This review is a bit overdue — we had a Unilocal sponsored event here a couple months back and I’ve been meaning to give this place(and the owners) their due respect This is a cool little spot to grab a slice, a beer, and watch a live performance. The owners are absolutely awesome guys and proud«hippies» for sure, and were nice enough to give us some history on the place, Poughkeepsie, and themselves. I loved the sweet potato pizza(yea that’s right, sweet potato on a slice) and have thought about coming back for more. While we were eating and hanging out, some of the owners friends came by and they all start jamming out in the back — just looked like they have a ton of fun managing this place and that def created a chill atmosphere here. Special thanks for the fried dough, that stuff was awesome!

These guys know how to make pizza food but what all the other pizza places do not have is the spirit of bursting young creativity, the avantguard musical gigs and the gallery, this place vibrates with the potential of leading the cultural scene in historical Poughkeepsie. Ahough.

I first went to My Place with my friend to see her boyfriend’s band play(I know, it sounds a little weird, but it actually kind of worked). The shop is tucked away on Main Street, with its Pac-Man looking pizza sign shining bright in the corner of the front window, like a beacon of good pizza tidings and PBR to make you feel young again. The shop itself is a lot larger than you’d expect from the outside because it stretches pretty far back into the area that they had the band play. The part had lots of worn couches and slouchy chairs to hang out on, and it seems like there’s this immediate divide between normal, local pizza shop and grungy live music venue that I found very stark and strange. But, again, it worked and I liked it. Like I said, the front is very standard little pizza shop, with small tables and a glass lined counter filled with food. I’ve only ever eaten plain cheese slices from there, but I thought they served up pretty solid pizza and I definitely enjoyed the several in a row that I devoured the first time I went there. They do have really interesting offerings, though, and now I’m thinking it’s a good day for a pizza lunch to test some of them out ;)

Excellent pizza that would match any NYC shop but a true Hudson Valley feel provided by the owner Pat’s passion for uplifting the local community and providing creative, delicious food.

Omg the person who said pizza Jesus was right. I tried the soul pizza, why had I not known about this place when I lived closer? Pesto and ricotta topped with mozzarella and a crust crisp and thin yet supports the toppings. We added chicken and they were not stingy like many places. I had hoped to avoid the metal/ska? Band mentioned previously, alas at 7 they were indeed playing. Not my taste in music, if you like the style they are really good. I may not listen to it, I do know when it’s done right though.

Very good pizza. Pizza jesus knows his dough and how to make a thin crust pie. We ordered a large, half meatball and it was tremendous. Don’t be fooled by the atmosphere or that it hasn’t been updated since it opened in ’78. That’s the charm of it and besides, who gives a damn as long as the pie is good.

Isn’t this place a funny contradiction. A typical slightly rundown looking pizza place in a slightly seedy part of Poughkeepsie. But then you notice how it’s different. Patrick the owner, is a friendly bearded lanky guy with longish curly hair listening to Simon and Garfunkel. The walls are covered in art for sale from local artists, a fun mural and instruments in the back for evening shows. And the pizza! Besides the normal cheese, etc. he had a Sweet Potato, Bacon, Apple slice, a kale slice, and a butternut squash slice which had won an award for best specialty pie in a pizza cook off. I spent my lunch chatting with Patrick about great hidden hiking spots in the area, the follies of having children, and moon cycles. And the strange Poughkeepsie characters that came in just added to the meal’s ppl-watching entertainment value. Patrick is awesome, the pizza’s awesome, the funky but slight gritty locale is awesome. I’ll definitely be back.

Well I did park right up on the curb out front. Walked in and used the bathroom first. Took a quick leak. Walk back to the front and yelled for the owner. He was nice. Made me a few slice. Got peproni and grandmama slice. Oh man those pizza were absoluty superb. Also got a Slammin plate of mozzarello sticks and some marnara. Some kids walked in. Smelled a little like B.O. but didn’t mind. Played mad hard rock songs all night. I even got into the circle pit. Stoked I got to mosh in my sleeveless. Please grab a few slice and support your local hard music scene and bring all the kids!!!

Good, consistent, New York style pizza for $ 2 a slice(or get the whole pie!) A friendly owner, with the occasional live band for late night entertainment(leaning toward rock/punk for the kids)
