Two workers were very friendly and took a lot of time to answer a ton of questions I had. This is the first bean to bar chocolatier in Portland. Salt and Straw uses their chocolate in their ice cream, even for out of state locations. One of the workers was the pastry chef at Le Pigeon before working at Woodblock. He pointed me towards Reel M Inn for fried chicken, which was an awesome spot. He also said I should try Little T, where I went, and Le Pigeon or Little Bird which I haven’t tried yet. I liked the fruity chocolates, Peruvian and the Madagascar flavors. I bought some of each, and some dark milk chocolate too, as snacks for myself and gifts for my family. Check them out!!!

Woodblock Chocolate specializes in bean to bar, single origin, two ingredient chocolate. The shop is rustic, cozy and offer a great glimpse into their manufactory. The sell bars and whole roasted cacao beans, but my favorite offering are the little discs of chocolate finished with salt and nibs. Crunchy, sweet and savory … I could easily eat my weight in them.
