I’m writing this review at 12:30am with a horribly upset stomach and no chance of sleep. Could it have been the awful, stinky fishy smell that hit us when we walked in? Or maybe the stale, cold chinese fried leftovers that they called a buffet? Nah, couldn’t be. I hate being so mean, but mother of god, this was a nightmare. The food wasn’t even on heat; it just sat in the middle of platters, lukewarm at best. I didn’t even touch the sushi — I wasn’t brave enough. I did, however, pick up one of the little dessert muffins, which was so stale it hit the table with a thud when I dropped it. If that’s not enough to tell you how much this sucked, I leave you with this final note: They have a cotton candy machine. And it’s broken. What the f–

This is a great Asian buffet at very decent prices, especially for weekday lunch. Our family has been here three times this year, which says a lot about the service, quality of food and the ambiance for a family of four on a strict budget. We fill our stomachs and leave happy and satisfied. There is a nice selection of sushi rolls like Dragon and Rainbow rolls and some sashimi(salmon, yellowtail, red snapper). Quite tasty and fresh. If you are unsure of what to choose, each sushi tray has a label with the name posted on the window above it. They appear to be the most popular feature of the buffet since it is replenished several times during the lunch hours. There is also Chinese American food and a smaller selection of Amercan food like mac’n cheese for younger diners. We really liked the ice cream cart for our dessert. There was green tea ice cream last time.

Not a large selection of food, rude customers but semi friendly staff. Food isn’t great, not even good — just okay. 20.00 for one person dinner, never again! Not worth it by any means. No wonder there’s never customers here! Sat for five minutes waiting for our change waitress never came back !!!

I like these buffets only because they’re reasonably priced and I can get in and out quickly. Rarely are they better than a 3 star. I would rate them on a few points— service, selections, and hygiene. For selections, I usually take a few item such as peel & eat shrimp, egg rolls, and lo mein. Those are standard items on all buffets and if you can’t get them right, you probably should look for a new cook or vendor. I’m a bit sensitive to MSG so I do realize they put a bit in. It usually helps to accent the flavor and as long as they don’t put too much in, I won’t break into a sweat. The shrimp were the large type(medium-large) cooked firm so they were easy to peel and not mushy. The egg rolls were a bit bland and appeared to be baked and not fried as they typically are. The lo mein was good, but what really surprised me was the shrimp with lobster sauce. Nice job with that. They kept the buffet trays filled and hot. Yes, the plates are below where you have to reach down and they may be under some blue light, not sure if it’s ultraviolet which would make more sense. The sushi/sushimi were very good. I had the yellowtail, eel, tuna as well as their spicy roll. The bathrooms were modern with colored flashing lights and a very modern sink. Quite impressive. I’m not impressed with flashing orange and red lights at the urinal. It can be scary. I had a bit of an issue using a chip credit card as they wanted a pin number which i didn’t have. Ended up using a non chip card.

Was excited to try after reviews. Dismally disappointed. Cons: The food looks slimy, stale, pale, and undercooked. Desserts looked stale, and no chocolate ice cream. Plates are stored on a low shelf close to the ground(rather gross and seems very unsanitary) Bathrooms are fancy but sink water freezing cold with no obvious way to change temperature Expected nicer signature sushi rolls, not fancy California rolls Pros: Décor is fun Sushi was decent No complaints about service

