I drove past this place for years and never tried it. I herd good things but always went somewhere else. I’m so glad I finally stopped in. There is not a bad meal in this place. The décor I a little funny but it doesn’t matter. The home cooked food speaks for it self. there is a reason this place has been opened for so long. Big big menu but don’t be overwhelmed. What ever you order will be great.

My husband and I returned twice after writing my review. I don’t know if kitchen staff changed but our meals were terrible. We went back that 2nd time thinking it was just an anomoly… but the food was just as bad. We both had a rice bowl on the 2 occasions. Have stayed away since then. It’s truly a shame because we both love the ambiance and loved our meals in the past.

Southside is THE place to go if you want great food in a very nice restaurant. Kenny, and his staff aim to please and it shows in the quality of the food as well as the way you are treated. Prices are below most other restaurants in the area and portions are larger. The entire staff is pleasant, and on top of your every need. They share in making sure you are well taken care of. Menus selection is large, and many items can be altered to meet your needs. Want great food, and feel like you are not just a number? Try Southside and you will see what hospitality and great food really is.

Six of us looking for good home cooking to kick off our weekend getaway. We saw the reviews on Unilocal and choose Southside Café. From the minute we walked in… we new this was a gem. This is homemade food. Friends are still raving about the meatloaf. The service is fantastic. Our waitress Syndi was the best!

Stopped in a few times now. Their wings are truly wonderful. Nice and crispy, the way their supposed to be. Sauces are great and the service is very personable. Found out they started as a wing only joint back 30+ years ago. I had the turkey dinner one night, I love not having to wait for Thanksgiving. I had a slice of a special coconut cake, too. Sorry you missed it. I had the last piece! Everything is home made, fresh and delicious.

Their wings are the best in the Valley. Great service and down home charm. My go-to place. Say hi to Kenny and tell him Mike the stockholder sent you!

My husband and I eat here often and really love this place. The food is not fancy or innovative, but it is fresh, flavorful, plentiful and delicious. They have some of the best wings in town, the ribs are amazing, sandwiches are HUGE, and everything tastes homemade. But that is only half of the story. The servers here are the nicest and most attentive anywhere. Southside is a little gem.

A little family restaurant with American food and good service. I wish they had a grill and their meats where grilled but it’s all good regardless.

Pleasantly surprised. Driving by I would never have noticed it was there although with the help of Unilocal I was able to enjoy the meatloaf. As always I bellied up to the bar and so often asked the bartender to bring me the last thing he ate… Meatloaf it was and the service was wonderful. A little heavy on the gravy though. The atmosphere is nice especially if you get a table. I would recommend you try it and I will stop again at some time.

Home cooked meals at its finest. I have never had a bad meal here. Wings are good and flavorful. The soups are all tasty and come with Texas toast to dip in the soup. The ponderosa dish is also flavorful and filling. The inside is a bit ridiculous with the blast from the past items everywhere. The service is good, almost too good where they check on you every 2 minutes to see if there is something they can do at your table. I guess it is a good thing but I personally find it annoying after awhile. 3.5 rating in my opinion

I love this place. Never had a bad experience. My whole family and I have been coming here for years. It’s good home cooked food. I love the seating arrangement so personal and secluded. Perfect for date nights too. The wait staff is pleasant and polite. The portions are plentiful and reasonable in price. I had dinner there tonight. Yum. It’s a must try, you won’t regret it.

I got the recommendation to try Southside from a caller that I had spoken to at work. She raved about this«hole in the wall» local gem. What she described did not do it justice. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by very friendly staff. The booth we sat in was private and cozy. It was the right atmosphere for a date night out. The servers were extremely attentive and I never had to ask for anything. They anticipated it all. The food came out hot delicious and at just the right time. We were able to enjoy our appetizer, soup and main entrée. I will be recommending this to all my friends and family. I will also be going back soon.

My parents have been raving about this place for a few years now, and I finally had the chance to eat at Southside this weekend. I ordered the Honey BBQ Chicken Supermelt(which I’m fairly certain was inspired by Friendly’s meal of the same name, and really gave Friendly’s a run for their money!). It was delicious! It came with three large sections of sandwich. My only complaint about the actual sandwich was how un-honey BBQ like the sauce was. When it was first served, I thought it was buffalo sauce — yuck. But a quick taste test proved that it indeed BBQ sauce, though I didn’t really get the honey taste. Still, though, it was delicious! And don’t even get me started on the sweet potato fries. TODIEFOR. Seriously the best that I have ever had. They were just perfect. My parents and grandmother all enjoyed their meals quite a bit also. Everything that I tasted, which was limited to soup and a salmon burger, were great as well. The décor is interesting. Each booth has a theme — I saw a Yankees booth, a Marilyn Monro booth, and we sat at the Wizard of Oz booth. I’m not sure what other themes there were, but I’d be curious to see them all at some point. It was really neat, though really cluttered. So why only 4 stars then? The waitress brought out a few of the wrong items. She initially brought out regular fries for me and the wrong side for my father. She was friendly and helpful about correcting the mistakes. My only other complaint is about how tight everything in the restaurant feels. I am a bit claustrophobic, so this probably won’t bother others as much as it does me, but the waiting area is extremely small and with all of the decorations for the themed booths, it was a bit overwhelming(for me. Nobody else in my party seemed bothered by this). I’m a «less is more» kind of person. Other than that, though, this place is wonderful and I really can’t wait to go back! My only other complaint is that I didn’t have room for dessert — totally not the fault of the restaurant but man, I would have loved to try one! But I was stuffed because of the delicious meal. They looked AMAZING!

Great servers, staff, and owners. Mediocre, simple food. Horrific menu design. It doesn’t appear to be bad design on purpose, someone actually thinks this is a good layout. Just because you have a computer with a font library in your back office, doesn’t mean you’re a designer. The menu has cruddy photos from the web that do not represent the actual dishes served, the font choices are deplorable and practically illegible, and the organization of the dishes on the menu is horrendous and frequently redundant. Owners of Southside: hire an experienced designer to redesign that train-wreck of a menu. A well-designed menu says«we care about the food we’re serving you»; currently, not so much.

Great home-cooked meals. Meatloaf is excellent. Mashed potatoes with gravy. I’ve had the fish sandwich, french onion soup. all great. Good prices, casual atmosphere, friendly staff. I’ve been a few times.

This place was a good place to eat. I would go back but had to downgrade it for a few reasons. One the décor on the wall seemed interesting at first glance then seemed tacky. The food was well prepared and up held to the traditional American food theme. It was slightly over priced. The staff was friendly but at times seemed way too over friendly. And not just our waitress but every other one and the manager. This place was a good place to eat. I would go back but had to downgrade it for a few reasons.
