If you are looking for experience with sound judgment, intelligence for good decisions, excellent sub-​contractors, and dedicated professionalism, I highly recommend Geoff Okarma as your general contractor.
My wife and I could not be happier with Geoff’s work on the single most important kitchen renovation of our lives.
From beginning to completion, Geoff disclosed the issues and costs involved and included our input and his thoughts before all major decisions. This is important since no renovation will go as perfectly planned. There are always surprises, so you need a GC you can trust completely.
For instance, in our early discussions, I suggested using a local 3^rd party cabinet company that is essentially a sales office for various cabinet makers. Geoff was concerned that such sales offices do not have control of the maker so cannot respond on a timely basis if there is a problem in measurement, breakage in delivery, etc. He recommended a vertically integrated small cabinet maker with whom he has worked. That cabinet maker Charlie Feist (Feist Cabinets in Elk Grove) did a wonderful job, on time, and at a fair price. This is the kind of advice you want from your GC, especially since new cabinets are a centerpiece of the kitchen and a large component of the overall cost of a renovation.
Also, you need a GC who is dependable. If Geoff said he would be on site at 8am, he was on site at 8am.
Importantly, the renovation was finished on budget and on time.

The guys from Okarma Construction did an amazing job with an extensive remodel of our kitchen, mud room, electrical system, and HVAC. Geoff is honest, trustworthy, and was on-​site every day of the project. When our cabinet supplier sent the wrong color cabinets, Geoff went to battle on our behalf and got them replaced at no extra cost. The work was done on time and under budget.
