I will never suffer from kwashiorkor altho truthfully, my stick appendages & bulging belly as I waddled around the Montavilla famer’s market may tell a different story. Little did I know that ordering a $ 5 pulled pork sandwich really entailed a hamburger bun submerged in a sea of tangy smoky pulled pork to be referred to from now on as a «sloppy swine.» While the pulled porked looked more like chopped pork to me but was still plenty tender & altho the saucy gravy was sweet with a little sour it would have been better with some fiery kick IMAO. Tabasco, anyone? As for the $ 1 sides, check out the smoky baked beans. Just don’t get your snoot stuck in the plastic cup trying to suck down every last drop. [Psst. Tabasco!] Next time I’ll take a pass on the $ 1 slice of homemade sweet potato pie. Slightly dry crust, good ratio of cloves, cinnamon & allspice but waaaayy too much evaporated milk. All in all, despite my «sloppy swine’s» lack of heat [tabascotabascotabasco.] my protuberant belly still undulated its way through the rest of the market. The very friendly guy behind the counter can only be found at the Montavilla farmer’s market for now which is good for me or more importantly, my ever expanding gourmand gut.