All-you-can-eat Asian buffet with a respectable, fresh sushi selection in a trendy, clean environment. Located next to Modell’s Sporting Goods in Poughkeepsie Plaza, Kido allows you to get in your craving for a mix of fresh nigiri, sushi rolls, and Americanized Chinese food. There’s a main dining area, a side room with a few large tables, and a huge conveyor belt that brings sushi from the chef’s bamboo mat to your plate(this doesn’t always run — it wasn’t moving when I came for a Saturday lunch). Highlights: The sushi is very good buffet sushi. Everything was well presented and there were several types of nigiri(salmon, tuna, egg) and rolls(spicy tuna, spicy salmon, sweet potato, Philadelphia). The taste of the sushi exceeded my expectations for buffet sushi. My favorite item on the buffet was actually the sauteed spicy fish fillets — so delicious I got multiple helpings of them. The vegetables(garlic string beans, dark greens) had good color and were not too greasy. I found the soup station creative — you have a choice between building your own miso or wonton soup. In addition to a choice between pork and shrimp dumplings, you can also add small chunks of tofu, seaweed, and chopped green onions. Sweet and sour chicken and noodles are on par with other Asian buffets. Buffet cleanliness was above average. In terms of environment, lots of colorful lighting and comfortable furniture. The fruit items are fresh and there was a decent selection of desserts spread out over two stations. The buffet has real ice cream instead of frozen yogurt or ice milk. Critiques: I loved the creativity of the soup bar, but found the light miso broth to be a little too diluted. Some of the buffet items also appeared to be overcooked. Overall: Kido Asia Buffet costs a little more($ 10.99 M-F lunch, $ 15.99 M-F dinner) than other local Asian buffets, but the higher food quality well justifies the difference in price. The environment is pleasant and the food is tasty.

Pretty run of the mill buffet but with mucho more sushi options. prob why its called ‘sushi buffet’ a durrrrr! Went on Sunday night and the place wasn’t too packed. I see they have one of those cool conveyor belt sushi thing that I’ve ALWAYS wanted to dine at but it wasn’t on unfortunately. Anyway sushi selection was wayyyy better than any other buffet I’ve been to but I mean in a sense of a sushi plus Chinese fare, buffet. There are legit $ 25 – 30 sushi only type venues I’ve seen that have better fish but you feel me. More than just simple hand rolls– also tempura battered, special rolls, sashimi pieces(didn’t look the best quality/color tho,) seaweed and kani salad; and then the other side has the Chinese dishes and dessert stuff. One thing they need to change asap– why are the dishes on the lower shelves underneath the food trays? Two dishes broke while we were there and I’m sure its bc of the awkward placement. Overall, the food was 3 stars, typical Chinese. Nothing really stood out to me. I would go back again if I was hella hungry and in the mood for a sushi/Chinese fix.

Still getting worse compared when it first opened. The scallops are even smaller & hidden under a thick disgusting layer of cheese. They also recently removed Avocados from lunch menu. This place is really trying lower there food cost. I wonder what they gonna do next to cut cost. Even more layers of Nasty cheese & fake crab meat to get to 1 piece of scallop.

I love this place. They’re relatively new and you can tell they’ve made an effort to appeal to the younger crowd. The lighting and fixtures are much more modern. The variety is fabulous and the quality is some of the best I’ve ever had. If you’re on route 9 this is the place to go. On sundays there is cotton candy for kids. The dessert has lots of fruits, cakes and puddings. If you Ike sushi they can get very exotic here as well.

This place is just A-ok. I might be slightly biased due to having just eaten at an expensive gourmet asian place the day prior, but this place fails to impress. While having good selection(including crab legs and pretty decent sushi), as well having a clean environments, put this place at the higher echelon of Asian Buffet, it is still just that, Another Asian food buffet.

My husband and I just moved to the area and were looking for a sushi place to try. We figured we’d try a buffet since we always spend way too much on our bill. The food was pretty good and pretty fresh. And the appeal of the buffet is taking just one piece instead of an entire roll if you just want a taste or are pushing your sushi limit. :) The Chinese food was a lot better than I’ve had ordered in. I didn’t try any of the meat options though as I’m pescetarian. Cons: –We felt very rushed from the staff. –Dessert left something to be desired, although the ice cream was good. –The canned fruit wasn’t really for me, like the lychee, although the fresh was great, like the mango. –Half of the items weren’t labeled so you didn’t know what you were eating. –We were sat right near the buffets so it was a very loud and high traffic area. All in all, we will definitely go back as the food was great, especially for $ 17 per person. Although we’ll make it a point to sit and enjoy our meal instead of rushing through it, as well as ask to be sat in a booth or away from the buffet.

