Wizard World Portland Comic Con

Went to a few wizard world cons over the yrs… Very disappointed this yr (2016). There were only 5 – 6 booths actually selling comics. The rest of the booths were pop culture crap and elk jerky. If you go to comic conventions to actually buy comics, Rose City comicon is the way to go. Save your money.

Haven’t missed it in 3 years, love meeting stars I grew up watching. Do yourself a favor come release your inner nerd!

So, I am here to give a boost in ratings to this awesome convention. Unlike a few people here, Wizard World Portland was my first every comic-​con I came here when it started up about 3 years ago and I keep coming back. I come back because it’s a freaking amazing. True, the first year wasn’t amazing because it was the first time Wizard-​world came to Portland. However, Wizard-​world pulled in some amazing guests, I got to meet several of my favorite actors from the Walking Dead cast because Wizard-​world made it possible. 2015 Wizard world was probably the best of Portland. I went for two days and was able to see so much of the convention. I even got to see Critical Hit and watch the cosplay competitions. I’ve also began taking part in the cosplay community because having a convention close to home has made it possible for me to compete and have a reason to better my skills.
Yes, in some ways, shit is expensive, you have to pay money for autographs and photographs with celebrities, but I’ve noticed that in many ways that is the case for a lot of conventions, and the money doesn’t just go towards the celebs it helps to pay for all the crap that the the W.W. circuit is putting on.
So for those who have been giving this Convention poor reviews, calm down. Yeah, some of you are veterans to the convention scene and have every opportunity to got to comic-​con all over the nation. But my friends and I are stuck in Oregon due to schooling and work, having a Wizard-​World Convention in Portland is one of the greatest things to happen. We get to meet other nerds, celebrities, and even show off our artistic elements via cosplay or through artwork.
I freaking love Wizard-​World Portland Comic-​con, and I hope it continues to come through Oregon for a long time.

The worst price gouging I have ever had the misfortune of encountering. Despite paying $ 50 entry (pre-​pay plus service fee) per person, visitors are expected to pay even more for autographs and photos. Stan Lee was a minimum of $ 60!!! I *kind* of get charging for autographs because of the resale factor, but photos? With your OWN camera? Unbelievable!
I couldn’t help but feel a little pissed at the celebs. We already made them rich with our fandom… can’t we get a goddamn photo with you for free?
On another note, I arrived 30 minutes after opening and there was a 30 minute wait to get in. By the time I left at (at 1:30PM), the place was a mad house. Overcrowded beyond belief. So much so that it wasn’t an enjoyable experience. Not that it was all that great anyway, as the place was lacking in «things to do» and instead seemed a place for people to sell prints of prints.
Waste of time and money. Never again.

Well I’m on the fence. I had a great time all the people that dress up and give nods to the favorite characters make the show awesome. You already pay 40 to get in and then its ridicules to pay for autographs and pictures. We made these people famous just us a break. So anyways it was fun due to all the fans. There are great story board artist too…
