Matt’s work is awesome. I really appreciate how communicative he is about how long things will take. He does very high quality work at a great price. I’ve taken several guitars to him and each one has come back in amazing shape. I highly recommend taking your guitars to Matt!

I am a professional touring musician and recording artist. I have had guitars set-​up and worked on in probably 20 Cities and 10 Countries over the past 20 years. Matt Wright is a consummate professional, very like-​able and approachable. I bought a couple of mid-​level guitars and he went through them with a fine tooth comb, found a few electrical issues and repaired everything as if I was going into Battle with these babies.
I also purchased two Matt Wright hand-​wired, one-​of-​a-​kind pedals. The Fuzz-​Stang and a custom Super Boost!
Of course I would use Matt again. I would be crazy not too!
Thanks again Matt for giving me great service and for being the type of person that I can trust with my gear!

I’m sitting here playing the guitar Matt recently fret-​dressed and set up and I don’t think it’s every played this well. Incredibly reasonable prices (waaay cheaper than elsewhere), super cool guy, right in my hood, really really really excellent work. I will be bringing all my guitars here in the future.

A great guitar repair person is a rare and welcome find. A great guitar repair person who is honest, reasonably priced, efficient and an all around nice guy is amazing. This is how I’d describe Matt. I had him perform a setup on three of my guitars and one he did some electronic work. He did them back to back and each one came out exceeding my expectations. I feel as if I found an amazing little Portland secret from the discovery of his repair service. I couldn’t recommend Matt enough.

I bring all by basses to Matt for repairs and setups. He’s fast, has great attention to detail and is always reasonably priced.

My 10 yr old Larrivvee DV 09 needed some care. Matt took a look and recommended a fret dressing and a basic set up. He turned around the work quickly. And it was affordable, too! The guitar plays wonderfully and feels brand new. Thanks, Matt! Also, the fuzz stang (a unique fuzz pedal Matt makes is incredible, I’ve seen it used by a couple of friends… dirty!!!)

I have a MusicMan Stingray that I wasn’t sure was going to survive the cut. It was a cool bass with a cool sound, but it just felt… wrong. I got it off of Ebay, and I was just about to throw in the towel and sell it, when a band mate suggested I give it another shot and get it properly set up.
So, I brought it to Matt thinking that if I still didn’t like it, I could sell it, and man, the bass just came alive! It still has that honking midrangey growl that Stingrays are known for, but it feels so much better, the neck and action are softer and feel more worn in. Matt is a magician.

Brought my 70’s P Bass to Matt for a refret and some general set-​up love. Not only do the frets feel amazing, the bass hasn’t lost any of the sweet 70’s mojo it had. The work was impeccable, quick and done RIGHT the very first time. Matt knows his work and is a super cool guy to work with.
I am so happy to have found a local luthier that does great work for an unbeatable price.

Matt is a very knowledgeable and nice guy. His work is as good /​or better than the other guitar repair shops in town, but he is consistently cheaper, faster, and more able to creative problem-​solve than anyone else I have dealt with over the years. He has helped me restore or fix up several basses and guitars, and the results have always been great. I wouldn’t send a friend anywhere else in town.

Been bringing my basses to Matt for a little over a year now; he does excellent setups. Most recently he did a fantastic custom ¼″ jack repair on one of my historically problematic instruments; the thing is bombproof now. Super friendly, reasonable rates, and super-​quick turnaround (I’ve never had to wait more than a few days). Highly recommended!

I first brought my Tele into this shop for a setup a couple years ago at the recommendation of a friend, and I’ll never go anywhere else again.
I’ve had Matt work on all of my instruments since then, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. In addition to doing incredible setups, pickup installations, and fret dressings on my electric and acoustic guitars, he managed to fix my busted E-​bow and resurrect my Jazz Bass from the dead when I thought all hope was lost.
I used to go to 12^th Fret, which was fine, but Matt’s professionalism, attention to detail, quick turnaround, and lower rates made the switch a no-​brainer. I can’t recommend this shop highly enough!
