Um… WHAAAAT? This place is so weird. I don’t really know what to rate it, so I went with 3-stars. I have only been once but I’m pretty sure my assessment is accurate. It’s super freaking weird. The décor is over the top. Like gold and marble and chandeliers, super gaudy over the top. When you walk in you don’t feel like you’re in Poulsbo anymore. The vibe doesn’t fit though. It’s not a nice restaurant by any means. It’s super bright and open, so it’s kind of noisy. The service is pretty laughable. Such as, Me: «Whats the special tonight?» Waitress:(across the busy restaurant) «Hey Tom! What’s the special?!» Yes that totally happened. The menu is minimal, like you would see at a fancy restaurant, but the food just tastes like black pepper and soy sauce. The meat quality wasn’t very good, chewy. The portions weren’t very big and it’s kind of over priced, which would be find if it was quality. I can’t imagine them making enough money to pay for all that gold plated décor. I’ve thought about going back just to experience the laughing contradiction it is, and to try their sushi, but I’d rather eat chinese food from the deli at Safeway… yea I said it.

Have been here many time and each time I have been pleased with the food. Had the orange beef with a hot noodle dish and throughly enjoyed them both. They serve family style so sharing is encouraged. This is our go to place for sit down Chinese food.

This review is for the 2 time i was here in july 2015. The restaurant looks amazing. It sits on top of the hill, and the view is simply breathtaking. Make sure you get a window table, the view is worth it. You get a view of the water, seattle, and the mountain behind it. This is the best thing about the restaurant. The food here leaves much to be desire. The noodle and seafood plate I order was lackluster. I think safeway noodles taste better and less oily than what I was serve here. The sushi are just passable. Nothing to write home about, and not something to go out of my way for again. The service here was pretty terrible. Take it I was here by myself, but both time I was here I got my check before my main course came to the table. I definitely felt like they were rushing me out of the building before I got all my food. The server ask if I was ready to pay for me meal before my main dish came out of the back. Overall this was a bad experience. The only reason to come here is for the view, and even then you’ll likely get rush thru your meal.

Food and wait staff was really good, great view. Wait time was average for sushi. Walking from the inside to the out you expect to see the Vegas strip with the décor inside.

Summary: Awful. Don’t waste your time or money. Much better Chinese food is available in Silverdale. The food wasn’t bad, it just literally tasted like nothing — completely flavorless. Full Story: arrived just after 5pm on a Saturday night. Our party of three was seated immediately, at a table with two place settings. We ordered appetizers — egg rolls and potstickers. Both came out, but we still only had 2 place settings. Asked the person who brought our food for a third setting and began eating. Both were just ok. Waitress came to take our meal order, and we had to ask again for the third place setting. After taking our order, she brought a plate and fork to the table(the full setting has a placemat with a plate, soy sauce dish, chopsticks, fork, spoon, and napkin). Food came and was underwhelming. We ordered 3 sushi rolls(avocado roll, tuna avocado roll, and the red dragon roll), orange chicken, and szechuan chicken. The sushi rolls came out almost immediately, but they brought a tuna roll instead of a tuna avocado roll. We just went with it. All three rolls were tasteless. The red dragon is supposed to spicy tuna on top, but there was no spice; no flavor what so ever. The soy sauce was very salty, so it was like dipping something that tasted like nothing into salt. Not great. Chicken dishes finally arrived, and it was the same thing — no flavor to speak of. The service overall was fine. We had two different waiters come to our table, asking the same questions every time. At one point they seemed to be arguing with each other in their language — but they were standing right at our table while doing it. Was uncomfortable. This was the weirdest food experience I’ve ever had. I’ve never had food hat literally tasted like nothing before. Very odd and will not be returning. PS: completely irrelevant to the food, but the décor is pretty funny/odd. Crystal chandeliers and a gold mosaic mural wall is just over the top of the location, clientele, and quality of food.

Décor is pretty and the staff are nice. Pretty good happy hour menu. The sushi was good, especially for being on this side of the water. First place here we have found that we really like the sushi. Was kind of annoyed that they brought out a full size plate, and fork miso soup and a full glass of water for my 1 and a half year old. Just gave us more to keep away from her. She also finished her milk and they didn’t have any. She likes sushi so a kids menu isn’t important, but milk would have been nice to have.

Ate here on a Saturday night. Restaurant wasn’t full, but wait staff seemed stretched. We tried one of the long rolls(can’t remember name) but it was great. Had the cashew chicken and prawns with broccoli. Food was good. Wait staff were very nice. Things rolled out slowly though from the kitchen. Not sure if that is the norm or what. Décor is very nice. Love the backdrop behind the bar.

