Wow, not what I was expecting. I walked in thinking this place was going to be a cape-town tourist shop with cliché t-shirts and old ladies, But I was wrong! They house all sorts of stones and minerals polished and raw. They also have exotic seashells that are actually pretty hard to find. Although there is a ton to see it has a very zen feel to it. The reading was definitely a plus although a bit expensive. If you have the extra dough its worth the splurge. And if you don’t believe in that kind of stuff do it for fun and I think you’ll be thinking twice when your done! Definitely worth a look, plus the service was great and the price is right.

Hmmm I thought this place would be cool if you were in a decorating mood and you wanted to have a little shelf with a shell collection on it — you know maybe a starfish, sanddollar and a shell arranged in a martha stewart type way. This would cost you about $ 4 here which is how it should be even if it is because you’re too lazy to go the beach and find them yourself. If you want shells, check it out. They also have readings(palm I suppose?) there apparently… I was not involved but I could hear someone else’s reading because it was in the shell room behind a curtain… a little weird and I think I learned too much about this chick’s private life.

When I was a little kid, I was really into rock and fossil collecting. I really had my hopes up when I went in here but it wasn’t all geeky and science-ish the way I had hoped. Every rock had handwritten notes about its unique magical properties(promotes tranquility, eases stress, good for creativity, etc.), the fossil supply was a letdown, and the sea shells were in a separate room and really seemed to be there for the tourists who wanted something from the ocean, even thought Portsmouth is actually on a river. All it needed were tarot cards and a fortune teller. This is someone else’s idea of a rock shop.
