Kroger Marketplace

I’ve never actually shopped for grocercies here because the prices seemed to be a bit expensive for me. I only come here to order my lunch which is soooo good and cheap too. I always order the single breast meal which comes with a chicken breast (baked, Fried or BBQ) and two sides of your choice and a roll. The sides vary day by day, some of the sides Includes mac n cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, blacked eyed peas, corn and the list goes on. The meal I chose today was a baked breast with collard greens and green beans since I’m trying to be fake healthy. The single breast meal is only $ 3.99! $ 4.49 after tax. The self checkout is conveniently located right next to where I ordered my food so I can check my self out and be on my way. I will continue to come here to buy my lunch and that’s about it.

The service has fallen off. I went in recently to buy grapes, they were picked over and small. The store has a policy of saying hello to customers and asking if they need assistance, which is vital seeing as 1) the store is huge and 2) the grocery section has an awkward arrangement. One of the female stockroom employees (Im sure she’s also a manager) whom I know to be particularly rude just walked right on top of me while I was looking for coffee, without saying hello OR excuse me. In just the last month, two of my relatives came back from a visit to this Kroger location to tell me how the manager walked right past without uttering a word and when my grandma needed assistance finding yeast, customer service was vacant. They need to step it up as this is portsmouth, if they cant get it together the locals will have no issue driving the extra miles to the Suffolk Kroger.

I typically come to this Kroger Marketplace on my lunch break so I’m usually in and out within 10 – 12 minutes, my go to spots are the sushi bar, salad bar, buffet & bakery area. The sushi here is magnificent you can have them make it fresh for you or you can choose pre made sushi (which is also fresh) there buffet changes daily some days you’ll find Asian some you’ll days find Indian you never know they also have some bomb bread pudding on the buffet doesn’t look too good but trust me it tastes soo good. They have also expanded their donuts selection with flavors such as maple bacon, cookies & Cream etc.

Love the store, always near and tidy. However the staff since opening has gone downhill. The bakery takes about 20 minutes to get anything and the cupcakes have lost there appeal. (But I need to cut out the cupcakes anyways). Other than that it’s wonderful. The olive bar is great as well as the salad bar. Love the pharmacy, always quick. And today I was able to get 2 pair of gym shorts normally $ 25 for $ 7! Don’t judge a book by its cover, Portsmouth Kroger is on point.

I love to grocery shop here. They have such a great variety of food and fresh produce. They have many hard to find spices and brands. The store is always bright and clean. They have a great selection of meats and deli. Also, the sushi is good and can’t forget the Starbucks.

Clean, nice, and usually pretty empty. Fantastic selection of food, including organic options, and some home goods and clothes if you need something in a pinch. They’ve even got a great draft beer station where you can fill up a growler with some fantastic local brews.
The prices are a little higher than most places, but the selection, convenience, and cleanliness make this my go to. Plus the gas is some of the cheapest in the area, and the fuel points you get from shopping make it even cheaper. You can’t beat sub-​$ 1 gas!

This Kroger is pretty nice. Their produce is almost always fresh. They have a decent health food section and there create your own six pack beer section is stocked well for the most part. Also can’t beat a place with a Starbucks except you can’t use your Starbucks rewards cards there for some reason which is very weird to me.

Love this place! We go here for a quick lunch when the office gets busy. I usually opt for the sushi, which is damn good for a grocery store. I’ve only bought a few grocery items from this location because I live so far away. But my friends who live in the area swear its the best grocery store in town. They always have great deals and the place is very clean.

Whole Foods is like paying for a college education, with that being said, thank God for the market place! Affordable yet it still has an awesome selection of healthy things and wine!

i was a on the self checkout and the lady came and helped me right when i had a question she was very decent and helpful, perfect timing!
The price is amazing by the way! So much cheaper get a lot of variety of things for cheap.

Should have skipped the Buffett and ordered from the Fresh Meals. 1230pm and the food was not as fresh as I had hoped. As a matter of fact, I believe the Chef walked by me as I was in line and never noticed the food. I will try this again just to make sure it’s not an off day. We live everything about Kroger, just not happy with the food quality on this visit.

Lord I feel like I live in Krogers I’ve been in that store all weekenf long. But they have great prices, awesome free sushi samples and just a good olé clean/​friendly atmosphere… Those bag chicken wings are on sale and I’m loving my rainchecks that I’ve been getting for them… Ohhh and I cant forget Starbucks… yummerzzz

The store was very clean and neat, what as great food selection .The employees all where very nice and helful in assisting in finding our selections of various items. I give the manager and workers all fives tonight.

Looovvvve this place!!! They have everything. The people who work here are awesome (unlike wallyworld across the street) i will never go to walmart for any grocery items again!