This is my second time to this restaurant. Both times I was left unimpressed, especially compared to my experience with other Chinese restaurants on the eastern side of the Puget Sound. The second trip has the most influence on this review. First off, they listed an Old Fashioned as one of their cocktails but after I ordered it, the bartender forwarded the message that«they didn’t have Old Fashioneds». What is that supposed to mean? Does the bartender not know how to prepare a common cocktail? So I settled for a whiskey sour at the bartender’s suggestion. The food itself is okay; nothing to be a repeat customer for. The one good point was that the waitress was nice and sweet. Other than that, if you’re looking for Chinese cuisine, I recommend you search elsewhere.

Quite possibly the worst food I have ever eaten. The wait staff is clueless and the décor is cheap and ugly. I wish a different restaurant was in this building. What a waste.

Very large restaurant and a large parking lot to go with it. The large windows have a fantastic view of Liberty Bay. The glass tables have a strange smell to them, probably the cleaning solution. The divider in between the tables has thick layer of dust. The House Special sushi roll doesn’t taste like anything really. The ceilings are very nice, with crystal chandeliers but the drinking glasses are labeled«Pepsi-Cola». I just don’t understand why you would go over the top with chandeliers but use cheap tacky glasses. Overall, the food way bland. Not bad, but not good. This place reminds me of the before restaurant on Gordon Ramsey’s show Kitchen Nightmares. It has potential but it’s heading in the wrong direction. The outside décor is… Strange. Tomato plants?

We are so happy to finally have a decent sushi place on this side of the water. It is fresh and delicious. The dragon roll and volcano roll are awesome! The restaurant looks pretty blasé from the outside, but it is well decorated inside. The view is great, and it has tons of natural light. The staff is friendly, but sometimes it is somewhat slow. However, it is worth waiting. The one issue we have with this place is that some music would really improve the atmosphere. It is silent, which is kind of awkward. But other than that, it is consistently good.

This is my second visit to Taste Wei. The experience was about average. Went here on a Tuesday and they were a little busier than I was expecting. My friend, her two kids and I were seated in a booth as soon as we arrived. The kids high chair that was provided was broken(the seatbelt didn’t work) so I had to go back and get another high chair for the toddler. The entire restaurant is bright and has a lot of natural light. Everything there looks very clean. They have this incredible gold mural of Seattle! The view of Mount Rainer is pretty nice too! I believe the server was very busy because he seemed scattered to me. My friend ordered iced tea and it tasted like water. My guess is that it was supposed to be green tea and they added too much ice. I’ve been here twice now and both times the cocktails have been sub-par. This time I ordered off of their Happy Hour menu. A drink called ‘Censored at the Beach’. I couldn’t event drink ¼ of it. I also had to ask the server twice for water with my cocktail, and when my friend wanted a tea refill, the server brought her water instead. Onto the food. We asked the server about any salads that they offered because salads aren’t listed anywhere on the menu. He suggested a seafood salad. It was alright. For an appetizer we ordered Shrimp Tempura. It was a good size portion and had a variety of items. The sauce was so good! Yum! For entrees we just shared a bunch of rolls. The«Incredible» Roll was my favorite. The Philadelphia Roll, California Roll, and Salmon & Avocado Roll were all good too. I believe the only kids meal they have is chicken nuggets and french fries. The kids loved it. The fries are crispy and hot. Overall, good meal. I think I’ll just stick to ordering water here instead of drink though.

Giving 5stars today. We came in for lunch and Connie was our server. She was very sweet and very attentive. Giving 4 stars for food, which has been consistently good. But the service is lacking. Was told we had a new server, it really wasn’t a busy time of day, but hopefully he gets up to snuff in his serving style to help make this place a 4 – 5 star every time. Loved the California rolls and tempura veggies!

This place is worth a try! We were pleasantly surprised with how open and clean it is. The décor is just WOW! Deceiving that outside appears it’s a fast food looking sign. Inside was lavishly decorated and the view is pretty incredible. Now on to the sushi. We ordered just two rolls and some white tuna sashimi. All decent tasting. I would return to try some other things!