When I go on vacation or if I drive somewhere different I look specifically for buffets. This buffet was like finding treasure. It is by far the best buffet I have ever been to. The selection is amazing. All you can sushi was excellent. Crab legs were huge and always full. The clams we amazing. I ate way more than I should because I was so excited. I go back to this place anytime I’m driving even remotely close. Love it

The quality of the food for the price you pay is really good. A buffet like this in NYC will easily be $ 26 or more, and considering that I cleared out their sashimi multiple times, I definitely got my monies worth. The sashimi is cut in huge chunks and individually portioned out, but I proceeded to just empty them out on to my plate. The nigiri and rolls were all decent, good rice to topping/filling ratio, but the rice was a bit on the al dente side. As for the hot foods, it was hit or miss with some really tasty dishes(I am looking at you lobster!) to inedible(hello soggy bacon wrapped shrimp). They had crab legs, but they were a bit wimpy looking so I didn’t bother. Quite a few dessert choices with scooped ice cream, cotton candy, fruit, and various cakes. The fresh fruit was good, the canned stuff, not so much. Service was very attentive and quick. They kept our glasses filled and our plates cleared with no issue. All in all, if I am in the area again, I will definitely check it out since you can’t go wrong with a $ 20(including tip) dinner: D

I have to say Kido really hit the spot. Let’s be honest – no one expects high caliber cuisine from all-you-can-eat restaurants, so given the fact, this place totally exceeded my expectations. The food was hot, there was a great selection of sushi, both raw, and cooked(some deliciously deep fried), and the service was definitely better than you would anticipate. Cleanliness is always a concern of mine when eating out, which is why I don’t frequent buffets often at all – I actually went at my sister’s behest. I have to admit, it could have been cleaner. I picked up several dirty plates in search of clean ones, but the establishment itself(including the bathroom) seemed bright and clean. Overall, I’d say better than most. If you feel like stuffing your face for cheaps, do it here.

I am so happy we found this place! Being from Queens, I was disappointed to find out that our favorite buffet place there shut down. The few that are left are disappointing. We recently moved upstate, and just happened to stumble upon this place on a Thursday evening when our stomaches were growling. The price wasn’t bad at $ 16 per adult(children under 3 are free). They have a tank of beautiful red fish, and underneath that is a small open enclosure with koi and turtles. It was a beautiful display and my daughter was blown away, as were we. We were immediately seated at a booth. The restaurant appeared clean and well kept, and it is nicely decorated with colorful lighting. They have a wide variety of foods to choose from. Everything was delicious and fresh, and was constantly being refilled. I was particularly excited to see that they had crab legs, stuffed clams, stuffed oysters, and about 10 different kinds of sushi/sashimi! And for the non-seafood lovers like my hubby, they had delicious ribs, all kinds of chicken, beef, lo mein, rice, dumplings, spinach puffs, and much more. I loved that they had big, fresh pieces of avocado at the salad bar. I asked the friendly sushi chef what everything was, and he was happy to tell me. I asked if they had salmon skin rolls, and although they didn’t, he said he would see if he could make me one. He came out back out of the kitchen with a fresh salmon filet and asked me what else I wanted in my roll. I chose avocado, cucumbers, crab meat and shrimp. He said it was no problem and that it’d be ready in 10 minutes. Sure enough, it was! I got 10 pieces of delicious salmon skin roll made just for me! They were delicious! Everything else I had from the sushi bar was insanely good. I’ve never seen such an array of choices at a buffet. There was nothing I had here that wasn’t delicious. I didn’t have dessert because I was too full, but my husband and daughter did. They had fresh fruit, small cupcakes and ice cream. They enjoyed it. In my experience buffet desserts usually miss the mark, but this place doesn’t. The only complaint is that we found one bad grape… Comparing this to other similar places in the city, this place wins. This is an excellent choice if you are looking or an all-you-can-eat Asian restaurant with a wide variety of choices. The wait staff was attentive, and while they were not very talkative or enthusiastic, they constantly kept checking if we needed a refill on our drinks or needed our plates taken away. All in all this was a very satisfying dining experience that hit the spot! We will be back!