Heard about it on the radio and just had to go and check it out, I was not expecting it to be a full blown store with everything in it. But this store sure has everything and a little bit more.
Love: The food area and being able to sit there and eat. how cleaver isn’t that?! We knew we were fighting against our daughters eating time and surely she became a little antsy but no problem, we got some food for her. some sushi for us. paid by the self check-​out lane and then started eating. The food was approved both by us and her.
I love all the selection of food and also their selection on organic foods. Although we didn’t buy a lot. only food. and OH Olives! I love olives and love that this place has them by the pound! nom nom nom.
I also of course love that there is a starbucks, any store with a starbucks gets double points in my book (not that I’m addicted or anything).
All in all, a cool place. Just wish it was closer.

I’m in love with more than a grocery store… I am in love with Kroger Marketplace!!! OMG… I mean this location is huge. I would definitely take a day off work and shop here, check out new recipes, sample food and then wash it all down with a frappuccino from Starbuck’s (yeah Starbuck’s is inside too)!!
This was my first time visiting Kroger (any) and I mean if all of them are like this… oh boy oh boy!!!
I had the opportunity to talk with Chef Van (short dark skin guy) and he enlightened me on the seasonings he uses for the baked salmon that was featured on the ‘Chef on the Run’ bar. He was oso friendly and shared that another store is opening soon on College Drive (Suffolk, VA).
I also learned that the Kroger stores are a bit different. While I was wow’d by this location, he said the next one will have a little more to it that this location doesn’t offer. I was like «REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEally!»
I mean I may be a little over the top, but this store just amazed me.
I mean there are stations galore: Asian Food Bar, Wine Tasting, Cakes, Seafood, Meats, Hot Food Bar etc. Check out my pictures why don’t ya!!!
The restrooms were even nice and spacious as well.
Another Elite member shared with me for every $ 100 you spend in the store you get $ 0.10 off your gas purchase. So make sure you get a Kroger savings card. They are free and you can use them all over the store.
In the seafood department, the workers there were super friendly. They happened to bake some fish and fry a few pieces for the passerbys. This was just too cool.
I believe the store closes at midnight… a good hour!
There is a Jamacian section filled with spices… OMG!!! This section alone will bring me back here very very soon!
I even witnessed a customer service representative going above the call of duty! I love those moments… it’s like «caught being EXTRA good»
The gas prices are still the lowest in town…$ 2.65 for regular and anyone is welcomed to gas up!
So once I finished (after 2hours)…I approached the check out lines… such a speedy checkout!!! I went to the self checkout. It’s not like most I have used, but it did not matter because an employee was there to guide me through the screens.
If you love a grocery store filled with many items… definitely stop by here. The isles are still neat and spacious (no bumper carts here). The lighting inside and outside the store is on point!
I must say my first visit was very impressive.

Large, well lit, Marketplace, with wide, easy to maneuver around in aisles.
Plenty of help, and items were in stock. The store was clean, with a minimum of clutter.
Closest (easiest for us to get to) storefront with a Kroger Fuel, so we can finally start to use these points we have piled up (we already use them at our local Shell station).
Recommended.

I walked in here for the first time today. The parking lot was decently cleaned (besides the few carts in parking spots). Before getting groceries I went to the restroom. I noticed the men’s was getting cleaned. The women’s was not that clean, I do think this was due to 3 little children playing in the bathroom, mom was nowhere to be found. I was only getting wine and some sweets from the bakery. I browsed the bakery for 5 minutes before going to the wine section to think about what sweet I wanted to get. To my surprise, a very informative employee came up to me and helped me pick out a bottle of wine to pair well with some of the cupcakes. I went with her selection (which I am now drinking and man what a great wine!) I then headed back to the bakery section and got 4 various cupcakes: maple bacon, coconut, peanut butter and jelly, and chocolate fudge. I love how unique the selection is… I have never tried any of these flavors! All are very delicious. They were reasonably priced as well. I walked around the store before checking out and I could not believe how much stuff they have… including clothes and shoes! I will definitely be coming back!

This place is amazing. It has everything from a gas station to a jewelry store.
The produce section is amazing and I just filled with quality fruits and vegetables. The prices are much lower than Harris Teeter and some of the same items are available. I thoroughly enjoyed walking around all the aisles checking out all of the cool items.
I was able to get a few freebies when they first open their doors. The price of the gasoline is lower than BJ’s and I hope that doesn’t change for a long time.
The staff is very attentive and the service was outstanding. I really enjoyed shopping here because it was very well organized.
I will definitely be back to shop. I enjoy shopping during the week day and the location is awesome and easy to access.

How nice! It is a very large and very well organized place to shop. I stopped by while in P — town earlier and I was very inpressed. Parking seems adequate and things seemed to be rolling smoothly. As stated before, the store itself is huge! There are groceries as well as some other items available for purchase (dinnerware sets, kitchen items, clothing and shoes). It doesn’t reflect the large stock of other items that Walmart sells however I would rather shop here any day than to spend a minute at walmart. The employees were very nice and seemed very excited about the recently new opening. Prices seemed fair for many items. Everything was very clean inside and well lit. Make sure you get a kroger card to save on certain items (kind of like the food lion card and harris teeter VIC card). Overall, a very nice and well laid out store that I plan on visiting more.