My wife and I have dined here both for lunch and for dinner a few times. The food is excellent; the view and atmosphere even better. However, there is a fly in the ointment. At least twice now we’ve had our food arrive too soon after the soup. This evening the appetizer arrived AFTER the three main courses were served. I asked the server why an appetizer would arrive so late. His explanation was that there were two cooks. One did fried items and the other did the rest of the meal. So… our pot stickers came late. The server offered to take our main course back but, of course, that would mean they would be either cold or sit under the heat lamps for another 15 minutes. This kind of service is inexcuseable… They would get 5 stars for food but 2 for service…

Pleasantly surprised, Standard Chinese fare and sushi. Decent lunch menu. Its biggest draw is the interior design of the place, great view on a nice day. Service was good too. It may be too cookie cutter for some Unilocalers but I’m glad I stopped in.

I seriously wonder what’s up with these negative reviews; I am sitting in the parking lot and writing this because I don’t want someone else to miss out. I regularly dine in the ID and Richmond, BC — check out my other Chinese food reviews for context. We had four dishes(five counting the complimentary hot and sour soup which was, admittedly, neither). The whole flounder steamed in lemon zest, ginger and soy was a $ 15.99 special and was one of the best whole fish preparations I’ve had in a long time. Not sure if the fish was fresh or previously frozen, but the texture was firm, the flavor was mild and the sauce was full-flavored and unthickened as one would expect. Solid 10. Would eat another. The«Diced chicken Sichuan Style» was a very close second to the same dish at Dinesty in Richmond. Small cubes of breaded chicken, dressed with dry-fried dried peppers, Sichuan peppercorn and scallion. The whole numb-burn-numb thing. Also a 10. Best chicken dish I’ve had in a Washington asian restaurant. Beef Chow Fun with Black Beans was precisely as I expected. I could stand some more fresh garlic, but overall a solid performance. Easy 8.5 — 9. The Pepsi Chicken Wings were ordered on a lark. The wings themselves were perfectly fried. Meaty and genuinely crisp. They also french the skinny end so the meat shrinks towards the meaty end and makes a convenient handle. Wings 10, sauce 3. It was disappointingly bland and gloppy. Service was attentive. The room is gaudy but the view is amazing — water and Mt Rainier. If you order more Americanized dishes, I have a feeling you don’t get the A-game. Adjacent tables had kinda wan-looking General Tso’s. I can’t speak for the sushi either. But I am going to be back again and again for items that weren’t otherwise available over here.

I don’t know what to start with the good, the bad, or the really bad… The night started with us wanting to try out this new place and we thought two months was a good«shake out» period. We came in and the interior is nice. One of the nicest in the area. It’s bright, clean, and you are greeted and seated immediately. Downside(looking to the left where you see dishes being washed) We are seated and we realize that the benches move. So every time anyone is seated behind us we also move. This is great for people with mobility issues but maybe only have this on one or two of the benches rather than all? I enjoyed the place settings and the chopsticks being real. When we sat we were told that everything was served family style to share and everything came with rice. Which was fine and dandy. We ordered an appetizer, drinks, an entry, two rolls, and two hand rolls. Drinks — we order Gin and Tonic they were fine nothing to scream about didn’t feel like there was much Gin in them. The appetizer — CHICKENWITHSPICYSAUCE we were warned was a cold dish and that it took some people off guard. We were not told that it was a chicken breast with SKINON. This was not okay. It was like eating fat and we couldn’t eat it. Plus it no taste, it was not spicy. It was cold fatty chicken swimming in oil. We set it aside after one bite. Next came the entrée — LITTLEHOTWOKWITHTOMATOANDBEEF Again not what we expected. The beef loin was so fatty that my first bite was complete fat which I had to spit into my napkin. The dish was bland. There was no flavor and the cucumber tasted old. Not fresh not like a wok cooked but the dish seemed more stew like since the veges were wilted and soft not crisp like a wok cook would be. This dish too got set aside and not eaten. We asked for it to be taken away and I asked for more napkins. They immediately took the wok dish away but left the appetizer food that we had pushed to the edge of the table. We had to ask it to be removed as well. About 20 minutes later we were told that they were just training a new sushi chef and it would be awhile for out sushi. We were hungry. I started taking notes. About 10 minutes later the manager came over and told us that she had taken off the entrée from our bill and offered us another round of drinks on her. Which was kind. We appreciated this. This is excellent customer service. She apologized for the wait and explained it shouldn’t be much longer and it wasn’t. We were soon roiling in the rolls. However, our hand rolls came out as sushi rolls. :-(we didn’t say anything but I did have to ask again for napkins. The rolls were wonderful. Delicious. Exquisite. I will go there for sushi again and only sushi. Plus they do not skimp on wasabi like the other places. I think they need to nail down their menu some more but they are on point with trying and sushi!
