Was anxious to try something different on my lunch break, so I decided on Naked Food Concepts. After contemplating the menu, I ordered the BBQ grilled tofu rice bowl. Although the concept is great, the execution left me disappointed. There were only a few pieces of reheated(microwaved) tofu with some BBQ sauce on it and about 3 slices of plantain. I was sadly left wondering why I paid so much for what ended up being a bowl full of plain jasmine rice.

This isn’t Naked Food Concepts, it is Twisted Soul Concepts, or something like that. We wanted to try something new so drove the extra distance just to find out we could have stayed on Raymond Ave and gone to the original Twisted Soul. Good idea(or concept lol), but bad follow through. Only one person was working on a weekday evening and was obviously overwhelmed/unable to perform all tasks by herself with multiple orders and multiple customers. Not her fault– but management should know better then to have only person on at a time. We waited over 25 minutes for two of the same Sweet Potato Concepts(east african), a small avocado salad, cold noodles and a bubble tea. We really liked the Avocado Salad. The Sweet Potatoes were HUGE and all the attractive toppings were sparse. I can see it being more attractive to college students. Go for the bubble tea, or call in and pick up! or plan ahead and make it at home with more toppings ! has potential!

So disappointed with this place. Had the East African Sweet Potato Bowl and it was a sticky, dry mash of starches with not a lot of flavor. Won’t be going back:/

I paid $ 4.25 for a strawberry and pineapple smoothie with coconut water. My friend ordered a blueberry and pineapple smoothie. I waited 15 minutes for it while the two women behind the counter were discussing their schedule and negotiating days off with each other. I told the ladies after 5 minutes that we were trying to catch a train– they told me the smoothies would be right out, as they only had one blender. They talked for 5 more minutes and then made our smoothies. My smoothie was disgusting, it tasted like old rotten pineapple and maybe one old strawberry was thrown into it. My friends smoothie came out as blueberry and banana. I was envious of their mistake on her smoothie, as she had averted the rotten pineapple.

This place is perfect for a quick, healthy and flavorful lunch. I’m not even vegan, and I still loved it! I was pressed for time, so I went with a fruit smoothie mixed with miso. Amazing! A great combination of sweet and salty. The next time I’ll try a grain bowl(or a salad, or a loaded sweet potato, whatever strikes my fancy!). The storefront is clean, inviting and modern, with just a few small tables out front. The staff members were extremely helpful. A great addition to the lunchtime dining scene. I’ll be back!

Yum! Totally delicious, totally unique combinations. Not your typical Smoothies, but oh so good! And, who doesn’t love a sweet potato with fresh and innovative combinations? The only thing I don’t like is their hours, 11:30−6 because I often cannot make it, but the Marist students must be in heaven! :-)

I was generally impressed with this place, especially given the lack of vegetarian/vegan options near Poughkeepsie. We went in the middle of the day and found that the service was pretty quick. I ordered a loaded Japanese sweet potato and my significant other ordered the loaded Mexican sweet potato. The ingredients in each of our dishes were very fresh and we watched them make each one in front of us. I do wish my potato was dressed a little bit more with the miso sauce and I wanted more mushrooms than what they gave me, but I ultimately dug the meal. This spot does seem like it’s more of a take-away counter than an actual restaurant, but they were nice enough to let us sit in the front without a problem. I can’t see myself coming back up this way, but I hope the locals keep NFC in business for many years to come!

I’m always excited to find vegan places when traveling. Usually, I’m visiting somewhere that I haven’t been before, it’s for vacation or a wedding(which can be like a mini vacation). Since trips like these usually involve lots of unhealthy food, it’s nice to be able to find a place where I can recharge and get back to one of my normal meals, if only for an hour. Naked Food Concepts did that for me. I was pulled in by the fact that most(if not all) of the menu is vegan. They also had a section called Sweet Potato Concepts which we both went after. I went with the Mexican and she went for the Japanese. I preferred the Japanese but the Mexican was not bad by any means. In both cases, the sweet potato outlived the toppings(which is inevitable) but it was a nice little meal regardless. This is a small space, mostly meant for take away. They have two tables and even if you dine in, your food comes in a take-away container. The smoothie concoctions they had lined up also looked delicious but we only stayed for the potatoes. Anyhoo, this is a solid place and fit the bill for a vegan meal during they day. Cheers!
