K & D Deli

I wanted to give K&D deli one star but I added another star because their lunch sandwiches are good. Lunch and breakfast sandwiches are quite expensive and I don’t see myself ever going back for breakfast. This morning I ordered a BLT with extra tomatoes and there was almost no lettuce and one slice of tomato on each side. It was like I was eating bacon flavored bread. One of the worst BLT’s I have ever had.

Service was extremely slow. There were only two people in front of me, and it took over 2o minutes. I understand that the sandwiches are made to order, but they need to be able to do more than one at a time.
However, this was not the reason for the 1-​star review. I don’t eat meat, so that narrowed my choices down considerably. I ordered the Magic Garden sandwich which is basically mixed vegetables and mozzarella on sourdough. The sandwich was inedible since she put SO much oil on the veggies, it saturated the bread, the wrapper, and the bag. I tried to eat it since I was hungry, but could barely stomach the few bites I did get down. Would never return.

As a Poughkeepsie native, I’ve been to this deli several times over the years. Today was the last time. The wait was extremely long for a Sunday afternoon. Extremely. The people who work there don’t greet you… They robotically ask for your order. The icing on the cake today was the rude, nasty and unprofessional woman at the register. Horrible customer service; downright mean. She couldn’t be bothered. There are so many other delis in the area, and less expensive. I will never step foot in here again.

This place is absolutely awful. They have messed up my order every single time I have gone there. Then after they make you the wrong thing, sometimes the chicken still tastes like it’s partially frozen on the inside. They charge you an extra $ 1 on egg sandwiches after 11… even though the grill is still on… and it’s still in the AM… eggs cost a matter of cents. On top of that the lady that rings people out is extremely unpleasant. Go to Adams… it’s not even a mile down the road and their sandwiches are WAY better.

I’d recommend avoiding this deli. We went there with the kids excited to try a new place. The atmosphere is nice enough but our experience quickly went downhill; it was incredibly slow, the folks behind the counter were unfriendly (with the exception of one nice girl who apologized for the others), and the food was mediocre at best (the crispy bacon advertised was about the floppiest I’ve ever seen). We were also charged full price for a sub when all we wanted were a couple meatballs for my son. Most Delis sell food like that by weight as well as in sandwiches. Long winded I know, but I signed up for Unilocal just to leave this review. Save your money and eat at one of the many better delis around!

Not a bad deli. I must admit… especially since it used to be a video store. It is pretty big for a deli. I’ve only been there once and my sandwich was very tasty. I have to check it out a couple of more times.

Large deli. Very clean. Sit down/​eating area is great. I had the Mayflower Signature Melt… it was delicious.

After driving home from an amazing weekend. I wanted a sandwich. A good sandwich. A sandwich that wouldn’t remind me that tomorrow is Monday. So, the only place I even consider going in Poughkeepsie is K&D. The service is great, the menu is awesome and place is pretty impeccable. They even have a place to sit and enjoy it on premises. The prices are fair and there isn’t one signature sandwich that I’ve had that I didnt enjoy.
Now I’ve got to find a place in Poughkeepsie that will make me forget its Monday!

K&D is a pretty solid deli. It’s not very close to Vassar’s campus, so I only came when we were driving somewhere, but they made us some very delicious sandwiches when we did come by. There’s also a decent selection of snacks and drinks, and the whole place (including the small dining area) was very, very clean.
