On a Thursday night, the place was empty. I mean crickets, empty, and based on the last review, I wasn’t surprised. I don’t know why, and I wondered why, If they’re always empty, how do they stay open? That aside, I got a cóctel de camarón, which is a real cóctel. The other places in New Paltz are awful and had the nerve to tell me that I didn’t know what I was talking about. This is real Mexican food, made my Mexicans, not yuppies that want to open a trendy spot in a college town. The food was solid, Pico de gallo delicious and the staff was courteous and kind. I didn’t get the food to stay because it was eerily quiet, I was the only patron and I just felt weird. I’d go back again for take out but not sure what the dining experience would be like. There’s no music, no nothing, just an empty space. So, go for the food. If you want ambient atmosphere, or lights on, or feeling safe, … eh…

The prices are more than fair, the service is top-notch, and the food is some of the best authentic Mexican I’ve ever had. It worries me why a great restaurant like this was completely empty on a Tuesday night. Are they just bad at marketing? Did they fail a health inspection?(Doubt it, it’s very clean.) Or did everyone in town just happen to eat a late lunch that day? If you’re a fan of real Mexican cuisine, this place is not to be missed.
